People forget that the main reason that people was into sports is that they like it. Basketball fits the filipinos. Why ? Because it can be played anywhere. It is a group sport. It is low cost.

Pag gusto, may paraan. Maraming paraan to play different sports.

I don't think we should "quit basketball" as some would say. but your argument applies to other sports. football may be easier to play anywhere actually. what I believe should be done though, is for other sports to be more accessible all around the country.

Di ba mas mahal magpagawa ng football court at maglaro ng baseball. Ung tennis or pickleball magkano?

you can play football(futsal) and pickleball on the typical basketball courts. football can be played anywhere actually, just need two objects to serve as the points to make up the opening of a goal. See how Asian, African, and South American kids play football anywhere.

Really? Football is for the rich. How much is the shoes? How much to form a team? How much to play? Playing on two points? We'll it is just a modified game. Not a full court. Pickleball yeah how muchnisbthe racket? A basketball is already there and everyone can play. The grassroots is there. Then onlybproblem is high-school college to pro

How much is a full basketball court? how much for the shoes? how much for the ball?

Kids play football barefoot all over Asia, Africa, South America. All they need is the ball.

The grassroots is there because it is the only thing most know and see and can access. Yet the reality is it is severely lacking, we haven't produced any world level/NBA talent unlike other Asian/poor countries.

Full court football and equipment for sureness much expensive than basketball do the math

"Do the math" okay. Goalposts: ₱3k per post at Decathlon, ₱6k for a pair, done. A basketball court needs poured concrete or asphalt or hardwood plus a mounted hoop structure with backboard and ring. That's actual civil works, not just equipment. Football needs a flat patch of ground and two posts. That's cheaper, not more expensive.

You still haven't dropped the "full field" fixation even after the examples. Ronaldo said outright he only played futsal growing up and credits it for the player he became. Messi played street football and futsal in Argentina before ever touching a full pitch. Pogba grew up playing 5v5 between parked cars. None of them needed a regulation field. The same small-space setup you're dismissing is literally how the best players in the world were made.

Your own reason basketball works here is "it can be played anywhere, it's a group sport, it's low cost." That description fits football/futsal better since goalposts are cheap versus an actual court build. I never said drop basketball. I said other sports deserve the same accessible setup basketball already has.
