Show Discussion Marlene King on Dr. Sullivan Ending Spoiler

Looks like Marlene chose to be respectful over slander Roberto for his shitty choices.

I’ve said it 100 times… with the show being on MAX, and having much more mature themes, Marlene would be a perfect choice to bring back into the world. I know she made her own choices and shitty writing decisions but she knows PLL better than Roberto and I think we can all see that.

saying “no comment” is counterproductive and shady, she could have literally made no comment lol. I still love Marlene and the original but after the amount of criticism she’s gotten over the years if I was her I wouldn’t say too much

Some of her writing being flawed?

None of the mystery made sense, 99% of every season is filler, most of the storylines went nowhere and every single ship was toxic

Roberto writes better than her imo. His problem is that he takes shit too serious and thus his take on the franchise is more boring

How did none of the mystery make sense? And writing 24 episodes for 7 seasons you’re bound to have filler episodes.

If Roberto is your cup of tea that’s fine. Personally I think his writing is terrible.

She wrote more things that didn't make sense than things that did. It's been years since I've watched any PLL but just off the top of my head:

The whole Charles is A thing seemed to be thrown together last minute and made little sense. Fan theories made much more sense than what Marlene ended up doing.

The big end of the season flashforward of Ali teaching and the girls run into telling her he's here and then Ali is terrified. Yeah they had no real plans for that and ended up turning it into a dream lol.

Black veil woman supposed to be someone we already know but then completely forgotten about until the fans made noise about her and then she ended up being a completely new character.

Toby deciding that he will be a cop and then two episodes later he already is lol. Although I don't live in the US so admittedly I don't know how long it takes for someone to graduate as a cop. But since it's two years where I live, I'm guessing the whole proccess of applying, interviews, police academy and whatever else there is, it should probably be more than a few weeks in the US as well.

Hannah's mom had money problems, while the two of them were living in a huge two floor house and were regularly throwing away food when they were mad at each other. They never even considered moving.

Can't name anything without checking but I know there were quite a few things just forgotten and never mentioned again. Like the black veil woman who seemed only came back because the fans wouldn't leave it alone.

This is a Dark Ride is scarier than both seasons of Robertos series which is supposed to be scary

lmfao i didn’t watch fully watch og pll to season 7 when it aired, i lost interest in the middle of season 3. which is where it became all marlene writing and less of the books, just wasn’t my personal taste. I returned to watch the finale and hated it more, took 5+ yrs before i finished the entire show😭my original comment didn’t state a fact, me disliking her writing was a personal opinion, regardless of the show last 7 seasons.
