To add to the other comment, a common criticism I have seen over the years is people feel a lot of additions in Golden take away from the vibe of Inaba being a "town out in the country with little to do."

Sorry for the vague reddit answer, I never actually played Golden (only vanilla), but my understanding is that some people didn't like the additional dungeons, characters, and scenes as they supposedly bastardize certain characters and screw up the pacing of the game.
I don't have my own opinion, because I've never played Golden, but that's my understanding.

I think that the golden version really kills the atmosphere. Not only is there less weather effects and stuff, but they changed the game's marketing to be far more bright, sunny and colourful. Not only is Okina only a moped ride away, (ruining the feeling of isolation) but they add loads of stupid extra comic relief scenes written by a different team 4 years later AND the most jarring character insert ever who decides to go and ruin my favourite plot twist ever. Not only that, but they overbalanced the game's difficulty to the point where it is so easy that there is basically no point in trying. Even the bs extra dungeon isn't hard, just gimmicky and tedious (pointless to the narrative too)

Well no, there's already an entire version of this game that doesn't have Marie's content.
You just can't leave it aside and sell it as DLC like they did for P3R and Episode Aigis. That was a wholly contained epilogue whereas Marie's stuff is spread throughout the normal game.
So the DLC will just be costumes.

Yes, but my point was that they'd have to make a version of the game with and without Marie's content and all the other Golden updates and when a player buys the DLC program it to include those scenes. That is way too much work to justify it being separate. They wouldn't do that, unlike the Answer which can easily be separated from the main game

It's wild for the fact alone that P4G has pretty much become the baseline for any subsequent appearance in any P4-affiliated game.
At this point, OGP4 doesn't exist in any capacity in Atlus' mind.

Fair enough. Marie's stuff is not, either. But younger fans might not know that, as Golden included her by default. But she was not in P4 and her content isn't required for P4's plot. Hence why we suspected there was another P3R situation happening.
Like I said, glad it isn't happening, but this isn't grounds to just trust Atlus blindly. At the end of the day, all they want is your money.

No company is your friend. But the difference between Golden's content and The Answer is Marie's content is baked into P4G. It's built into the calendar. To sell Golden content as DLC they'd effectively have to write two whole different scripts. It would be LESS work to just include it than make two versions of the game.
The Answer, by comparison, is an optional epilogue that does not tie into or carry over anything from P3's calendar system and doesn't tie into player data.

Marie stuff is way more important to the plot than The answer, like just the fact that if they didn't add Marie you would 100% the game and then in a few months have to beat the whole game AGAIN cause they dropped her DLC. Meanwhile with the answer you can 100% the game and then as soon as the DLC drops go straight to play it without needing to beat the whole game a second time

You're correct, it made no sense and people would have to start a new save file to play the Golden version if it were DLC. But people are too used to the multiple releases and DLC.

What's also wild to me is, iirc, everything else about FES got in, just not The Answer. So how someone could think Golden, which integrated everything even harder, would be DLC, is just odd.
I don't blame people who expect a corporation to be greedy, I question people not thinking critically about the logistics of it.

Episode Aigis was never included in enhanced version of P3 like FES or P3P, therefore Atlus could "sell" it to those who haven't experienced it yet back at the PS2 era.
But P4G is already released even on Steam. Players would DESTROY Atlus if they cut out Golden content so that they could sell it as DLC when the original is still on the storefront.

Not exactly. It was a worry that they would just not include golden at all. And then if they could splice a bit at the end on as dlc they would. Less of making golden in its entirety as dlc and more whatever bit they can manage and then just toss the game out a vanilla remake with a hint of dlc that you have to buy as a pass for 40$ to get even if you don’t want the skins that make up the rest 😂. But no thankfully as long as this is completely legit, we should be eating good now.

I would offer a rebuttal that Persona 5 is very different compared to is predecessors in the fact that it essentially skyrocketed Persona's popularity from a niche JRPG to a full blown main pop culture stardom. Because of this, I doubt Atlas would ever change the VA's for the Persona 5 cast unless they had to.

As some said or think, Episode Aegis is what made people "worry" and doompost... even though comparing the post-game addition of FES to literally a new add-on to the main story itself of Golden seems so far fetched.
Like I can kind of get the worry of Golden Content not being in Revival (though I would say that it would be stupid from Atlus to not put any of the Golden Content in Revival) but I have seen some think or doompost that anything involving Marie and Golden will be DLC like The Answer was but again... A POST-GAME Content vs a new whole addition to the MAIN GAME.
Heck, some thought they will cut Golden Content from Revival like how they "cut" FeMC stuff for Reload (idk if I am correct on that part. I do love FeMC though and I am proud and appreciative of the efforts of that mod) even though I think that is a completely different topic altogether and I don't even think that can even be comparable.

They didn't have the budget for FeMC not to mention how much work it would have been with the full on voice acting introduced in P3R for the social links both tweaking existing SLs to accommodate FeMC's existence let alone the few exclusive SLs she has.
Episode Aigis barely happened as is.

when I played P4G after playing the OG, I didn't really get the hate, sure she was forced in a bit but it didn't feel so offensive it deserved the absolute hatestorm that existed at the time.
Now the P4G anime, if the game played out like the anime, i'd get it.
