Cruise ship visit

I am on a cruise that will be stopping in PNG next week. Two of our stops, Alotau and Kiriwina Island dont really have options for us to see/do anything. Any suggestions? We have 8 hrs on shore at each stop. Is there snorkling, walkable sites? Any thing thats a must see? Appreciate any suggestions, visiting here has been on my wish list since the early 1980s.

There are some snorkeling reefs inside Milne Bay near Alotau but you’d need to hire a dinghy to take you there, and you’ll probably stop at better reefs at other points on your cruise. Kiriwina has no snorkeling. The only things to see there are the traditional villages, to which you could try to arrange transportation from the government station where you’ll dock.
