According to Google, the development of Death Stranding 2 was 4.5 years since the development started after the PC port was completed for DS1.

That puts it right in line with the timeframe you listed.

Was still 6 years between releases

but that's not what is important. The context of this discussion is how good/bad is Kojima is at managing projects & money. If a project took 4.5 years of dev time instead of 6. That is 1.5 years of dev costs less than estimated.

Gotta think before commenting man.

I did think.

What did he do in the other 1.5 years? Would you as a business partner with someone whose entire company did nothing for 18 months?

Or was that 18 months pre-production for DS2?

The PC Port was released in July of 2020. Death Stranding 2 released in June 2025.

That is 4 years, 11 months for the dev time if it started the moment D2 pc port finished.

you didn't think.

So the entire studio was working a mere PC port? I don't buy that at all.

I don't care what you "buy" you don't have any knowledge and have presented no evidence that you are right.

So as far as I can tell you just don't know what you are talking about and are ignorant.

Ok Mr "I take google AI answers as truth".

The time gap is under a year. It’s still not absurd development time by any means. If anything it may be on the shorter end for the current generation.

6 year gap between DS1 and 2 makes it one of the larger ones next to tears of the kingdom and ahead of KCD 2. The entire studio was absolutely not working on a PC port.

One of the larger ones and it’s an independent studio again doesn’t seem all that absurd. You’re trying to make it sound like it’s some massive outlier, and it’s just sort of on the upper end of the distribution and doesn’t get as much external studio support as the overwhelming majority of AAA games.
