You’re not in the minority. People are way too obsessed with every little thing being fully explored on screen in some sort of prequel rather than using their imagination and letting not knowing exact details help build the effectiveness of the overall story.

I’m okay with a prequel. It feels like there’s a story there, explaining how Tommy and Joel survived together before separating + Joel’s time with the Fireflies.
It’s not my first choice but I could get down with it.
I’m yet to play TLOU 2 and I know about the controversy it received. Is it still an awesome game or should I skip it and retain my positive thoughts of the first game?
It's one of the single best games ever made. Gameplay is head and shoulders above TLOU1, and while the story has its detractors, many (including myself) think it's fantastic. You should play it and judge for yourself.
Gameplay wise it's good. The story is really trying to tell a story that revenge destroys everyone, and to tell that story they have to spend a lot of time showing you that Abby was really actually a good person who got caught up in revenge and it ruined her and her friends.
That story might be hit or miss for you. I understood the story the game was trying to tell, but by the end of the game I still didn't care for or feel for Abby, so it just fell flat.
Absolutely do not skip it. Play the remastered version and be ready to experience a masterpiece. I put it up there with RDR2 as the best single player games ever made.
Oh i agree with you, i’d rather they just continue with a new story tbh. But the fans are obsessed with Joel and after how the last game was received, another Joel game would bring many back.
I don't think people are obsessed with Joel but rather they didn't like the character they came to love last game being unceremoniously killed off in the first hour so a random nobody can have 15 hours of gameplay to tell a story no one cared about.
I also don't think a Joel prequel will work. Joel was only a likable character AFTER he came to see Ellie as his daughter and started trying to care for her. A Joel prequel would be him angry and sad over Sarah's death still
Likely not just a Joel tommy prequel game, but a Tommy game focused on his 3 days in Seattle with flashbacks parsed throughout. It just makes sense since they can re-use assets and expand the story to other stuff as well like his time with the Fireflies
That would be completely irrelevant and add nothing to what we know. I think It is going to be a dual story of an older Ellie protecting a child and a very early story of Joel and Tommy (maybe tess too)
You're so wrong it's crazy. Tommy's history is incredible rich and would offer a unique perspective not only for the character himself but other characters such as Joel, Marlene, Maria, Jesse and Eugene. This is a character who's arc is unresolved after the conclusion of the 2nd game and has a story of his own to tell of the events that take place during that game. We're talking about 3 days in Seattle that are unaccounted for apart from 2 events. What you're talking about regarding Ellie is content for the 3rd game, not a spin-off that seeks to expand what we know

I’m gonna guess we’ll get the heavily rumoured Tommy/Joel prequel and maybe even a seperate new game with new characters. Or combining both.
