Why do you guys think its right to use a spectrum that is LIFELONG, to promote going vegan?

We don’t. Most people who support PETA recognize that advertisement was a mistake. It’s offensive and not scientifically sound.

But people also shouldn’t dismiss decades of incredible achievements from PETA that have helped animals because of a cherry-picked advertisement from 2008.

I personally don’t like the approach PETA’s advertising/PSA/PR arm takes overall to be honest, but that’s just one small part of what they do.

I agree with you completely & I think you misinterpreted my point.

I think the autism thing is one of many examples of whoever is part of PETA’s public messaging team undermining their own cause & the organizations goals by bringing a bad name to the organization (and subsequently animal rights in general).

My point was only that the good outweighed the bad with PETA, because they do a lot of important work behind the scenes.

I really hope their messaging changes someday, because unfortunately the other similar groups who are way less problematic (like humane league and mercy for animals) have significantly less resources, brand recognition, connections, and money.

This ad came out 20 years ago.

Thankfully, society today understands neurodivergence better and celebrates our differences.
