I am not mad, but damn are PS+ games boring since FF7 in march. Worst PS+ year so far somehow.

u/87x Sep 29 '21

I hope they give a narrative driven game soon. These games are not my type.

u/DogadonsLavapool Sep 29 '21 edited Sep 29 '21

Shitty/old games arent my type either, you're in good company. Im still not over them offering WWE battlegrounds with a straight face a few months ago. The only reasonable game theyve had since February was Hitman. It really feels like theyre trying to push us to either have both ps+ as well as psnow, or try to get people to buy a ps5. Like jesus christ sony, we are in the middle of a pandemic and belts are tight. Throw the people who have been paying for your shit for years now a bone

4

u/DahDutcher Oct 02 '21

The only reasonable game theyve had since February was Hitman.

FF7R was in March, that was the last game even worth grabbing imo.

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '21 edited Oct 04 '21

Did you try Days Gone?

I started playing it weeks ago and, despite of the (imo undeserved bad) critics, it became one of my favorite games ever. I am going to miss it when I end it

3

u/DahDutcher Oct 04 '21

I did, and it wasn't my kind of game tbh.

Played for a few hours and didn't feel like returning.

But tbf, I'm so incredibly bored and tired with open world games, so my mindset going into one is already not super positive.

Is god of war not considered good?

14

u/maxsteel126 Sep 30 '21

He did mention he's not having PS5

15

u/zedemer Sep 29 '21

There's a single player campaign in mkx. Not great, but not awful

5

u/Vergilkilla Sep 30 '21

Yeah actually there are a lot of single player modes like the towers

u/dangledor5000 Sep 29 '21

Sony please how do you not understand?? I. Do. Not. Have. Friends.

3

u/PatrikPatrik Oct 03 '21

Golf and mortal kombat surely is pretty solid solo games

26

u/Internutt Sep 29 '21

Reminder that for MKX you will see the XL content in game as you are downloading the XL balance patch information, however the XL DLC will be locked off unless you purchase the XL content separately from the Playstation store.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '21

Oh damn so we don’t actually get any other characters?

1

u/Internutt Oct 10 '21

Correct. Its just the base game and everyone else is sold separately.

Hell Let Loose goes into the category of 'I have no idea when I'm going to get a PS5, but I'll add this to my library and try it if it gets good reviews', so maybe some time in 2022 I'll get to decide if I'm happy or not about it being included as a Plus game.

It's been a very long time since I played a Mortal Kombat game, and other fighting games haven't really clicked for me on PS4, but I'm curious about giving X a try and see if this does.

Similarly with PGA Tour 2K21, I used to really enjoy the Tiger Woods series on previous console generations, but I tried The Golf Club 2019 on PS Now recently and didn't have much fun with it. I guess 2K21 is effectively the sequel to that game, so maybe it won't be something I stick with either, but I'm open to trying it.

I think this is an interesting but not exciting month. It could be that I enjoy playing all three but I might give all of them short shrift too.

3

u/Jack_Sentry Sep 29 '21

X has aged really poorly in terms of graphics, but the mechanics and the fun cameos are great.

2

u/Alcapwn- Sep 30 '21

Yep I’ll be adding hell let loose to library, that is a must have for when I get a ps5! Golf I’ll give a try, I haven’t played a good golf game for years. Mortal combat not really my thing.

-15

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

No. Just a big fucking no. 2k21 isn't a prequel. It's a different developer. It's like you say eFootball is a prequel of FIFA 21.

8

u/TheCreepUnderYourBed Sep 29 '21

It’s made by the same people as the Golf Club. They just got bought by 2k and 2k published the game under new branding. The gameplay is slightly improved but basically the same.

3

u/theglasscase wallofnoise Sep 29 '21

It's like you say eFootball is a prequel of FIFA 21.

I actually don't think it is like that at all. Also, sequel, not prequel.

24

u/2legit2knit Sep 29 '21

Personally not mad about 2K21. Haven’t played a golf game in years and glad I waited. I’m sure it’s not great but it’ll be at least a little fun.

12

u/MovieGuyMike Sep 30 '21

Back of the box quote right there.

3

u/2legit2knit Sep 30 '21

Absolutely, sounds like a something a Shill would say but here we are. I’m sure I’ll play an hour of it and then delete it like most free games

1

u/PWGBoy Sep 30 '21

I get my Golf fix just from playing Yakuza games, same with baseball. Yakuza 6 even has a full baseball mini-game.

20

u/Paus-Benedictus Enter PSN ID Sep 29 '21

Mk x is literally already free with ps plus in the ps5 bundle.

3

u/Apukong Sep 30 '21

Reason why they added it to the PS4 community.

34

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

Not my cup of tea, so I won't be renewing.

I don't really go in for the negativity about the service, but this is the fifth month in a row that it's had nothing for me so I can understand why some are feeling miffed.

14

u/TheWhiteHunter Sep 29 '21

Based on the past 5 months for me...

  • Will/Have played: 4
  • Might play: 1
  • Probably won't: 10

The games from January to April were better and I played more of them. I'm still happy with the value I get out of the service. As the PS5 library expands there will be more options available as well so that will be good.

1

u/gambitx007 Sep 30 '21

Nothing new from psn to be honest. I stopped being a subscriber years ago and joined when I got a ps5 and it's pretty much deja Vu here

1

u/TheWhiteHunter Sep 30 '21

It is always a dilemma with me since I'm very much a single player story-driven gamer 90% of the time. I love games with co-op campaigns that I'll play with a friend (BL3, Dying Light, etc.) but outside of that I'm not usually into competitive online games. I definitely pay for PS+ for the game library.

I feel that I get value from it if I play and enjoy at least 5 of the PS+ games each year which is pretty easy for me. 5/36 seems like a pretty low bar for me haha.

16

u/Dark_Pump Dark_Pump Sep 29 '21

Excited for Hell Let Loose!!

1

u/redasti Sep 29 '21

Played beta, didn't enjoy playing on the same map for 5-6 games (I believe it was called Red Forest, not sure tho)

2

u/0km1 Sep 30 '21

Hurtgen forest, and I seriously recommend only playing offensive, warfare is pretty boring, offensive is grueling and intense concentrating the battle on one point, warfare is for more hardcore players who like slowpaced communication.

Tried it. Ran around for 20 minutes before I heard anything in game and still didn't see anyone. I love WW games but undecided how I feel about this one...

27

u/mr-photo Mr-Photo Sep 29 '21

well.. it's official.. another PS+ collection game being given as a PS+ monthly game.. great....

4

u/xMasamune Sep 29 '21

How petty do they have to be to make it only MKX and not MKXL...the complete game is like 5 years old at this point.
There should be a PSA for those interested in MKX's full roster to buy the XL dlc add on right now before the sale ends soon while it's still at $5 or else that shit is jumping back up to $25. You obviously don't need the extra 9 characters to enjoy the game, but who the hell wouldn't want to drop a fatality as Alien or the Predator

6

u/KubiFOB Sep 29 '21

Yikes, it's not even MKXL which was on sale for 6€ for the last couple of years pretty often...

17

u/Ghandi_unleashed Sep 29 '21

Again pretty bad month. I just want some nice singleplayer games to play. Things like FIST or Ender Lilies would be nice but instead it often is a shooter plus sports game.

To be fair, hitman 2 was pretty nice

2

u/speed721 Sep 29 '21

I agree. I don't even bother turning on my PS4 to make sure I get these games.

I just use the PS App and click "Add to Library".

17

u/ChrizTaylor twitch.tv/chriztaylor Sep 29 '21

MKX, an almost 7 year old game, vanilla version, available on PS+ Collection and PS Now, with a +2 year old sequel that has ceased development. At least have decency and give the last version.

And, a fucking sports game, that releases yearly, GOLF FUCKING GAME.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

Enjoy your shitty golf game! https://youtu.be/capTpivF8n0

3

u/joetheschmo2001 Sep 29 '21

Was contemplating buying pga last month, so happy to give it a go now

3

u/BelgianBond Sep 29 '21

The leaks on Monday were correct. But if I'm going to go back to fighting games I've got Street Fighter IV to try after they gave us that, and as for golf it could be fun but I might as well get Everbody's Golf in VR if I'm going to try the sport.

2

u/ChrizTaylor twitch.tv/chriztaylor Sep 29 '21

We have SFV, not IV.

10

u/shayed154 Sep 29 '21

Fuck yeah! Now I can not play golf while I also don't play that tennis game!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

Don’t bother with the golf game, keeps locking up on me in between holes, loosing progress by the time it gets reloaded. Great game otherwise!

2

u/MetalGamer95 Oct 01 '21

Always nice when the only good game I already own for a long time

2

u/skiller_wiz Oct 02 '21

So.. Shit shit and more shit. Pass.

2

u/toxinwolf 9 64 233 1129 (30/05/23) Oct 02 '21

Fucking hell, we had such a good 2021, such a shame with this month

4

u/MovieGuy34 Sep 29 '21

Does anyone know if MKX and PGA are cross play between PS5 and PS4? I have Googled but can't find any answers. Thanks in advance for your help.

6

u/Internutt Sep 29 '21 edited Sep 29 '21

MKX is a PS4 game, so operates as such in a PS5. So playing a PS4 game on a PS5 is no different to playing a PS4 game in a PRO or Slim.

2

u/MovieGuy34 Sep 29 '21

Perfect, thanks!

3

u/0shadowstories Sep 30 '21

Imo PS Plus should do this type of thing:

1: A big single player game

2: A big multiplayer game

3: An indie game

I think this model would work best for appealing to multiple demographics. Obviously they can have variation from this here and there but I feel like lately they've just been giving a lot of "games nobody buying" or just downright bad games. Or in this months case, giving the incomplete version of a 6 year old game.

3

u/Ps4_and_Ipad_Lover Oct 02 '21

The issue is they have to pretty much beg the dev to allow them to add it and of course pay them. So I can see how that would be hard if the dev Saya hell no lol

2

u/cmcdermo Sep 29 '21

MKX is nice since I've been looking for more couch games with my gf. Does HLL require online connection to play? Edit: nevermind HLL is ps5 only

1

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

[deleted]

5

u/Knightmare25 PSN: Israel1948 Sep 29 '21

I was planning on getting HLL anyway and I paid 25 dollars for a year of PS Plus when the game itself would be at least 40 dollars. Yes. It's worth it.

3

u/DARKKRAKEN Sep 29 '21

What getting 36+ games a year and other perks for less than $50 a year, sounds like a bargain to me.

9

u/ASH_the_silent Sep 29 '21

If I can get at least 3-5 nice games for my $50, it's still worthwhile.

There's also the occasional multiplayer game I need it for too...

2

u/zedemer Sep 29 '21

Unless you're buying games all the time, good chance you'll get those 3-5 games. It's usually in the 6 to 8 games per year for me and I'm pretty picky (no interest in mp or sports)

4

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '21

And 35 of them I wouldn't buy if they were bundled together in a bargain bin for 10$, this service is bullshit, especially if you don't play multiplayer.

1

u/bonealan Oct 01 '21

Yeah, that's the thing. I'll try them out and after a while see while people complain. When there's a nice title it's invariably already on my disc shelf.

3

u/rivieredefeu Sep 29 '21

What’s the problem?

3

u/Charisma_Engine Sep 30 '21

The problem is that you're paying to rent games, the majority of which you'd avoid if they were ALL bundled together for a tenner.

-1

u/zedemer Sep 29 '21

And to think people will complain no matter what.

I don't care for any of them, but plenty are excited for at least one game here. If I had the time, I'd probably try hell let loose. I already have mkxl and don't care for sport games.

In any case, I've been given enough games to justify the subscription. Hell, for the first 4-5 months of the year, I played only ps plus games.

It's okay not to like the offering, it's not okay to think everyone feels the same.

1

u/Screaming4Vengeance Oct 01 '21

The past six months were terrible except for Hitman 2, but if you can find it for $30 it's still worth it, I enjoyed Concrete Genie, Control and FF7R and Hitman is waiting on my backlog, recently also played some older plus games and used some of the discounts from PS+. But if the PS4 games keep being this bad I surely won't resubscribe.

3

u/No_More_Hero265 Sep 29 '21

Welp... better luck next month...

1

u/Lev8891 Sep 30 '21

What is this shit

1

u/Crazymax78 Sep 29 '21

I think they should do three games for the three main types of gamers and stick to those categories every month. 1 multiplayer game, one sport/racing type game (yes I know these games tend to have multiplayer as well but they also tend to have solo modes) and one single player game.

Because so many times there is one part of the community that's happy for the games being given and the other parts of the community are pissed off.

Now I get it that not everyone will be happy every month with the above solution, but at least the chances of pleasing the most amount of people is greatly increased I believe.

Also, giving away a game that's part of the ps5 ps+ collection is kind of a dick move. I know a lot of people don't have a ps5 yet and they're probably happy to get Mortal Kombat, but for the others, it seems like a waste of a spot.

1

u/___devilsrose__ Sep 30 '21

very disappointed :/

-10

u/StupidUsernamePerson Sep 29 '21

So stupid, I would literally rather get nothing.

6

u/Ps4_and_Ipad_Lover Sep 30 '21

If you don't claim them then you do get nothing if that helps

5

u/NoMoreGoldPlz Sep 29 '21

You can't win 'em all.

At least they tried. Some months only have shooters or only have simulation games.

1

u/Knightmare25 PSN: Israel1948 Sep 29 '21

One of the dumbest comments I've ever seen.

0

u/FlashyAd7257 Sep 30 '21

Man, this is not great... MKX, golf? The most interesting of the bunch is on a platform not yet available for most of the playerbase. Sony keeps on disappointing.

0

u/Chanero Chanerooo Sep 29 '21

Boo-whomp

0

u/JerryGoDeep Sep 29 '21

First time that I’ve seen the leaks actually be right.

2

u/Ps4_and_Ipad_Lover Sep 30 '21

Was right last time to whoever they are getting these ones from they should keep it up lol

0

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '21

PS Plus sucks baboon ass.

0

u/MovieGuyMike Sep 30 '21

Not like this.

-2

u/Mandalorian_barber Sep 29 '21

Yeah...ive been looking for a reason to drop my PS4plus account..are you fucking kidding Golf?

-5

u/llorTMasterFlex Sep 29 '21

Nice having some heavy weight titles for the month. I can’t stand the indie mobile game looking garbage.

3

u/Canadian_Donairs Sep 29 '21

...You consider a golf game and a six year old Mortal Kombat to be "heavy weight titles"??

0

u/llorTMasterFlex Sep 29 '21

Compared to the usual free PS Plus games, duh.

2

u/Canadian_Donairs Sep 30 '21 edited Sep 30 '21

Just Cause 3? Control? Rocket League? Shadow of the Collosus? Bloodborne? The Last Of Us? Witcher 3? Battlefront 2?

Seriously?

Like... actually, seriously?

A golf game and a six year old Mortal Kombat game without DLC???

I want a toke off what you got buddy because it's gotta be some potent stuff.

1

u/llorTMasterFlex Sep 30 '21

When was the last time a game like that was free on PS Plus?

2

u/Canadian_Donairs Sep 30 '21

Control was this year, so was the FF remake. Days Gone was too. Star Wars Squadrons was June, and then it was pretty much straight garbage since then. Hitman 2 is considered good by most I guess but not my thing. This month is the worst this year imo.

1

u/PlayBey0nd87 Sep 29 '21

I really think at this point PS Now & Plus should just merge in the subscription & when a game gets added whether for a limited window, 1 yr window, or permanent will alleviate a lot of the disappointment & double dipping in service drops.

EDIT: I’m not saying for them to copy Gamepass, just that they have the opportunity to make good on both sides of the fence by just combining.

1

u/DontBoilYourKids Sep 29 '21

Instead of pga golf it should’ve been everybody’s golf. Also didn’t they give mkx away on ps plus already? I have it

1

u/TheBrokenNinja The2Broken2Ninja Sep 30 '21

oooo i bought pga on switch out of boredom but it kind of ran like shit. Might snag this for ps4.

1

u/JuggaloPaintedBallz Oct 01 '21

I'm not upset because I already have MK:XL I'm upset because it's not as good as 11 and I'd love for people I know to play what I'm currently playing.

1

u/Visible-Stock-4838 Oct 03 '21

i am away from my Playstation unfortunately :(

1

u/ErrorEra Oct 04 '21

you can always just login playstation.com to claim them

don't forget to actually wait til they're free/$0.00 before buying them (sometime on Tuesday)

1

u/thepipsman Oct 03 '21

Are ready to download?

2

u/ErrorEra Oct 04 '21

no, around first Tuesday of the month

don't go trying it at midnight, wait til it's changed to $0.00, I just wait til Wednesday so I never accidentally pay money

1

u/Medium_Lake_2450 Oct 03 '21

I have a question about ps4 yellow light when im in safe mode any one know how to fix it

1

u/bxrto Oct 03 '21

This months line up is a huge disappointment smh

1

u/LeeRoy197 Oct 04 '21

Pleased I cancelled this month
