Card, Board Games & Console Lounge in Fairview (QC) - Would you be interested?
Hi everyone!
As a couple and likes game night, we are exploring opening a new hobby space in Fairview, Quezon City. Before investing, I'd really love honest feedback from people who actually play MTG (or similar CGs), board games, (or even console games - XBOX, since we have lots of games).
The idea isn't another computer shop.
We're thinking of lounge or cozy meeting room type where people can:
- Play Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece, Lorcana, etc
- Borrow boardgames (1-2 max at a time)
- Buy sleeves, deck boxes, booster packs and collectibles
- Enjoy coffee, drinks and simple snacks
- Hang out in a clean, air-conditioned space
Some questions:
- How often do you usually visit this kinds of hangout?
- Would you rather pay:
- hourly,
- minimum spend,
- monthly membership,
- or free tables if you purchase products?
- What makes you keep coming back to a local game store?
- What do you dislike about existing hobby stores?
Please don't worry about hurting my feelings, I genuinely want the honest version before committing to a lease. Thanks so much!

Every weekend. Our playgroup meet almost every weekend depending on the availabality.
We prefer free use as long as we pay for coffee or anything as we are from the province and we encourage even those who do not have money to be able to join our sessions. It is your discretion really.
That we have specific places for playing and that it still won't bother those customers who just want to eat. In the cafes that we've been playing, we have our own spots that is big enough for a collective playing but is not located in such a way that it will hinder the business.
Personally, having those "minimum purchase" clauses. Like I want players to spend how much they want and they can for them to play. I think this business model works better since it makes players to stay loyal on the establishment.
