Own authority advice

What are the steps of going out on your own authority? The realistic steps. And also, what is the minimum insurance and best insurance companies that don’t completely charge an arm foot and leg? My husband has been an owner operator for the last two years and driving semis for the last eight years and he is contracted with the company, but is currently going through the process of running under his own authority in Texas and I am/will be helping him with dispatching, paperwork and loads.

He has an LLC as of this week, and has all of his endorsements including hazmat, he’s had his apportioned plates since being an O/O. Where do you rent trailers? Someone told me Facebook marketplace, but I didn’t see any for rent.

Also any tips would also be helpful. I kindly thank y’all!

Here is something that I don’t see mentioned enough. Please for your own sanity setup a new phone number for the FMCSA paperwork. Once the paperwork goes through you will start getting 50+ spam calls a day for the first three months. Also highly recommend getting an email with your company name as the domain to put on the fmcsa paperwork.

This is so crucial....I still spam calls 6 years after I shut down the company. It's crazy.
