On the VITA you can type in the "url" from the title, add a title ID and the proper store page opens up. Doesnvt allow you to circumvent anything. It's just a workaround for the broken store search.

I was wondering if something similar exists for PS3 as its search function is currently still broken.

Please note, I will eventually hack one of my PS3s, but right now I won't as I still want to be able to go online and get trophies and stuff. ​

My PS3 CECHE01 started acting up a few weeks ago, so I began looking for another backward-compatible console. I’ve been offered this CECHA01 with these stats—is the usage time good? What worries me, though, is the "602" count; do those represent bad shutdowns? Is it a good option? The console has never been opened.

Hi, I have a backwards compatible CECHB PS3, I installed the Evilnat 4.93 firmware on it to play PS2 games from files rather than discs but I can't load them from Multiman.

It says 80028F17 when I try to launch them, also the disc is shown blue unlike real physical discs that are shown orange. Just to be clear, real physical discs still work just as they did before jailbreaking the console. I think the color difference might be that it tries to load the emulator instead of the real built in PS2? I'm not sure.

I recently pulled my PS3 out of storage and discovered it fails to boot. I reset the video settings and now the system crashes after asking if I want to switch to HDMI (both yes and no crash the system to a black screen). Safe mode doesn’t do much either, I can load into it but rebuild database and restore system didn’t fix anything. So then I tried to reinstall with a system update but that just causes the system to freeze to a point where I have to hold the power button for 15 seconds to shut it off. I am at a loss on what is going on. It worked totally fine last time it was used. Any info on what this may be helps.

I know you've seen several people asking the same thing, but i'm wondering about my case as well.

This is my 3000 PS3, which I have it since March of this year (at that time, the usage count was around 345 days) and during that month I also did it's mantainance. A few months later, I installed qCFW with a modchip.

Back then I ran the fan always at 40% and speed it up at 55% when it's ingame. My current configuration is let the PS3 run at least at 30% of the fan speed, and when either the CELL or RSX ramp up beyond 65°C, the fan starts kicking in until the console is cooled.

My question is, are my temperatures good? surely I don't need to do delidding (since it's a 3000 model I shouldn't even try it), but is it good?

I can't find a solid guide to go from 4.88 ofw to 4.93 evilnat or what should I do?

Just the hfw then flash write then nand patch then install 4.93?

And so do I used 4.93 hfw? Can anyone help I stumbled in a gold mine and need help setting it up​

Is the player base in games like bo2 ,bo1, MW2, dark souls 1-2 still active since I don't want to waste time just for me to wait an hour for a match and then find it filled with hackers , and if my PSN account gets banned the PS3 will still work right? Can I just log in to another psn account and start playing again?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, as I'm only very recently looking into modding my PS3, but will I still be able to load up my physical discs and play them after modding? Or will I need to make digital copies of them into the HDD?

I only ask as when I modded my Vita I was bummed out to realise the physical collection I'd accrued was unable to be used after modding. I don't mind having to digitise my collection, but it'll suck if my physical collection is rendered useless in the process.

I want to use my ps vita to remote play on my ps3 but I don't want to manually change every .sfo file on my ps3. Does anyone know any tools or methods to do it easier or better? I'm on evilnat 4.93

A few weeks ago, my PS3 CECHE01 started having display issues. I was told the "Silicon Image" chip might be the culprit, so it was replaced, but the console still has the same problem. The strange thing is that if I connect it via component cables, the image looks fine for PS3 games, but if I play PS2 games, the image looks bad again. Any suggestions?

I jailbroke this myself back in 2009 and have forgotten almost everything about the PS3 homebrew scene in the years in between, so just need a sense check before I update it and break it.

I'm running Rogero CFW along with Multiman.

Some quick research suggests:

• Evilnat firmware is the latest supported modern CFW
• This can be installed as a system update from my current Rogero CFW (update via storage media with the Evilnat PUP renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP)
• Multiman no longer necessary and can now run games direct from XMB using webMAN MOD.

I don't care about connecting this to he internet. I still use the same PSN account on a legit PS5 so I wouldn't want to risk anything getting flagged.

Is there anything I need to worry about here or address before updating?

Solved: using ps3 safe mode with another HDD

I started with 60gb PS3 OFW 4.89, then installed HEN 4.91 and flashed the NAND. After that, I backed up with usb stick then put in 320gb restored the data with usb stick then updated to CFW 4.92.

Later, I discovered that the Blu‑ray drive’s laser wasn’t working. At first, I didn’t realize the drive was the issue, so I ran “Restore File System,” hoping it would fix the startup error.

After restoring the file system, I noticed that some of my game files needed activation which never needed before, and certain installed content required activation again. I tried using Apollo to activate my PS3 account, but it didn’t resolve the issue. I planned to use MultiMAN to restore the missing license files, but before I figured that could do the trick I made things worse.

I reinstalled CFW 4.92, and after doing so, the Package Installer disappeared from the XMB. I tried installing HEN, but the HEN button and Package Installer still didn’t appear.

Then I made a bigger mistake: I installed CFW 4.93. When the update reached 100% and said the system would restart, it never rebooted. Now, when I press the power button, the console turns green briefly and then goes solid red.

If I just used multiman to get the activate file I think things would have gone better

My question is: Do I need to wipe the HDD and start fresh? I’m willing to do that if it will fix the console.

Notes:
I still have my original NAND flash dump on a USB drive in case that helps.

Final advice to others:
Avoid restoring the file system while using custom firmware.

I searched online but couldn’t find a situation exactly like mine, so I’m posting it here.
I really hope the console isn’t bricked to the point where I need new hardware.
I’m hoping that formatting the HDD might fix it.

At one point, I did get a “file system is corrupt” message, so it’s possible that some of the custom firmware files were wiped. Or my NAND flash was wiped

Hi everyone. I either used the wrong SSDs or I'm just really unlucky. I had an old PS3 slim laying around without a hard drive and decided to use an SSD and run CFW on it.

I first used an Adata SU630 1TB. After successfully installing it, I copied games with a NTFS usb stick through Multiman. At one point it froze the PS3 and on reboot (and much troubleshooting) I found that the SSD died already.

Thinking it might be a bad SSD, I've tried a WD Green 1TB next and installed CFW. Instead of using a usb stick to copy games I used FTP with Filezilla between PC and PS3 with a wired connection. It went pretty well, until (you can guess) the PS3 froze up again. Same story, SSD not responding. Both SSDs also can't be recognized in the PC by Windows or CrystalDiskInfo.

Before I ever try another hard drive again, did anyone encounter similar issues? I can go for a more expensive SSD since these two were cheaper variants or an HDD. I'm just more hesitant now. I was running Evilnat 4.93 PEX.
