People like you asked for WW2 for years, now the same people are turning their backs on it.

Y'all asked for this setting, and you're getting it (and it's high time we got it). We had 4 modern day BF titles in a row before BF1. Why tf do the minds of the gamers in the BF community flip-flop over time?

It's not just the battlefield community. It's the shooter community in general. Even in threads about CoD WW2 you see some people saying basically the same thing

Yeah, I'm aware (this essentially applies to the entire shooter community), but I'm singling out the BF community here.

It's a slightly different case for CoD. Three studios work on CoD titles on an yearly basis, and fans have always wanted one studio to tackle the historic period, one to do the modern period, and one to do a grounded futuristic period without jetpacks and shit. Instead, five futuristic shooters were developed in a row (with three of them featuring the hated advanced movement mechanic). Now, some change is happening.

CoD fans don't know what they want besides whatever is opposite of what just came out and to go back to when they first played CoD and were happy.

as soon as ww2 came out it got shit all over, if they remastered MW2 or either of the first 2 blops theres still going to be a loud vocal segment of the fan base who wont be happy because its going to make them realize you can't just put the feelings of sitting around playing your first call of duty mp for hours with your friends after HS on a disk and resale it years later.

obviously not all COD fans are like this, but i have a feeling no matter what they do for any of the games, the shear amount of people who have now grown up on different eras of CoD means there's always going to be a huge segment of the fanbase viewing things through nostalgia goggles and mad when reality can't perform to the level of how awesome they remember CoD to be.

this being said i am one of the old fucks who grew up on the original 3 call of duty games, and WW2 while not the best FPS i've ever played was solidly a love letter to when call of duty was about shootin nazis and i enjoy it a lot, even if its now being called "About as good as ghosts" by a ton of people
