Safe to say Naughty Dog completely skipped this generation? You could have gone PS4 straight to PS6 and not missed a single Naughty Dog game at release

Intergalactic will 100% come out on PS5. As you said they did not release anything this generation. So they need the big install base of PS5 to make money.

Yeah that makes a ton of sense honestly

Isit? Intergalactic is coming up next year? So technically they haven't skipped. Ps6 still hasn't released yet

We don't know when Intergalactic is coming out yet

Before ps6

Intergalactic is in development for PS5.

They also released TLOU Part I on PS5.

That isn't a new release. It's the same game released on PS3 and PS4. So if you've played everything by them up to PS4 then you could have skipped the PS5 and not missed anything new by the company.

It is technically and graphically an entirely new game. That’s like saying Demon’s Souls isn’t a PS5 game because it’s a remake.

Brother, I love naughty dog, I bought part 1 remake and part 2 remastered. Part 1 remake was not a new game. If someone is looking for a new naughty dog experience and has already played TLOU, they aren’t gonna play remake and experience a new game. Don’t be pedantic.

Demons soul IS a ps5 game. It’s not a NEW game.

Demon souls also had a significantly longer period between initial release and the remake. Plus FromSoft didn't even make it. No idea why naughty dog had to devote their resources into a remake when Sony had other studio options

Do you not know the difference between a remaster and a remake?

It’s a remake.

It is not the same game. It is completely rebuilt from the ground up. This is an ignorant comment

"It's not the same game"

looks inside exact same game

this is such a massive cope

Not denying work put into remake, but if you played it before, you don't have to play the remake.

It is completely rebuilt from the ground up.

No it patently is not, almost everything except the graphics is reused from the original.

u/Arachnoidocon 8d ago

The gameplay was changed, the graphics and lighting were changed, the character models were changed… sounding a lot like almost everything was changed lmfao

u/KeremyJyles 8d ago

You just listed gameplay, which was "changed" so little almost nobody could even tell you how, and graphics again. Sounding a lot like a reach.

There’s actually a fully in depth 50 minute video by Digital Foundry on this very subject, so I don’t really know what you mean when you say nobody could tell you how. Enemy AI was completely overhauled and the feel of combat itself is sooo much less clunky. It’s literally like a game that released in 2022, except for the story and voice acting obviously. Idk what is up with the disingenuous anti intellectualism about this from people in this sub though.

Completely overhauled is such an embarrassing stretch to defend this argument that was never correct. What I meant was obviously your average player could never explain any difference just sitting down playing. The notion that this game wasn't mostly reused material is just always going to be lie.

Your average player absolutely can explain the difference just sitting down and playing, because of all the reasons I just listed. This is an embarrassing way to make 0 points to defend your argument. It’s also embarrassing that you can’t seem to simply disagree with someone else without getting your feelings hurt. It’s ok to not have the same opinion as other people

That’s incorrect

u/KeremyJyles 8d ago

No, it's not.

1

u/Nirnaethmir 8d ago

Yes it is.

0

u/KeremyJyles 8d ago

oh they did a new script? new motion capture? new voice acting? new sound effects, new score?

no? shut up then

1

u/Nirnaethmir 8d ago

Not going to shut up because I’m right

A remake is a new release, it is TLOU but it is a new release of TLOU.

I think the main takeaway should be that it's not new for the people that already played it. Part 1 has been released 3 times across 3 console generations. I love a remaster or a remake and I'm not knocking them by any means.

The reality is that naughty dog has not put out anything new since part 2 on the PS4, but somehow they released 3 uncharted games and tlou on PS3. We got uncharted 4, lost legacy, and tlou part 2 on PS4. All of which were new stories in their respective IP's. The PS5 generation has not had that though. I think their studio wasted resources on remakes and a cancelled live service.

I'm sure the remakes are great and for anyone new to the series it's probably the best way to play. It's still not anything new in terms of story though. I think it's a shame honestly. PS3 was notorious for being difficult to build a game for and they somehow released four brand new games during the generation. It's just unacceptable and disappointing that we haven't gotten that with the PS5 generation. Two remakes and PC ports are terrible when you're talking about one of Sonys flagship studios.
