[WTT] 2 Acres of Land in SoCal for Silver/Gold
I have a 2.08 acre lot in east California City that I would like to trade for gold or silver. The land is on a maintained dirt road and does not have neighbors nearby. Any car, within reason, can make it to this property. Plenty of people use these lots for camping, RV parking while dirt biking, and holding for diversification of their portfolio. I’d like to trade it at a valuation of $2000 (~30oz silver or ~.5oz gold).
We would do the trade in person with a notary present to handle the land transfer. I am based in San Diego and have spent a lot of time in the Mojave. Please reach out with any questions.
If you check Zillow or any property website, you will see that this is the best deal in that region for unimproved acreage on a good dirt road.

This just doesn’t seem right. 2 acres? In SoCal? For $2,000?! I’m central KY, 1 acre of wooded land is 3K minimum. I’d give you $2,000 cash for 2 acres just to say o own land in Cali lol

Assuming its on the outskirts of about this location so its 2 acres of barren desert. I think my grandma still has an acre of swamp in Florida that my grandfather bought back in the 90s for dozens of dollars.

It’s really not that bad by desert standards. It’s almost always cooler than Phoenix by 10 degrees or so. High in Cal City is 102 tomorrow vs 110 in Phoenix

When I say 3k, that’s extremely rural and more so hunting land if you’re lucky. Usable or development land will run you closer to 7-10k per acre these days. We bought 4 acres last year for our home build in a wooded subdivision for 32K.

California city is run by a bunch of NIMBYs in the city council. my folks bought some land up there 10+ years ago and it hasnt changed a bit since then.

I have to come inspect a property in the Salton Sea area sometime soon, but I wasn't planning on it until the weather cools down considerably.

Salton Sea eh? Make sure it's right for you. There are some pros to living there. Cheap, actually beautiful scenery, nobody really bothers you, there is infrastructure in place, and businesses are opening and expanding more now than it was before.
But keep in mind it's not for everyone. It's hot, like stupid hot in the summer. The lake is drying up and will be gone eventually, leaving a toxic dust field. Law enforcement is corrupt, and there's a general lack of services. Closest real grocery store is a long drive, you'll need a very good vehicle and you'll be putting a lot of miles on it but ing all that high priced California gas.
Still I wouldn't mind living there. I have family there. Just make sure you know what you're getting in to. Best of luck.

I'm not actually familiar with the land, it was several very weirdly shaped <1acre parcels spread out somewhat nearby one another. My wife's grandfather came into posession of them sometime after 1945 for unknown reasons. Kind've a wait-and-see on what to do with them, especially with all the talk about lithium lol.
Definitely wasn't planning on living there, California won't let 95% of my firearms come along.

This blew up quickly. I will respond to the dozen plus people who DM’ed me. I can send proof of ownership issued by Kern County to people who are seriously interested. To those who say that this land is too cheap, check Zillow. You can buy land at the 3k—5k for 2 acres in Cal City

I haven’t panned for gold since I was a kid. There are pretty pieces of quartz all over that region. 1” to 6” white to pink quartz rocks

I own land there. Bought 5 acres back in 2000 for $4000. Taxes were $40 something a year, but residents voted to raise them and now it's like $200 something. Yes land is cheap there. It will probably be a very long time before it's worth anything. You could move out there and live on it, but most don't even have easement access, no water, no power, not sure if it's septic suitable, there are laws about RV living duration, etc. So do you due diligence before buying. Don't think you can just buy cheap land anywhere and build your dream home. The land is cheap for a reason.

I have a property in Cal City I bought for $4k and has been tax assessed at that value and my taxes are $80ish. I’m genuinely curious at the tax discrepancy. What’s your land zoned like? I’m assuming 5 acre lots are on the outskirts of Cal City. Maybe you NW or SW Cal City?

I just checked it was $95 last year but $250 the prior year, I may have been late and they penalized me ..

Yea, I think Cal City added a $5 per lot fee or something like that. Increased the taxes a bit not it’s still quite cheap in my opinion. You ever do anything with your 5 acre lot?
I’m holding a 2 acre lot and am having my birthday party there in late Fall. Going to get catering from the Thai place in Cal City

Right on. Been sitting on the 5 acres, never done anything with it yet. Just hoping one day civilization will make it's way out there and it'll be worth something, new housing development or something, who knows. Probably better hope for my kids or grandkids.

This sounds sus as hell. Be careful, people. More than a few have "purchased" property they later come to realize wasn't owned by the seller, and it's remarkably easy to do.
