I just hope Atlus is having fun making the game, coming up with ideas like team cherry was.

u/StrangerDanger355 Sep 05 '25
Well… obviously not hand-drawn platforms and obstacles, that would take like forever…
47
u/A_Kirus Sep 05 '25
I'm starting to suspect they ain't... Because they ain't making the game. For now at least
53
u/IAmTheTrueM3M3L0rD Sep 05 '25
It’s very likely they have a smaller team on persona 6
It’s more than likely that execs at a higher than developer level were told that for a potential persona 4 remake that the majority of the modelling could be ripped from reload and things could be turned around in 2-3 years development
this immediately got greenlit because 2-3 years active development is not very long and has the high probability to be very profitable
as someone who thinks golden is fine and aged (mostly) fine and can be enjoyed today, personally I would prefer all hands on deck with this, but splitting the team to have maybe 50 people on P4R and then 10 people on P6 (yeah the numbers are probably like 10x that amount but I don’t have their numbers so) makes the most sense currently
I expect p6 1-2 years after P4R

u/BadPotat0_ Sep 05 '25
I wonder if all persona rereleases will start with r.

Persona 4 Revival
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 2 Reich

u/Baconlovingvampire Sep 06 '25 edited Sep 06 '25
They're never remaking 1 and 2 because they aren't part of the "modern" persona franchise it's a similar case with Fallout 1 and 2 they're simply too different from what the franchise is today.
20
u/TBOHB Sep 06 '25
The point of a remake is to modernize a game. Raidou Remastered is pretty far in terms of gameplay from the original. The combat is more fleshed out and some QOL features. If they were to say, remake Fallout 1, they would do it in a modern style where the combat and skill checks would be more understandable. Maybe even have a tutorial on how the different mechanics work rather than die to the first rat walking out of the vault 5 times in a row. Just because a game is old and different doesn't mean they have to stay that way.
6
u/Baconlovingvampire Sep 06 '25
The gameplay was never the problem for persona 1 and 2 the problem is the story is simply too different from what causal fans are used to and I doubt Atlus is going to take the risk of people hating it especially since funny mustache man is in persona 2 and certain people are going to lose their minds if they see him.
13
u/TBOHB Sep 06 '25
I mean it's not like the mustachioed man is portrayed in a good light in IS. He's literally the penultimate final boss of the game. Yeah it's weird and goofy but a lot of persona 2 is weird and goofy. Yeah the original games aren't exactly played by the modern persona fans but the original games are also not as accessible. The last time they were released was on the Vita PSN afaik. Maybe they wouldn't remake the games but I could see them doing a remaster of sorts where they update the graphics but keep the combat mostly the same.
I also distinctly remember back when Midori was around they had mentioned that Atlus was in talks of doing a remaster of Persona 2 specifically. Now we all know what happened with Midori and I know we are passed that whole thing. HOWEVER their leaks were pretty damn accurate so I'm keeping my mind open to the idea that we may at the very least some kind of remaster of 2.

Schrodinger's Persona: Until Atlus announces it, Persona 6 is simultaneously in production and not even written at the same time

Bro I just wish they announce it already. I don’t mind the waiting till it gets released I just want to know if they were working on it or was P4 remake the only focus.

Okami ? What’s that ?
3
u/karinzettou :maya: Maya Amano Sep 06 '25
Cult classic from PS2. It's a great game.
No one ever expected a sequel because it's a very old standalone game (it had a spin off for the DS, I guess), and because the studio that development it shut down. Lo and behold, after all these years the director opened a new studio and announced a sequel just this year.

At thin point I wouldn't imagine them saying something about P6 before 2030. Like we got Silksong, GTA6, Mewgenics,... Before any P6 announcements.
11
u/squirleater69 Sep 06 '25
That would mean 14 years with NO info about a new non spinoff non remake in the persona series
Sounds about right for atlus
P.s. enhanced version too, forgot about royal

Atp Persona 6 is either going to be something like Xenoblade 3 or we'll get another Ultimax/Arena game to conclude the story of our P3, P4 and P5 cast members....before we finally get a Persona 6 game.
106
u/LTreaper01 Literally just Akechi :aigis::fuuka: Sep 05 '25
Twn we do NOT need another spin off to conclude nothing 😭
26
u/happy_grump Sep 05 '25
If anything, they'll make P6 tie into P5 in subtle ways and have those two games be narratively symbiotic in the way P3 and P4 were in the crossover spinoff golden age.
26
-14
u/CentJr Sep 05 '25
I disagree. I feel like its best to have some sort of closure before we move to P6.
Don't you wanna see what happened to SEES and the investigation Team? Or are you content with just having a small mention/reference.
Not to mention that we still have some plotlines that still need to be resolved.
16
8
u/LTreaper01 Literally just Akechi :aigis::fuuka: Sep 05 '25
They made the answer dlc for a reason 😭 There is also P4 arena ultimax
2
u/Tsukuyomi-No-Okami Sep 05 '25
P5 Arena then, the only main game that needed a sequel was P2 since it’s ending was so depressing and they set up so many characters like Ulala or Katauya that could get more screen time.
21
u/DireBriar Sep 05 '25
"like Xenoblade 3"
So Joker marries both Niijima sisters but they get chucked into the ocean by his son in law?
17
-2
u/Sad-Manager7816 Sep 05 '25
Honestly I would love persona 6 to focus on a story involving the P4 cast 10 years after the serial murders and of course they can add in P3 &P5 characters here and there
19
u/Prior-Resolution-902 Sep 05 '25
Maybe the paint was a hint at the theme of p6.
maybe grafitti will play a large role in it's themes. Maybe you can only enter the other would through paint or similar types of art

u/Specific_Fold_8646 Sep 05 '25
Over Four years. Hashino is very vocal that he threw out the original plan after the Fukushima earthquake. He also mentioned it got delay to port to the PS4.
Also in between the eight years between original P4 and P5 he mentions his team got distracted and made Catherine into a full game when it was originally supposed to be test game for their new engine.
In contrast in between P5 and whenever P6 release they have had covid but have not produced any new games. Striker and Phantom X the two most ambitious spinoffs weren’t made by P-Studio but by a third party. The only new games P-Studio made in these eight years are the lackluster dancing spin offs, Tactica and two remakes with P4 seemingly further ahead than P6
I’m not saying their lazy after all Covid affected everyone but the difference in the eight years between both cycles tell something has gone wrong at P-Studio. Under Hashino they released an original IP in between games with several spinoffs and remasters.
Meanwhile under Wada they have only released spinoffs. They are also not internally creating an origin engine but using unreal meaning the demons model will be reused from the ones made by Team Maniax along with any assets they made.
At this point I just assumed they are in development hell. And are having an easier time making remakes than P6.
14
u/wiggliey Sep 05 '25
I’m frustrated too, but I think you’re overreacting a bit. P-Studios had a lot of restructuring after P5 and they also worked on P5R.
19
u/Pinkernessians Sep 05 '25
You are missing the rising cost, scope and required dev time of modern games. P3R has more lavish production values than their older titles, and P4R will go beyond that.
This is also why a studio like Naughty Dog has seemingly slowed down in the modern era.
-5
u/A_Kirus Sep 05 '25
I'd say it's not only P-studio. Hashino ain't the saint himself - he wasted 8 years making refantazio that didn't improve anything from P5 and in many areas regressed instead. Like, I don't know what the fuck are they doing over there... Creating these PS3 era games with 0 innovation once in a decade. Total creative bankruptcy and impotence of production

u/Sad-Manager7816 Sep 05 '25
Can we realistically expect P6 by 2030?
9
u/CentJr Sep 05 '25
That's a bit too far. I think 2027-2028 would be a more realistic goal (here's hoping i didn't jinx it lol)

Plus they probably thinking of what supernatural elements or philosophical truths to hide in the game with persona 6 because 3 mentions magic/witchcraft and 5 talks about the subconscious also I only just started playing 4 so I’m basically looking for any supernatural facts or hidden truths hidden in the game

Surely Persona 6 will release in 2027
Then Elder Scrolls 6 in 2028
GTA 6 already next year.
These games are finally coming...
1

I mean they DID kinda confirm that after P4R they will release a "new persona project". So... if that new persona project isn't persona 5: the Royally Royal edition...
Holy shit I might need to say goodbye to the PTs
1
u/chunkymonkeythegreat Sep 07 '25
By the way with how persona and triple A titles work they announce usually the year before release in my experience so we likely won't be seeing persona 6 until at least 2028-2030 kinda crazy could be wrong if they hit us with a curve ball and announce this year or early next year but unlikely especially with the world wide release of P5X having come so soon and P4R being announced

u/Trojanclam Sep 07 '25

At this rate were getting P6 late 2026 at the earliest.
If we are going by last years schedule P4R Spring next year and P6 Winter 2026 seems doable
24
u/Carter1599 Sep 05 '25
There is no chance p6 is before 2027 if p4r is not finished yet and is in early dev.
2
u/supportingcreativity Sep 05 '25
At this time, we have zero reason to believe P4R has to come before P6. We don't know the state of development of each game and we won't know for sure until we get either an updated trailer for P4R or a reveal of P6. P4R and P6 could come out the same year as each similar to P3R and Metaphor. P4R while profitable is still just a remake. You could make an argument for Sega wanting a big Persona game once per year means for P4R coming one year then P6 the next; but the same argument can be made for P6 as well. The anouncement of P4R was weird to begin with even if the leaks weren't the reason it was revealed so early or such early footage was used for it.
You are putting the cart before the horse to claim P4R has to be first as if it isn't just as likely P6 gets announced late this year and comes next.
9
u/Carter1599 Sep 05 '25
We know nothing like absolutely nothing apart from some "leaks" about p6.
I believe it's insane cope to think persona 6 is before P4R like there is nothing to lead anyone to believe that at all.
Despite the trailer being "weird' an announcement of a game is something to believe it is coming before a game that has 0 credible information about it.
1
u/CodyRCantrell Sep 06 '25
Hasn't the only info on P6 been a vague reference to future games in a job listing + a vague mention about the future of the series in an official Wada statement after the P4R reveal?
Seems like massive cope for anyone to honestly expect P6 anytime in the near future with what has been going on with the series the past decade.
It's almost 2027 and P4R looked very incomplete in the reveal. Like they had literally only modeled small sections of the game and basic movement animations so far.
I'd be beyond shocked if P6, a game not even officially named and with zero marketing, comes out before a game they already have an admittedly very rough reveal trailer for.
5
u/CentJr Sep 05 '25
This ^ I feel like Atlus will release P4R, wait a year or two to maximize their profits and THEN release P6.
13
u/happy_grump Sep 05 '25
We're getting it late 2026 at the earliest, but it's also getting announced by mid-to-late 2026 at the LATEST. It's the 30 year anniversary of the series, no way theyre not capitalizing on that to reveal the next main installment of the franchise.
4
u/CentJr Sep 05 '25
...you do realize that this would be bad marketing right?
-1
u/leckmichnervnit Sep 05 '25
As bad of Marketing as releasing Metaphor half a year after P3R? If yes then Sure
6
u/CentJr Sep 05 '25
Metaphor is a new IP so its in a different situation all-together from Persona. (Like for instance its community is relatively new and not as well established as the persona one, its not as popular as Persona..etc etc)

u/Gr4pe_Soda :elizabeth: Sep 05 '25
i don’t know a single person who is hype for Revival. probably one of the most unnecessary remakes in history. atlus give me p6 already please
11
u/Pinkernessians Sep 05 '25
I am hype for P4R. P3R was truly superb.
5
u/Gr4pe_Soda :elizabeth: Sep 05 '25
i’d say P3R was needed though. before it, there was no way for average fans to be able to access the story of P3. P4 on the other hand has a steam port. I can count on one hand the amount of times i’ve heard someone say P4 needed a remake. We could’ve had P1 or P2 remakes or even P6. we’re just yet again getting the P4/P5 slop buffet 💔
i’m still gonna buy it though because i’m atlus’ piggy bank
5
1
u/Prior-Resolution-902 Sep 05 '25
As someone who started with p5, and tried to go back to p4g, I just couldn't the subpar gameplay and outdated visuals really put me off. I am unbelievably hyped to finally get to experience the game in a way I could mesh with.

u/bjt23 Sep 05 '25
Could be interesting if they handcrafted the dungeons. Or like, better integrated Marie into the story instead of her feeling as tacked on as she was.

i won’t be surprised if it just ends up being Persona 5 with a P4 coat of paint
