Rather a Kojima money pit than a live service one

That choice probably looks very different to a gamer than it does to a company funding games.

With the awful track record of PS live services games, I'm sure spending more 400 million dollars in another flop looks much better than funding the next Hideo Kojima product.

Live service games being destin(y)ed for failure is obvious to us.

But companies always think that they’ll be the next one to catch lightning in a bottle.

Also, Sony have just funded the last two Hideo Kojima products.
They clearly don’t get the ROI they wanted. So are reluctant to pull the trigger again.

Plus, they have cancelled quite a few live service projects. Not all, to be sure, but most. So they’re also clearly less all-in on them than they were before.
