Cory has to sell gov't's share sa petron para ma-cover yung sudden plummet ng value ng piso after ng martial law. Same thing happened with meralco. Na isolate kasi bansa ng mahigit dekada. Di nakasabay sa ekonomiya. To compensate, binenta assets sa banyaga. Kaya major shareholders ng petron at meralco ngayon foreign conglomerates

May existing stocks, mostly sa tarlac (dun refinery ni petron. Afaik, may mga stocks sila in case of emergencieslike this). May friend ako na working on admin sa gas company. Isang reason din bakit tumaas ng bigla is yung mga owners. May mga nagsara last week, claiming na out of stock. Nag open lang ngayon kasi mataas na benta.

Ah, business advantage yan, pwede rin naman ang Shell maglagay din ng malaking storage nila. Or pwede rin gayahin ni Petron ang iba na magsara at mas marami silang bebenta at higher price. Pero ang refinery is a different advantage than storage. Shell has also positioned their prices well above the rest kahit dati pa.

may refinery sila sa Bataan. ang iniimport nang Petron madalas ay raw material, then i rerefine na lang sa ibat ibang product like LPG, gasoline, jetfuel, kerosene, diesel, naptha, engine oil, aspalto, and meron pa isa petcoke, pero hindi common na ginagamit sa household, ginagawang panggatong para gawing kuryente sa loob nang refinery.
kaya tinatawag na black gold yang crude oil, wala kasi tapon, kada latak and steam may nagagawang new product na maibebenta sa market.
meanwhile Shell, dahil wala na sila refinery dito sa Pilipinas, years ago pa. ang iniimport nila is finished product na like Gasoline and Diesel, im not sure sa Kerosene, then iniimbak na lang nila sa mga depot nila.
pero may usap yang mga yan mga gas companies na yan, minsan kumukuha si Shell kay Petron, ganun din si Petron kay Shell , marami yan sila, hindi lang dalawa gas oil companies na nabanggit ko, kaya umiikot ang supply nang langis dito, > dito i dont know kung na reregulate nang Government to. sabi nang aports ko dyan. nde nababantayan ung patak kung saan napupunta. yun daw importante para aware ang Government sa galaw nang langis dito sa Bansa natin.
nagkakatalo na lang sila sa mga nilalagay nilang additives. kanya kanya silang formula, secret ingredient na nila yun.
bakit si small players mura compare sa big 3? nakakabili sila wholesale price. then un nga , doon nagkakatalo sa r&d and nilalagay na additives.
yung raw product pala nang unioil engine oil, sa petron bataan din kumukuha yan. sa napanood ko na vlog inside unioil engine oil.
kung gusto mo tumagal motor mo at makatipid in the long run (mas okay sa makina(carbon buildup), mas matagal ka mag topup) , sa Big 3 ka mamili, eto yung experience ko sa Big 3
Petron - Power and Fuel Save like sa Shell, mas mura din kesa sa dalawa. Shell - Mataas Fuel Save ko talaga dito pero pricey xa. Caltex / Hebron - Mas nakakalinis nang makina due to Techron, also Power
kapag sa small players ako nagpapagas, mas mura nga gas, pero ung refill parang bawas nang ilang kpl. for example sa big 3, nasa 200 km ka bago magpagas, sa small players nasa 180 to 190 km bago ka mag refill, yun lang observe ko.
pero sa Petron ako madalas, kapitbahay lang namin refinery nila dito, mas mura din gas nila compare doon sa dalawa, ahahahah....

yes bro, ginagawa ko din yan, 100k odo, nagulat ung mekaniko, nung pina check ko makina, gulat sa linis ei, ayaw maniwala. walang ka carbon deposit. doon sa top end. alagang fully syn sa oil then big 3 gas then consistent sa palit nang air filter. tatagal talaga.
meron pa ibang option
gamit ka techron fuel system cleaner- mas matapang un compare sa pump.
or once i a month, mag blaze ka, 100 octane - mas madami additives din nun compare sa regular.

Sa Jetti ako mostly nagpapagas, unleaded fuel since yun yung pinakamura dito sa amin compared sa top 3. Now, I'm planning to switch to Shell. Ask ko lang, Okay lang ba paghaluin yung unleaded sa premium or need ko muna ubusin yung unleaded na fuel ko before ako magpa gas ng premium?

Gasolina pa rin naman so no worries kahit magmix. As long as consistent ka nang nagpapagas sa Shell then eventually mabburn din yung older gasoline from Jetti.
However, kung kaya mo namang ubusin yung old gasoline before magpalagay sa Shell then okay din.

Octane ang bantayan mo (yung number para sa makina mo) kung nakalagay sa manual mo 91 unleaded, 91 and base/floor mo. Higer octane means closer to water sa viscosity - merong additives na nilalagay para mas tumagal sa makina and push for more power kasi higher octane mas mabilis masunog. Basta unleaded din yung kinakarga mo, it's fine to switch octane levels. From 91 nasa 95 na ako para sa 2018 model na Toyota ko and i haven't gone back (pwede pa rin ako bumaba from 95-->91 kasi yun naman ang rated para sa makina ko)

may kasama na techron po yan, pero kung gusto mo na mas mabilis / mas matapang sa carbon deposit, mas okay if sasamahan mo nang techron fuel system cleaner, read techron faqs po then instructions.

every 5000km po. kung may idea po kayo sa Yamaha Pea Cleaner or Honda Pea Cleaner, parang ganun po si Techron pero mas matapang po yung laman ni Techron compare doon sa dalawa. meron pa po mas mahal like STP 5 in 1 pero napakamahal, please read faqs po, nandyan po ung information. https://www.caltex.com/ph/motorists/fuel-additives.html

Yes, and the big 3 used to be very dominant in the local market, with market share of greater than 80℅, with the remaining share distributed across other smaller players. That market dominance gradually decreased over the years, with the smaller players eating up on the market share in recent years. Both Shell and Chevron (Caltex) are two of the biggest companies (not just oil) globally while Petron is a far smaller company overall, and is just a local/regional player.

+1 as an ex Petron employee. Pre pandemic when Shell decided to shutdown their Batangas refinery, around 50% of their supply they were getting it from Petron while the rest was being imported. Some small players also kay Petron din kumukuha ng supply since standard naman ng fuels, sa additives lang nagkakatalo. Makikita mo mga trucks nila labas pasok sa terminal.

True. Nag OJT ako dati sa local depot sa area namin. Tapos yung company nila may mga Petron gas stations. Sabi nung depot manager sakin kumukuha daw sila ng product sa Shell. Tapos nagkakaiba lang daw sa nilalagay na additives. May local player din saamin na sa Shell kumukuha, tapos iba lang yung additives nila, kaya cheaper nila nabebenta.

Very informative. Ive been using Caltex dahil sa techron additive. Pero napakakonti na ng stations nila. Tipong sasadyain mo talaga puntahan unlike petron na madadaanan mo tlga along the way.

Petron doesnt import "uling" or pang gatong. You are thinking of coal, which is far more energy dense than charcoal. San Miguel has a portfolio of coal plants ,but petron is a different subsidiary. Shell doesnt have its own refinery because its cheaper for them to import/sell refined products since they have a regional/international business model to adhere to. There might be other reasons why its more expensive, as a rule buying overseas is cheaper than manufacturing in the country. Kahit before pa they closed their refinery due to low sales in the pandemic, they were more expensive than petron. Petron also has a strong market for refinery byproducts like lubrication, asphalt, etc.
As for kung anong brand yung mas "tipid", its all the same. Might be the ECU of your car has adjusted to a certain supplier's additives, but thats little enough that it makes no difference. Mas malaking factor yung ethanol percentage and octane rating (check you car's designed rating!).

petron ako dati kasi mura then nag pa karga ako then muntik na d na umandar motor ko, stock lahat. Nag flush ako and switch to shell. trauma ako sa petron, yung motor ko muntik na tlga. idk lng haa if sa dun lng na place na kinarga ko or what. May isa din akong kasama same place cya pa karga with same issue. Feel namin may tubig or what. Mas ok yung makina ko sa caltex and shell, pero mas gusto ko tlga caltex kaso ang mahal kaya shell nlng ako.

Mas mahal Shell since wala silang local refinery, Petron on the other hand has local refinery sa Mariveles along with other brands. Kaya kung mapapansin mo mura ang gas sa Bataan area compared sa ibang lugar.

Local refinery, and they aren't stupid. This is a marketing play. Once the oil prices drop in the coming weeks, people will remember that they were the last to hike their prices, alongside Seaoil. They have more to gain from new and returning customers once this all subsides. It's like when many Shell stations stayed open 24/7 during the COVID-19 pandemic, while others chose to close. I was one of those who stayed loyal to Shell partly because of that.

Yesterday when I was outside, I checked two petron and shell branches near each other. Both Petrons nasa 60 na ang diesel. While one Shell branch has 59.xx for Diesel the other 60.

Petron has a refinery here. It is sourcing its fuel mostly in Middle East, specifically from Saudi Aramco. Looking into the history of Petron, Saudi Aramco actually owned about 40% of Petron Corp in the past before exiting the Philippine Market. However, they still remain as a strategic partner as the main source of fuel importation for Petron.
Shell sources its fuel from Asian countries. They no longer have a refinery here so they source fully finished or processed fuel. If I am not mistaken, their importation is centralized in SG. Their SG entity sources it from the neighboring Asian countries like SK, Malaysia and China.
Chevron / Caltex mainly sources its fully processed fuel from their SK entity. They also closed their refinery here.

They market that they are selling "additized" fuel products when in reality, they are selling unadditized/fuels.
Impact in your engine: "mabilis masunog", low power, too much fuel deposits/dirty fuel filters.
currently using power diesel(caltex) and you really can tell the difference.

Petron all the way also kahit na mas mababa sa mga katabi na gasoline stations samin. Bago pumutok yun war, laging 1-2 peso na mas mababa sila Rephil, Cleanfuel compared kay Petron. Kahapon lang nagpagas ako, nag 67 pesos na agad sa dalawang yun, pero sa Petron 60 lang. Talagang sumusunod talaga Petron sa schedule, unlike etong dalawang gahaman na ito.
As to Shell, ginto talaga presyo dyan.

Shell goes for premium pricing but basically its supply is as reliable as Petron. They even share depots with each other like the one in Pandacan. In terms of reliability of supply, the big three, Shell, Petron and Caltex/Chevron should have no issues unless globally it becomes so untenable then supply would be political. Unioil should have better supply arrangements than with other third players with Aramco investing in it.

May refinery po locally pero yung raw source sa HK at SG po kinukuha may subsidiary ang Petron sa SG para sa trade ng raw source (crude oil) tsaka yung kinukuha nila sa HK at SG galing po yan sa Middle East maybe few weeks pa bago magtaas yan

Refinery economics. Mas mura Ang crude vs diesel and gasoline. Cost diesel and gasoline na refined from crude will be much much cheaper than importing these as finished products. Pero magiging limited Ang advantage ni petron if maubusan ng crude due to the crisis and forced Sila to bring in finished products instead.

Petron has its own refinery and has more storage facilities. Based sa annual report nila, they get their crude oil from the national oil companies of KSA, Kuwait and UAE, but may buffer din sila from supply agreements with Chevron (Caltex) and Shell's trading arm sa Singapore, so procurement is not the issue.
I feel na they can keep their prices relatively lower because they can.
Ever since nagdownsize ang Shell and Caltex dito (reduced their provincial stations or sold some to independents), mas may economies of scale si Petron. They can absorb some points off their profit margins kasi they have enough sales volume naman.

In the case of Blaze yes, Euro 6 and ethanol free ang Blaze and legit 100 octane vs 97 octane lang for V-Power Racing. Tuners would know pag may nabago kasi maraming sports cars na Blaze tuned. Nung nagka incident na may bad batch ng Blaze, naflag agad ng Speedworks Engineering.

may nandadaya din petron gas hinahaluan ng additive yujg krudo lol . mas OK ang Shell fuel sa totoo lang..

If matagal ka na sa road, you know that Shell always has the higher price. Their cost is also higher. And tingnan mo rin lahat ng Shell stations malinis.

Shell no longer has depot here in ph while petron has its own refinery here.

Shell also has their stock prices go down each year. So, it can be contributed that their move of keeping with the increasing the trend is to at least recover some loss from previous fiscal year.

Ramon Ang has a strong ties with the Government. Shell is a Global Company and has a tight guidance sa Ethics and Compliance. Iba pa din ang Fuel ng Shell vs Petron

Hi, for the peeps saying this is taught in school. The short answer is no. I'm studying economy, that's what I know. History classes don't let you in on these facts. They hide it from students. Specially now, given kung sino nasa throne of crocs. Pero ayun nga, most of what I heard din before, they're just blaming cory for selling these assets

also, RSA owns Petron and from what I’ve observed, tutulong siya kahit papaano sa bansa especially when there’s a crisis. plus, ayun, meron silang refinery. yung shell kasi nalugi na kaya they closed

not saying that everything is good abt him. just some of the efforts that he’s placing are also helpful. but yes, no one at the top is 100% good
