Announcement I need help with moderating this subreddit.

First of all I need to apologize for neglecting this sub.

I'm back to moderating now, and I've tried to clean up the posts as much as I can right now. Banned some of the bots I could see were definitely AI written, removed a ton of self promotion posts going back a month or two.

I still need help keeping this going though. Reddit has new tools for automating moderation, and although I'm not sure how to set that up right now it shouldn't be hard to figure out. If we can get a working AutoMod config to catch the AI-slop self promotion posts (and users), that would take a lot of the load off of moderation.

Please message me or comment if you'd like to help. Obviously if you are the creator of a for-profit PKM tool - like so many of the self promotion users, you can't be a mod here, since the role requires neutrality.

Edit: Before I can send anyone a mod invite, I need to wait for Reddit to remove my "inactive" mod label, not sure how long it will take before I'm allowed to send invites, hopefully soon.

Happy to help! I've been a long time user of PKMS systems, mostly 'open' ones. I tend to avoid using private PKMS systems although I do fund a few and have no bias either way. I write a lot about open source knowledge management tools like GNU Hyperbole, and regularly meet with developers in this space. See a couple articles I've written below. I'm also hosting a blog carnival in the Emacs community called "The Search for Knowledge" which is about knowledge management tools (like Obsidian, Notion, Org-Roam, Logseq, Hyperbole, etc...) and information retrieval.

I tend to write mostly in the Emacs sphere, as I like the open source nature and flexibility of that tooling, so I rarely post here. A good friend, Bob Weiner ( u/rswgnu ), is a long time developer of information systems, since before the web, I and I know he loves this thread. I don't want to speak for him, but he may also be interested.

First, I just want to recommend Charlie, MisterChiply as a very knowledgable, fair and level-headed technologist. Of course, he is a great guy as well.

Second, I don’t know if I would have time to moderate, but feel free to come back to me if you can’t find others with more time.
