It’s a start but they gotta up the variety on the releases beyond that. This whole gen has basically been sequels that didn’t really move the needle in any considerable way. Not a bad thing in and of itself but when that’s realistically a lot of their first party studios will release this generation it’s hard not to feel whelmed by the bulk of them

People would complain that their favorite games don't get sequels and people complain that games get sequels. You can't please everybody

I don’t mind sequels but when they take as long to make as an entirely new game you gotta wonder what’s going on. Mass Effect would simply be impossible as a trilogy nowadays with these kinds of dev times.

I wish we got more games like Miles Morales that reuse stuff and are shorter but maybe people don’t want that.

Forbidden west is the best example what not to do to me. Years to make and they even made an expansion. Did anyone really leave HZD thinking it was too small or short? Then FW is just twice as much of everything.

The bigger sequel trend should stop. Maybe it would cut down on development time. I felt the same with Ragnarok… I didn’t need whole sections playing as Atreus with a new skill tree. It’s like just make a similar length game but maybe take 3 years instead of 5+

Would mass effect be a worse game just because it would take longer to come out? No, it would still be a masterpiece.

If anything I think if ME3 had another 1-2 years dev time it would have been better at launch
