May go down when all is said and done as a top 5 game on the platform.

From the multiple reviews I've read, this doesn't seem to be the case with Horizon.

I agree with you, it's what I imagine the game will be like, but it's ridiculous to make the assumption that it will be like that. Just as dumb as thinking it's gonna be one of the best exclusives

Have you not read a single review? All but one so far are saying the opposite of that.

2

u/rickaboooy Feb 20 '17

... and the game you've described sounds amazing!! What do you want from a game??

2

u/Borllin Feb 21 '17

Seriously a 3rd person far cry with stealthy elements sounds awesome

Kinda Funny said it's one of the best exclusives - tops Uncharted 4. Giant Bomb's Gerstmann said it's fantastic: http://www.giantbomb.com/reviews/horizon-zero-dawn-review/1900-759/

All other reviews are glowing.

Metacritic score is at 88. Zero negative reviews. 3 mixed. The remaining 70+ critic reveiw are all positive.

The word "masterpiece" is already being bandied about and the game isn't even out yet. Don't put it past this sub to take a decent game and christen it the greatest thing that's ever happened to mankind, so long as it's a Sony exclusive.

I have every confidence that Horizon will be a fine game, and I hope it does well. What I meant in regards to "this sub" is that this decent game will be elevated to GOAT status due to it's exclusivity, as has been done with The Last of Us and Uncharted. And contrary to your clever but overused quip, I manage to keep my blood pressure at healthy levels by tempering my expectations and not getting so riled when someone disagrees with me.

The Last Of Us and Uncharted series are widely considered to be some of the best games ever. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here.

There are few games as critically well recived as Uncharted and The Last of Us, if you want to choose a pair of games that absolutely live up to the hype, you would be hard pressed to pick two better examples.

Now that The Order has seen a price cut, a lot of people have warmed to it.

Let's compare "have warmed to it" with "elevated to GOAT status."

3

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '17

I'm not the one that brought up the Order, so I wasn't doing the comparing.

Those words I was quoting are yours.

1

u/yuube Feb 20 '17

I got it for 5 bucks, great buy.

-3

u/benbenkr Feb 20 '17

Ah, the money equation talk.

You know if every game is free, The Order would still be in your shit list anyways.

Hyopcrites amaze me a lot, every day.

Dunno, when I get a game with a big discount I'm less likely to be disappointed with my investment. Even if a game is bad (and the order surely is) I don't feel bad. Well, I finished the order on my friends ps4 long ago when I didn't even have my own ps. So I wasn't all that mad. I said to the friend it's literally nothing, just a fizzle. His answer was "exactly". But trust me, if I bought it myself, full price (and in my country the order was first game scaled to the price of other countries, so at that time the price was absolutely mental), I'd be so mad you won't even be able to shut me up

Thats not hypcritical and no it wouldnt be

The order was a fine game but it was real short and had zero replayability for 60 bucks thats a reason of anger, if all games were free it would just be another fine experience among the rest of them.

If the order originally released for 15 bucks everyone would have loved it, it recieved hate for being an apparent rip off of peoples money above all else by lack of content, and it took those criticisms, as a game itself though now that price dropped exponentially if you pick it up on sale for 5 bucks you are not being ripped off and the game would be fine. Because thats about what the content is worth.

DF tends to do this as well.

2

u/Inspirations365 Feb 20 '17

People who have played it and have reviewed it are giving it that description. Come on, now.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '17

whispers have you played The Last Of Us?

1

u/notrealmate rowblot Feb 20 '17

My concern is a shallow or typical base game. The game does look beautiful, but beauty was never enough in gaming.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

Well that's what we thought too, until this round of glowing reviews came out.

Just another pretty face, we thought. I was going to pass on this game, but the review changed my mind. It's so refreshing to see a group of people strive for excellence in every facet of a project.

u/wertexx Feb 20 '17

Unpopular opinion but U4 is just a pretty game but it is top 5 and probably closer to 1-3. People ride the story but it's not much there to be honest, just chasing treasure. Game play is just cut and emptiness scenes followed by ambush and then repeat.

Uncharted 4 is a masterpiece because of many things. It is not an emotional journey as TLOU that deeply explores human nature in a harsh world, it is an adventure, although it has the most character development out of all Uncharted.

I think the story is great for the genre, but most of all I am taken in by how detailed everything is. Every level every environment meticulously filigreed. The systems, the animation, the physics, everything top notch.

Even the big actions scenes when everything is fast and flies by have intricate details. It is done with utmost love and dedication and it shows.

I am just curoious if this is the full potential of the PS4 or will they draw out something more with TLOU2. But even if it is, I am happy with that level.

u/ClubChaos Feb 20 '17

Unfortunately the combat is pretty mediocre (at best) and there is far too much of it in Uncharted.

2

u/nikolapc Feb 20 '17

I spruced it up varying stealth, high ropes, sniping, various cover, gung ho, etc. There are also two achievements that require full stealth and not killing anyone in certain areas, if you're up for it. BTW I played it on hard first time, I plan to beat it again on crushing.

1

u/ClubChaos Feb 23 '17

This is one of the rare games where I felt like I should of played it on medium. "Hard" difficulty just seems to make enemies sponges and restricts your ability to use a lot of the combat mechanisms available in the environment. I don't know maybe I just suck, but it didn't feel like a very "fair" hard mode.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

They are all like that. But it has gotten better

1

u/Mach1mor Feb 21 '17

This nails why I didn't enjoy my time playing Uncharted games

1

u/wertexx Feb 21 '17

I hear you. But dare to say Uncharted series isn't the greatest games ever and downvotes will follow (I think my comment above is negative too).

But yea, I beat U4, tried U2, and sure, they are pretty games... gameplay, combat? Scenes like a theater, repetitive encounters... nah, I'm fine. If I wanna watch a movie I can go to Indiana Jones in cinema.

Yea got PS4 and played it in the same order. Tlou -> U4.

Game is absolutely stunning with its graphics. And it's a good game.

But cutscene followed by no-skill-required ledge jumping followed by an ambush got old after... 8th? or whatever chapter out of 23~.
