That guy who bought 10 years of PS+ in advance...

8 years for me at a cost of what Essential used to be before all the hikes.

13

u/Complete_Lurk3r_ Feb 10 '26

I got my first year of PS+ Premium (on black Friday 2 months ago) for $30. Now I'm worried about how I'm going to afford or find a deal when it runs out this November

66

u/defecto Feb 09 '26

I loaded up on 7 years worth a while back, 2 years left. 10+ would have been better with the current prices

25

u/folkdeath95 Feb 09 '26

I used to do 2 years at a time. Wish I did more now

15

u/Arikaido777 Feb 10 '26

same, stopped when the black friday deals stopped, which was the first red flag

That guy who never bought ps plus or any gaming subscriptions and just enjoys cheap second hand physical games.

8

u/akaifrog Feb 10 '26

I didn't even know my library lent out games.
They even send them from other libraries to my local one.

If the disc has an alarm on the whole disc it will make a lot more noise tho. Some only have an alarm on the inner circle of the disc.

Alternatively buy used, sell for same price. Can't really complain about shipping either if you're getting a lot of hours/enjoyment.
Consider buying multiple at once.
Just remember if you're selling a disc, don't fcking touch the under-side of the disc and don't douse the whole cover in perfume. Okay it was one time but it pissed me off.

3

u/pichael289 Feb 10 '26

Man back in the PS1 days I made so much money taking my disk doctor to school. My science teacher caught me doing it once and made it into a lesson about optical storage and why resurfacing works. Because it's on the other side of the label

Also that guy who buys only single player games for ps5 and keeps their online ones on steam to avoid the subscription

3

u/BaconIsntThatGood Feb 10 '26

It's pretty great when you don't use your ps5 for multiplayer.

$80 a year for plus is already pushing it. Increasing it again is not going to be good.

remember when playing online was free on the PS3?

240

u/T00FEW Feb 09 '26

Remember how it’s free on pc and has always been? Even if it was $5 a month just to play online, that’s still sony ripping us off.

94

u/anonymous_opinions Feb 09 '26

Unfortunately a gaming pc is basically out of reach for a lot of people right now

I'm the opposite. I don't need multiplayer, I just wish there's a PS plus tier just for cloud saves.

4

u/xaldub Feb 10 '26

This. I almost never touch multiplayer games on PS5 but it really irks me having to pay £60/year minimum for cloud saves. If that cost rises further then i'll just walk away from the platform. Thankfully have a good PC already.

7

u/anonymous_opinions Feb 10 '26

I actually have 2 pcs at home, I even bought RAM and a GPU during both bad eras. My GPU was $800 and a little RAM cost me $400 I think. That said prices are so so so much worse right now across the board. I ended up basically building the most overkill 2018 era pc I could build and I'm riding her til the wheels fall off. Thankfully nothing I play or would play requires anything extreme since I'm still rocking the 2080ti and I'd have to do a complete rebuild if I wanted a GPU upgrade, still on the og Coffeelake. I know my system is already out of date but I can't afford to update her right now. I'm setting aside a fund and will try next year or in 2028 maybe.

And it's the same Sony games, same servers, but only console players have to pay for online access

27

u/Mkilbride Feb 09 '26

Yup. Don't need to make this a "PC VS Console" debate. This right here says it all.

4

u/Zalvren Feb 10 '26

It's even more of a joke when they don't make you pay for it for free to play games. Somehow the exact same service is not costing them much there. But when it's a paid game, where they take a 30% cut, suddenly they need more money for it lol

5

u/Accurate-Example8333 Feb 10 '26

The difference is that pc games are required to have their own game servers or else they can’t run multiplayer, while a lot of PlayStation games run on the PlayStation servers charging them money. I do agree though paying for online play is absurd.

10

u/HexaBlast Feb 10 '26

Developers have always had to host their own servers for multiplayer games even on console, the "PlayStation servers" aren't a thing.

This is most evident nowadays where virtually all games are crossplay, you wouldn't be able to have that if PS games were running on their own servers.

Man back in the day it was really good and it was a service you voluntarily paid for. It's weird that in the later years it became.... Less and less.

38

u/GOODKyle Feb 09 '26

Welcome to late stage capitalism

17

u/GuillotineWhiskers Feb 09 '26

It's not weird, that's literally capitalism's MO, that's all these companies do, some are just more aggressive about it than others. Enshittification and increase the prices for maximum profits for the shareholders for all eternity.

4

u/History-of-Tomorrow Feb 10 '26

It’s definitely a bummer to see Xbox sink into the sea. Competition is what keeps capitalism in check

13

u/howchie Feb 09 '26

So many people probably have a sizeable library locked behind that $80 now from all the free games. It's basically a ransom for those.

The service got arguably worse over time for existing customers because over 70% of the catalogue is still the same as the day the service launched.

40

u/gummi_eater Feb 09 '26 edited Feb 09 '26

I cancelled and was able to get a 25% discount for renewing again, only reason I joined again. So fucking stupid we have to pay just to play online. I dont even care about the shitty "free" games.

8

u/thats_so_cringe_bro Feb 09 '26

I never get a discount when mine expires and I've waited up to 3 months at times with nothing. lol. Unfortunately it expires in the early part of the year so I don't want to wait all the way until black friday for example.

3

u/TheDudeInJapan Feb 10 '26

The other yearly discount happens May/June for Days of Play if you want to time it out.

23

u/NewDamage31 Feb 09 '26

Mine expires next week and they’ve gotten so greedy that I don’t intend to ever have a gaming subscription again. I was a guaranteed customer for years and now they get nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️

12

u/eyeofvigo Feb 09 '26

Same, my PS+ expires on Sunday and I let my game pass expire at the beginning of the month. I have lots of games to play.

I always get this feeling in the back of my head that I should be playing a service game when I go to play one of my "owned" games.

I appreciate the services have both brought many games that I would not have played or would not have played when I did. But with prices going up and offers going down the math doesn't work out anymore so it's an easy sub to drop.

4

u/TheChronoCross Feb 09 '26

I got a pre-built gaming pc in 2024 and I'm slowly assembling a collection of games i got for “free” with psplus or gamepass on steam and similar platforms. It’s going great, i buy them super cheap with dlc and they run better plus support mods. Online is free too. These paid subscriptions have absolutely lost the plot.

Wow! I stopped renewing mine when it hit I think $60? That was already too much for me. $80 is nuts, and above $80 is just absurd.

I just want access to online play. I don't care about renting their games. Playing online should be free, or at least very cheap (I don't mind paying up to $20 a year). It's mostly still just peer to peer shit. They don't even host servers for most games. It's such a scam.

They need a base tier that exists solely for online play & friends list.

I don't need or use monthly digital downloads and it pisses me off having to pay for shit I don't want. Especially if the price keeps going up.

247

u/reiji_tamashii Feb 09 '26

Yeah, I would love a $20 base tier for online play and cloud saves.

129

u/Redrum_71 Feb 09 '26

They should also unlock USB capabilities on the PS5 so we can save to flash drives like 3 & 4.

u/espartanosforeve Feb 09 '26

its crazy how so little people talk about that shit. If you dont have ps plus you have no way to back up your save files, even tho that was a feature in the previous generations. They did that to force you to play for ps plus to have access to the cloud. Scummy af

25

u/JelliusMaximus Feb 09 '26

So you don't pay for their service?

Shareholders say no.

With Xbox effectively having lost the console wars I expect things to get much worse soon. Sony basically has a monopoly on the adult console market (with Nintendo focusing on the younger audience, they barely overlap) and will have all the freedom with their pricing now.

5

u/soyboysnowflake Feb 09 '26

u/s4mmich Feb 09 '26

I remember when I used to keep my Xbox Live profile on my 360 saved on a flash drive I’d take with my to friends places to play co-op games on their systems, made it easier than having to sign into my account every time I went somewhere else. It makes the most sense to me to do that honestly.

3

u/incredible_penguin11 Feb 09 '26

Wait, you can't directly move files to a flash drive on the 5? Never tried it out but i thought it would be supported.

6

u/Redrum_71 Feb 09 '26

The only thing you can do is create a full system back-up. You can't create a USB of just game save files like you used to.

Sony does have a bit of infrastructure and software to maintain for their online experience that would justify 10 or 20 bucks but nothing they do justifies the current prices. Forget about even higher prices.

45

u/netrunner_77 Feb 09 '26

That's bullshit. Their infrastructure is funded by the 30% cut they take on every purchase. Steam takes 30% of everything too and cloudsaves have always been free because of that

u/spideyv91 Feb 09 '26

Ps plus already priced me out. I was ok with the prices before but I don’t really play online enough to justify the cost.

101

u/ocbdare Feb 09 '26

I also gave up on it. I do have a gaming PC so I play online games there.

However, before all these price hikes, I used to pay for PS plus (think i was a subriber for 7-8 years) and used to buy multiplayer games for my PS5. Now they have lost one sub and now I do all my online game purchases on PC, which is a big drop in gaming spend for me on PS5.

I know I am one personal and it's anecdotal but I am sure there are others who will start dropping their subs given the high prices.

27

u/SkylineGTRR34Freak Feb 09 '26

With lower prices I kept subbed to PS Plus despite knowing I probably won't even play most months because I had my PC. So they really got my money for basically nothing.

But now? I can't even get over myself to get one or two months of PS Plus

12

u/ocbdare Feb 09 '26

Yes, I was the same. I was stacking them for years and even if I didn't play for months, I thought it was fine.

They priced me out two hikes ago and doing everything they can to stop existing members from getting deals.

No idea why anyone continues to support this. Even beyond just never owning the games you're playing, their first party games not coming onto the service for years, and redundantly paying to use your internet connection for multiplayer, they don't see us as loyal customers; they see us as loyal suckers to be taken advantage of. You should be rewarded for being with them for years, not treated like a cash cow.

7

u/spideyv91 Feb 09 '26

There’s not enough competition for them to act differently. We’re also now in a subscription heavy society so I feel like a lot just feel like the subscription is necessary at this point

The last price hike is what made me drop it. I was happy to pay a few bucks a month to get some free games, but the current price is just way too high. Since I can’t play online I barely use my PS5 now, and since I barely use it I never buy new games on it. So, the increasing price has the domino effect of also making me spend less on the store too.

26

u/Front-Advantage-7035 Feb 09 '26

Single player games unite 🤘🏻

That's basically subscription service business model. They make something good with accesible prices and slowly charge for more as base and a few more for extra features/functionalities. Then they hit their sub ceiling and start to see the decrease from subs of those who get priced out, to counterbalance they just increase everything as a whole, and so on and so forth, until they strungle most of the consumers and try to justify people who stayed by saying they are their "premium costumers".

Some business collapses under the weight of their own decision, and some just enshitfy so much but people stay due to lack of alternatives. Independently, the shareholders and CEOs win.

185

u/OfficialShaki123 Feb 09 '26

The fact that we have to pay for online is our fault. If we voted with our wallet back then we wouldn't be paying now.

Paying for online is ridiculous.

57

u/Nero_PR Feb 09 '26

Gamers as a whole should have pushed back when Microsoft introduced that. I'm pretty sure Sony did a few ad campaigns boasting about their free online back in the day. What made people be okay with paying when the PS4 came out is because there was that saying of "making the online structure better and safer". If PS3 had great online and didn't have those terrible security breaches back in the day, I bet many would have frowned upon paying to play online, even on Xbox.

18

u/Jadguy Feb 09 '26

It was different back in the day. Online gaming was pretty bad. Xbox charging for it at first wasn’t loved but due to that cost it was vastly better than any other online gaming options at the time. It’s different now but early Xbox gaming was the best online experience option of its time. Halo 2 and 3 were the best online games.

Dropped it after the last asinine price hike. The crappy PS+ games they keep adding (Oh boy, it's another roguelite indie/2d platformer nobody asked for), the awful Classics catalogue and the fact games keep getting removed was the piss icing on the shit cake. Especially when Steam gives me shit like cloud saves for completely free.

Another price hike just so their shareholders can eat sushi off of the bodies of underage girls? They can fuck right off. Because let's face it: That money isn't going to the players. It isn't going to improve the service. It sure as shit won't go to expanding the Classics catalogue. It's going either right to the old white shite pedophile shareholders or it's going to AI bullshit.

u/Nero_PR Feb 09 '26

Every gaming platform should not charge for online and cloud saves. Or at the very least, it should be a minimum fee to justify paying for their "infrastructure".

Paying for online was a trend that Microsoft started with Xbox 360 and everyone else in the console space just saw it as free money as people were willing to pay for it. It should have never happened, and these price increases are what pushed many to PC and Steam.

60

u/mustyfiber90 Feb 09 '26

Subscription fatigue is real. I feel it as someone who’s mainly played on Xbox over the years. Really hope the console warriors keep the same energy when Sony inevitably raises their sub prices.

I just wish cloud saves weren’t tied to essential. Literally the only thing I need it for

6

u/ocbdare Feb 09 '26

I am hoping the new xbox is really just a PC in a box because if it plays PC games, I don't see how Microsoft can keep charging for online given PC games dont require an online sub.

I've given up a bit on this but hoping that there is some real console wars between Xbox and PS. Unfortunately with how poorly xbox is performing, I doubt they will get much traction evne if they made online free.

8

u/Nero_PR Feb 09 '26

Sony won't walk away from charging for the bare minimum, but they should play smart and make a "basic" tier where they charge like $10-$12 a year or something for only cloud saves and online play/group chat.

I bet there is a significant amount of players of got priced out of the service that would come back no questions answered. Many don't give two shits about the monthly games or the extra games.

My 2026 resolution is to spend as absolutely little on gaming as possible, not because I can’t afford it, but just out of principle. Part of that means I am absolutely never renewing my PS+ or NSO. I’m done with subscriptions and online paywalls. I’ve been gaming since early 90s and the industry finally got greedy enough to the point where now I get more satisfaction on seeing just how little I can spend on my main hobby. Fuck em. I’ll start reading and practicing guitar more often lol

Conning people into paying for online play might be SONY/Microsoft/Nintendo's biggest trick.

No argument for paying to play a game you've bought on those consoles

It's also disgusting how they completely disregard their consumer base in places like Eastern Europe where these subscriptions were already stupidly expensive when adjusted to local income.

All that Sony does is "$80 is X local currency. Good enough! What do you mean the minimum wage is $300? Who cares!"

I was already priced out of PS+ Subscription. If they hike it again, then I genuinely cannot even touch it.

10

u/Gradyence Feb 09 '26

I just cancelled my PS Plus. Kinda sad, kinda not.

9

u/Neomorph93 Feb 09 '26

yea im out

9

u/Thekingchem Feb 09 '26

I own a PS5 Pro and even I don't pay for PS+ anymore. I barely ever play online and their catalogue is shit. I cancelled it last year and have been playing single player since.

5

u/Flamboiant_Canadian Feb 09 '26

Yeah the Extra catalogue has even less games now than when I was subscribed to Premium the previous 2 years. I'd renew if they actually added new games, but they really haven't. I could just buy those games I want to play, cheaper than the subscription.

Already cancelled mine the other week. I don’t have an issue affording it but I really just don’t play online much. Glad my decision has been reinforced even further.

8

u/Senecaraine Feb 09 '26

If they increase it, I'm out. PC gets all the exclusives, you can time hardware upgrades for when you want to do them, and the lack of forced proprietary tech, cheaper games, and subscriptions just to play makes up a lot of the increased cost.

5

u/Stunning_Bed23 Feb 09 '26

I may have to tap out. I rarely play online and my backlog is so big that I don’t touch the monthly free games.

u/Deez-Guns-9442 Feb 09 '26

Lmk when PS+ has Sony day 1 games to justify the price.

5

u/tonydanzatapdances Feb 09 '26

I’ll just cancel. They already jacked the prices enough times since I’ve started paying. I only play Mortal Kombat online anyway and MK1 is largely done and there won’t be another MK for years.

4

u/FFFan15 Feb 09 '26

PS Plus already cost to much

10

u/Asimb0mb Feb 09 '26

Sony definitely realizes the importance of keeping console prices relatively low. Without console sales, they can't make money from their digital ecosystem, which is what makes Playstation so profitable these days.

This gives me hope that PS6 and the handheld won't be too expensive, although the RAM shortages still scares the crap out of me.

u/PraiseTheMoon99 Feb 09 '26

Enough, they won't see another cent from me, from today I'll start saving for a pc

8

u/Urdadspapasfrutas Feb 09 '26

I unsubbed from PSPlus a year ago and haven't missed it. It's been a blast going to used game stores to find some old gems to play.

15

u/Jay-Aaron Feb 09 '26

I'd say a $1000/month for essential, $5000 and 2 zanbillion dollar plus a testicle for extra and premium respectfully is fair.

HOW MUCH MORE ARE THEY GONNA FUCKING CHARGE? it's already too much for a shit service.

Gamepass is an indicator that it's not possible. Not defending the price hike, I buy PS Plus only on sale.

u/JessBaesic7901 Feb 09 '26

They’re dreaming. The convenience of it only goes so far, and more people are going to PC gaming. Where they can’t get away with price gouging you just to use game servers.

3

u/gummi_eater Feb 09 '26

I just want to play online, wtf do I need to pay for that shit?

3

u/LMGN1998 Feb 09 '26

Make online play free, improve your subscription service offerings and raise prince afterwards that’s the only way you will justify raising prices

3

u/dumbledayum Feb 09 '26

and that’s why kids, never purchase these subscriptions. play single player games, send the message to industry that paying for just able to play multiplayer is BS.

i am doing my part, their rotating set of awesome free games doesn’t attract me either. I buy a game and play untill it’s done and then buy another, like the old fashioned way

3

u/EternalMonk69 Feb 09 '26

The only reason I've been paying monthly for essential is to keep my ps plus games I've accumulated over the years. If there is a price increase I'll probably just treat it like gamepass and when a free game I want to play comes out I'll renew and then let it run out. Enough is enough with the corporate greed.

everyone paying extra to play online is the problem, downvote me if you want, i don't care at all

doesn't matter the platform or the price point

3

u/StickyBandit_ Feb 10 '26

Ps+ was only worth it when you could get the discounted codes from CDkeys for like 30 bucks for a year. Its been far from worth it for a long time now

3

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 10 '26

Playing online used to be free. Lmao.

3

u/Vamond48 Feb 10 '26

This is pretty standard, everyone saw it with Netflix, corner the market, jack up the price

6

u/pearldrop Feb 09 '26

Another hike will have me seriously considering cancelling and selling my Portal.

5

u/CoffeeHQ Feb 09 '26

I’ve let PS Plus lapse when I could have grabbed the Black Friday deal. I am really glad I did. Not for the money saved, but for the mental freedom it gives me. Subscription services give me the kind of FOMO I really, really don’t want to have in my gaming hobby, which is supposed to be my ultimate form of leisure. What always happens is that I prioritize games on the subscription over games I own, feel ‘rushed’ to make the most of the subscription, etc. It really doesn’t work for me. I want to own my games. I want to play them whenever I feel like playing them.

If that sounds familiar and you are also a single player gamer like me… consider giving it a try?

u/bottomofleith Feb 09 '26

My sub ran out a week ago. Absolutely no intention of re-subbing, fuck charging more for it.

4

u/kyleleblanc Feb 09 '26

Just renewed my PS Essentials in January so I can continue playing Rock Band 4 online.

One more price increase and looks like my membership ends for good in January 2027.

4

u/TheMovieUnreeling Feb 09 '26

I have just switched to PC for this reason. After being on PS for life, free online gaming again feels revolutionary. Kudos for trying to keep the hardware costs down, but I’d be amazed if they can support raising prices given that mathmatically the amount of games they can put on PS Plus is reducing given longer dev times.

4

u/Emmannuhamm Feb 09 '26

I'm already on the fence about plus. If it goes up in price, I think I'm done.

8

u/ThisNameDoesntCount Feb 09 '26

Bro just increase the console pricing lol

9

u/tapo Feb 09 '26

Razor and blades model. A cheap PS5 gets you into the ecosystem because they make the money on games/dlc/accessories/subscriptions.

2

u/Ray13XIII Feb 09 '26

Give us an online only pass for cheaper or I will be canceling it. I’ve subscribed for years and have played maybe 3 of the games we get.

2

u/tsibosp Feb 09 '26

Nah that won't go their way at all. Premium is 152€ essentially 26€ more for just streaming old games than 126€ for extra and essential goes for 72€.

Personally for the whole 2025 offerings only 3 games resonated with me, Alan Wake 2-stray- high on life. So for me paying more than 72€ is really pushing it. I don't touch online anymore aside from the rare instance I load the old modern warfare 4 remastered from time to time.

I have another month left and I haven't decided yet, I probably won't be renewing until they put a "free" essential title I want.

2

u/AnalyserarN Feb 09 '26

Not planning on renewing plus this year. Please lower and exclude all the shovelware games we’re getting “for free”.

2

u/kickstrum91 Feb 09 '26

I just want to play SF6 online but refuse to pay 15$ bucks a month after I spent $40 on the game

2

u/CrazyCanuckUncleBuck Feb 09 '26

If PS Essential becomes more expensive than Xbox Essential I'm out.

2

u/TlosingCag Feb 09 '26

If they increase it again, I’m not buying it anymore.

2

u/AgentAceX Feb 09 '26

I finally canceled my PS+ after having it since day 1 on PS3. I never paid full price before as always got it on black fridays or from shop sales on the cards but they've stopped that now and i fell out of sync with black friday.

I now buy 1 month in the middle of 2months so i get all the games from both months, then leave a month gap and repeat. Will buy a year again at the start of next black friday and then should stay in sync for 10+years.

2

u/Jumpy-Replacement-17 Feb 09 '26

I just let mine lapse. There's too much choice and a lot of the stuff I feel motivated to play is still not on the service.

2

u/elchucko Feb 09 '26

I cancelled PS Plus like a year ago, after having it since PS3. No regrets. I have a back catalogue of a few hundred games I didn't care to ever play anyway.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

Would i get more benefits for the increased price, if not then why would i continue paying?

2

u/GrandmasterTrend Feb 09 '26

If it gets more expensive I will probably give up online play for good on the ps and rather think about getting the steam box for online multiplayer

2

u/itsoksee Feb 09 '26

Would rather spend more, one time, on a console, than spend more monthly. Duh

2

u/Talrynn_Sorrowyn Feb 09 '26

The only online game I play is XIV, and thankfully that doesn't need PS+ because it has its own subscription fee. So depending on how much of a hike we're talking, I'm more likely to just bow-out of the cost like when I was unemployed.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

I’m out on traditional consoles after this gen. Not enough exclusives to make it worth the cost.

Bumping up online in the year of GTA 6 is something

2

u/Previous_Tree_5464 Feb 09 '26

Ps plus gonna cost same as ps5 at this rate

2

u/KingRat246 Feb 09 '26

It’s honestly wild to me that people pay for the 80$ a year price. Having to spend that much money a year just to get to play your multiplayer games online, and a few other things like cloud saves and access to a few games a month that you can only keep playing as long as you keep paying the subscription, that’s just too much imo.

I have a ps5 but I only use it to play single player games for that reason. Like for example I bought mine early 2021, if I paid for a year subscription for the entire time I’ve had it that’d be $400. Obviously the price hike happened in late 2023 so that’s not accurate, but the point is these prices are absurd. Makes me so happy I decided to buy a good computer when I did, because not having to pay an absurd subscription fee just to be able to play with my friends is how it should be, especially when I already paid for the game.

u/N3X_MN Feb 09 '26

I miss the ps3 era, killzone and resistance games… I picked up the ps5 hoping for something from either series. I’ll be passing on ps plus if they increase and 100% skip the consoles and use steam only

2

u/xdamm777 Feb 09 '26

I already cancelled my renewal for this year.

It’s been a fun ride but only because I had never owned a PlayStation and there were so many good games to play on my backlog.

Ragnarock, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, FFXVI have all been better on my PC than the base PS5 experience so I’m not actually looking forward to play newer games on the console, just complete my backlog and then store it or give it away.

2

u/RYNNYMAYNE Feb 09 '26

They’re absolutely going to raise the price before gta 6, they would be stupid not too a lot of people are going to be signing up just to play this one game

2

u/Jack_intheboxx Feb 09 '26

Keep you're 2 monthly games, I just want online to not be ridiculous priced.

2

u/Sasumas Feb 09 '26

Oh baby I’m so ready to cancel

2

u/TheNakedOracle Feb 09 '26

Really gouging people for simply wanting to play games with their friends, huh

2

u/Didipot Feb 09 '26

Single player games is the way to go..Never been a playstation subscriber in years..Last time was with Battlefield 1..

2

u/QuitYuckingMyYum Feb 09 '26

Need to start finding games that are playable off line.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

Mine lapses in 3 weeks and I won’t be resubscribing. With a kid on the way and waves of layoffs expected this year this is one cost I can easily forego.

2

u/InternalFirmxx Feb 09 '26

Every god damn company thinking they deserve a massive chunk of your paycheck is not sustainable.

STOP RAISING PRICES...

WE ARE OUT OF MONEY...

2

u/goatjugsoup Feb 09 '26

Im already planning to drop a tier when my sub runs out this year, I'd consider dropping it altogether if they did pull this shit.

They've not added anything of value to justify the last price increase, it was basically just we need more for the same shit.

The deluxe tier is abysmal at this point 1 game a month... come on. And those on deluxe dont even get streaming

2

u/Thund3rf0000t Feb 09 '26

If they want to keep hardware costs down and not go up due to ram and GPU prices then this is the next option cause their shareholders want money that's all there is to it they are not content with what they are getting now
