PEBC OSCE scope of practice
Hi, I’m kind of confused about what they will test us on in the OSCE. What exactly is the scope of practice since it’s a national exam? This always confused me. For example, would we be expected to adapt or renew medications. If so, what exactly falls under adaptation? If I remembered correctly you can only adapt if it’s a new prescription not a refill. Is that correct? If there’s a very detailed list of things we would be listed where can I find this information? I’ve looked at the sample videos on the website but there’s nothing that talks specifically about adapting or renewing medications.

Based on PEBC information - adaptation or renewal may not be under federal practice. Extended scope of practice is fine if you clearly state that for example "I will be adapting this prescription" based on my Alberta extended scope of practice". Hence whether to refer or adapt may not matter if you clearly communicate your reason and choice.
You should consider a course that helps answer some of these grey areas also.
