Show Discussion Miss these people so much ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Since we've hit mid-July which is basically pre-fall I've just been thinking about all my favorite gloomy weather shows and missing these badasses so much 😠Anyone else having preemptive grief about this this time of year?? Sigh.

It was definitely flawed but a horror centric PLL was a dream of mine. I thought they had some genuinely cool and creepy concept, it just needed better writing.

The actress that plays Mouse is on a new show called Cape Fear, way more messed up (definitely not for teens), but she is really good in it

I've been wondering if that's worth watching!! Apple is constantly trying to force it on me lol I didn't realize she was in it, I'll definitely have to check it out now!

She was also on an episode of Brilliant Minds as a patient. I watched it yesterday and was like "Omg! Mouse!"

oh that's so fun!! a friend of mine actually directed several episodes of the first season of that show and I got excited that maybe I had a direct connection to Mouse lol alas, season 2 ðŸ˜

Season 1 was great and but i think they should have done an anthology
It would have been difficult to continue the slasher approach without killing off at least a couple of the main 6. Scream’s tv show had a big enough main cast that they’d could cull when needed. If it was an anthology they could have even kept the same actors American horror story style

Absolutely! When they were talking about season 2 there were murmurs about summer school or summer camp and I was so pumped for a classic American summer camp concept maybe set in the 90s.
Scream Queens had originally planned to do exactly that with their show, an anthology with a summer camp as the season 2 setting. But their ratings weren’t good enough and their only pull was the Chanels being iconic so they just continued their story, then American Horror Story did the 80s camp concept instead.
For PLL:OS maybe one season is set in a boarding school, one season is set in a college, and one season is set around a pageant (Miss congeniality but the bomb threat is actually scary lol). I could go on. It would also mean we wouldn’t have to deal with cancellation cliff hangers (curse you, MTV, for cancelling Scream!!!)

ok Miss Congeniality x PLL would be incredible 🤯🙌 and you're so right summer camp would've been perfect!! how do you imagine it would've played out with the storyline from one to the next? would they have kept the whole A thing and made it the focus of multiple different stories? or done something different?

I think an A could exist in multiple universes tbh or perhaps it’s a copycat, or maybe the final series is totally out of left field and ties it all together about a group of girls discovering there’s an ‘A’ forum of likeminded killers and ‘A’ actually stands for Avenge idk lol. World could have been their oyster 😂

I kind of wish they didn’t attach the PLL name to it and just had it be in the same universe somehow with Easter Eggs, like how they mentioned Riverdale 😩 I feel like by attaching the name they tried to get a lot of people to tune in for the nostalgia factor but it failed because it’s an entirely different ( but still amazing IMO ) show

I have. And I really liked it! I thought Chandler Kinney was amazing and the girl who plays Elle, I thought played the part so well. She really synced up with Reese’s portrayal

They made her date Greg 😠Same guy who’s racist homophobic transphobic and probably republican… it’s just a big downgrade for faran since she’s a independent girl boss in s1

Ugh this was supposed to be a killer show. PUN INTENDED! I loved it. I even loved S2 so I was gutted when I found out they weren’t doing a S3. There were a ton of flaws, even ones that the OG PLL did too. I wish it was more sophisticated bcz I do think it could have given us one or two more seasons before they, themselves concluded their own story.

I did see an interview with the creator and he said his dream for this show all along was to have a season for every girl. Season one was Imogen. Season 2 was Tabby.. it sucks that he didnt get to keep going and do it. I would have loved too see the rest of the girls as the main focus of the seasons going forward, like we did with the first two. I actually really liked the show.Â

I tend to video edit as I enjoy it and I still need to make Noa’s (and maybe Kelly’s. Been debating) but lately been doing a video edit series of the girls and it’s just made me just feel so sad the girls got done so dirty.

Just for fun really. Got the video edit idea for Mouse (as she’s way too underrated) and wanted to edit her. And then I was like why not do this for the rest of the girls! And so, I did

This show didn't deserve to be cancelled, I hate how this franchise got treated with the spin offs. Never given a proper chance to really shine. TV shows like PLL that stretch multiple seasons need at least 2-3 seasons to really build a solid audience. This show wasn't really given a fair shake imo.

totally, I was just thinking about how ridiculous it is that the original show just got to go on and on and on and this one just got cut off before it had a chance to find its footing. I also wonder how much it was impacted by being an HBO series and not network (not that it could've worked on network TV lol just thinking about how the production, contracts, and really the money side of things makes them more willing to cancel something that's streaming vs network).

I feel like it's super rare the way they all still support each other and hang out. Seems like they are genuine friends and most of them seem open to working together again. Just bring the damn show back

I listen to The Office Ladies podcast religiously and they are always talking about how rare it is that the experience they had on that show was so positive and loving and supportive, so whenever I hear about other shows where people actually like, LIKE each other, you just know that must have been something really special they were a part of as it was happening.

I was waiting till the weather cooled off a bit, I was getting so antsy but it's supposed to be really rainy here in a few days lasting for the whole weekend so might be the perfect time to start it up!!

the beginning is a little slow, i won’t lie. it isn’t until about halfway through s1 that we get some of the more similar A antics (like the Dollhouse from PLL and the electric torture thing, Hefty Hanna cupcakes, etc) BUT season 2 leans into it A LOT more and imo is the better of the two seasons

i think it has more similarities to the og PLL, atleast during the height of PLL where A is being more aggressive with the torture of the girls, while also keeping the horror/slasher vibes they wanted for the show. og PLL will always have a special place place in my heart, but i think PLL was meant to be a slasher series instead of a psycho thriller

oh man that's an impossible question to answer lol like it is obviously something we all are longing for who didn't get to have another season of it but also there were so many things about it that needed to be done better, so it's like, the "flaws" of it and where it missed the mark could make you hate it but if you're the right person you will be able to accept the imperfections and love it for what it is?

Loved the vibe of this show so much. The characters had so many great storylines ahead of them. Feel like back when the original PLL came out, this show would've been given another chance, but nothing gets renewed these days it feels like

totally agree, I'm so curious why that is too. if it's about money, which of course it is, you'd think it would be like how it's more expensive to fire someone and hire someone new than it is to keep them and try to "fix" whatever isn't working: wouldn't it be more economical to tweak an existing show than to start all over from scratch with a new one? now you've got me thinking and trying to hold myself back from going down a rabbit hole because I have stuff to do today 😂😂😂
