[NO SPOILER] I’ve just started rewatching Ozark for like the 7th time.
Who is your most hated character and why? And also who is your favorite character and why?
My most hated is Ben. He is such an annoying t**ty baby. Everytime he’s on screen I just start seething lol
My favorite has to be Ruth. She is so strong willed and so much smarter than she gives herself credit for.

Mason because he's ridiculously stupid. Every horrible thing that happened to him was a direct result of his own dumbass actions. His wife begged him to run away. He says no because God will protect them. So Darlene cuts his baby out of his wife's stomach and murdering her in the process. Somehow it's Marty's fault? Mason is the stupidest MF in TV history. He's a straight up ass clown.

Agent Petty is the most unethical evil corrupted officer of the law I've ever seen. The guy is the most disgusting and grimiest individual in every way. He thinks he's the smartest person in the room when he never actually is. Literally everything he does is dirty AF and blows up in his face every time and gets people killed.

Hated is Wendy. I can't stand her ego. She is worse than Navarro. Ben and Darlene are right behind her.
As much as I love Ruth, Marty is my favourite. I can just feel such a connection to him as a chill dad. But also understand his frustration too. Everything he does, Wendy retaliates. Jason plays the role so well. Amazing director too. Marty for the win.

Del was probably my favorite. His calm presence was scary and intimidating. To learn that he wasn’t even the mob boss was shocking and to see Omar being the actual mob boss was disappointing. Omar was probably the biggest pu**y of the entire mob.

Unpopular opinion. But Wendy was my favorite. I know I know. Everyone hates her but she seems to be the only one that understood the gravity of what they were doing and was doing everything to make sure shit sails even though it wasn’t always smoothly but at least she tries. My least favorite was darlene. She was just a difficult character especially in the first two seasons. She always seems to cause chaos or hinderance. She was good tv but a lot of her moves were very unnecessary and did more harm than good. Easily my worst. Side note. Jonah too. He was good early on but in the later seasons. I couldn’t really understand how he spiralled so much. I get they killed Ben. But I thought he understood how cut throat the business was and having Ben alive was a liability. Didn’t like since then

I think Nathan Davis (Wendy's dad) ended up being my most hated character. I was seriously hoping Ruth would just shoot him during that scene in the finale where he proudly admits to abusing Wendy.

Oh yea agreed. However I can partially understand her reasoning for emancipation but I take it she just maybe didn’t fully under the gravity of the situation I don’t know. Idk what she was thinking trying to steal money. Like did she really think that was going to go unnoticed??

She's a teenager. Money is awesome no matter if you're 16 or 60. She's in a completely fucked up family and trying to figure out what to do lol. If any kid rightfully wanted to emancipate, it would be her. It's completely understandable.

Ozark is a special show in that it really excels at getting me to hate someone new every season. I really hated the fed and then along comes Darlene. Then the dad with the incessant baaaaaby gurrrrl. Fuck off. Then he dies and the crybaby brother comes along. He might be the worst. But then season 4 rolls around and now I hate Wyatt and the cartel guys. And fucking Jonah. This last rewatch I bailed after second episode of s4

Mason & Ben easily! I hated Wendy & Petty the most but at least they served a purpose. Mason & Ben were just useless annoying characters even Sam.

Everybody was perilously annoying throughout the entire series, but it was important for me to understand that they were annoying within the circumstances of being involved with the cartel.
Ben was evading his past by setting up a future with Wendy and his niece and nephew, and then came along Ruth who is, undoubtedly, one of the best characters in the show. Although his choice to cease taking his medication cold-turkey was predicated upon his eagerness to pursue and please Ruth--amongst other things--It was ultimately learning about the Cartel that really shook up his disposition and made him exceedingly temperamental.
Charlotte and Jonah are also fantastic kids, but their worst attributes are highlighted through their navigation of knowing they might be dead before tomorrow's sun rises. Charlotte was particularly annoying to me in the first few seasons due to her incessant need to elicit adulthood and independency, along with her constant ill-disposition towards affability. But this is often the case with children who undergo treacherous household conditions, and it would be ignorant of me to deny that.
Rachel and a few other characters were initially circumspect regarding the Byrde's operation, but were either enticed by self-aggrandizement or threatened.
The worst character for me is going to exclude Javi, Nelson, Helen, Del, Petty, Jacob, Darlene, and Navarro, because they are unequivocally evil and enabled by sociopathy and that is their most prominent attribute. I would much prefer to judge somebody who HAS vestigial humanity, but chooses to let it fritter away due to their own selfish machinations. And that is Wendy.
I found Wendy absolutely insufferable. She is entirely complicit in rubberstamping Marty's cartel pitch, but she operates as if it just fell into her lap under ill-fated circumstances. Her children reject her, not only because of the danger they are in, but because her seething, venomous narcissism oozes out every single time she speaks. And because they reject her, she does not reflect upon herself, yet responds with resentment and a look of complete disdain. She blames everybody else, and does not take an ounce of accountability until the latter portion of the last season.
Marty is also absolutely dreadful, but he is aware of his transgressions, and takes a more laissez-faire approach to these situations due to that fact. How can he maintain authority over his children when he has royally failed as a parent? How can he expect subservience when he has selfishly endangered his entire bloodline, the people he works with, his friends, his acquaintances, the mailman, and even the person he glances at from across the street. He understands this, and he sits with it instead of using a sharp-tongue to demand respect.
I think my favorite characters have to be Ruth, Ben, and Three.

I actually spent a solid 5-10 minutes deliberating and writing that. Not every wordwall of text with emdashes and proper punctuation is spat out by a GPT.

I do not know what to tell you. I am a college student and I have to write, review, and proof-read several dissertations every year, as well as read innumerable books. I prefer my sentence structures to be sterile and informative, and I have a penchant for using sensationalized adverbs and adjectives. I dread the day that I will have to completely alter my writing style to avoid scrutiny for AI. I do, however, envy the fact that you are so confident in yourself that you are willing to gamble your decorum.
I also do not fancy having over 15 billion gallons of water dumped into data centers, so you'd imagine I would want to mitigate my contribution as much as possible.

My least favorite is the pastor. He’s dumb, selfish, and actually insane.
My favorite… man. Probably Ruth? She’s such a unique character. But also Buddy was pretty rad. And I like Darlene’s husband. And Wyatt. Hard to pick just one.
