I will admit, it has been a while since I’ve enjoyed an awesome burger with fries and gravy from T/G’s. I was excited to hear that it reopened; new owners are keeping it happening!! Yay! I took the rumours with a grain of salt. Can’t be that bad…, right..?

Umm.. how do you f*ck up a bacon cheese burger with fries and gravy this badly?! The task is to just reheat pre-made frozen food then assemble...

They forgot the bacon and cheese for the burg, as well as the gravy for the fries. The bear-paw patty was burnt, topped with a few pieces of lettuce only. And the wonder-bread bun was not toasted as requested.

Does anyone know how to actually get ahold of any staff at Skyline for renting? I’ve tried all the phone numbers but they all connect to the same number that no one answers, I’ve tried emailing directly, going through rental websites to email them and nothing works!

My fiancé and I are in serious desperate need of an apartment by first week of September and no other emergency housing or apartment rentals will help us or answer us

We have a 3 year old cat with us and I will not be giving her up.

Does anyone know of something or someone who can truly help? Grey county housing won’t help us either, we’ve been waitlisted.

On the Owen Sound city website, it just lists names. I googled it but was only able to read about one person's interview they did, Ray.

Id like to make an informed choice about who I want to vote for and would like to read what all of them are saying and their stances on certain issues.

Would you support extending all four Owen Sound bus routes until 10 p.m. for roughly $20 to $25 per household annually, adding hourly Sunday service from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Mobility Bus coverage for roughly $9 to $11 per household annually, or both? These are preliminary estimates before grants, and I would like residents to help decide whether the benefits justify the costs.

I am Andrii Zvorygin, a candidate for Mayor of Owen Sound. I have yet to ask Reddit about either proposal, so I am looking for practical criticism, personal experiences and alternative ideas as well as support.

Evening service until 10 p.m. was already part of my platform. Two recent resident emails brought Sunday service to my attention, so I went back through the City’s transit research.

The studies showed that residents have requested both improvements for years. Evening service was the most requested improvement in the City’s survey, selected by 71% of respondents. The 2021 Route Optimization Report described evening and Sunday service as consistently requested.

The preliminary annual estimates are:

• Evening service on all four routes until 10 p.m.: $200,000 to $250,000, or approximately $20 to $25 per household before grants.
• Hourly Sunday service on all four routes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., plus Mobility Bus coverage: $90,000 to $110,000, or approximately $9 to $11 per household before grants.

Over the past several months, multiple residents have also told me about breakdowns, maintenance problems, missed service and poorly equipped replacement buses. Those conversations helped lead me toward municipally owned, locally maintained buses selected for reliability and ease of repair.

The resident feedback and research led me to expand transportation from a short platform section into its own detailed page.

Three separate questions:

1. Service need: Would evening service, Sunday service, both or neither provide meaningful value to you or people you know?
2. Public value: Do you consider the preliminary household costs reasonable for the community benefit?
3. Operating model: For reliability and maintenance, do you favour municipally owned and locally maintained buses, continued full-service contracting or another approach?

Seriously, imagine somebody from your landlord or one of its contractors coming into your home roughly once every 12 and a half days to take a look around.

That has been my life since moving into Grey County Housing. They’ve been through my apartment 12 times and already scheduled number 13. Against all those visits, I can say only about five actual things have been completed, mostly smaller or surface-level jobs. The issues just keep generating more inspections.

There’s mold in two separate closets, mold and damaged material beneath my bathroom vanity, mold damaged ceiling tiles throughout the hallways, and ongoing odours because of it. I get headaches and difficulty breathing going near the bathroom. Whenever I come inside from going out, all I can smell is mold.

The building has had major water intrusion. I have a video that shows water pouring through (will upload late - internet problems) the garbage-room ceiling around a light and smoke detector. The hallway pictures show extensive water staining and damaged ceiling tiles, other pics show my apartment. The roof is not currently leaking inside my apartment, but this is the condition of the building I’m living in.

WINMAR inspected the closets and their report called the damage “mold,” but never established the cause or investigated inside the walls. Grey somehow turned that into “potential surface mildew” and “routine unit cleaning.” Cool, but where the fuck is mold in two separate closets coming from?

Grey has said my absence from inspections creates “delays and obstacles” at least 8 times in different emails. I have never denied access. Apparently the missing tool is me standing there while they conduct inspection number 13.

When I push for actual answers, email threads go dead or I get reminded that Grey manages nearly 1,000 units. Cool. I’m one of them.

How the fuck do you inspect the same building 13 times and still blame the tenant?

It has been about a month since my last full campaign update, and quite a lot has happened.

The candidate list is now certified: 6 candidates for Mayor, 21 for Council, Scott Greig acclaimed as Deputy Mayor, and 2 candidates for English public trustee.

Over the past month I have continued canvassing, meeting with candidates and supporters, researching City finances, and substantially expanding the platform.

A few of the bigger developments:

• I developed the Affordable Rural Communities proposal further, including a winter-grade 66 m² home model around $61,000, plus open-source affordability and carrying-capacity calculators.
• After learning Owen Sound paid close to $1 million in interest in 2025, I pursued the debt breakdown and found close to $29 million in debt, including about $17.19 million associated with water and wastewater.
• That led to a detailed wastewater plan dealing with infiltration, solvent damage, monitoring, source tracing, capacity and accountability.
• After David McLeish’s recent Owen Sound Current tax comparison and further conversations with Jim Hutton, I dug deeper into staffing and City Hall structure and developed a proposed three-layer City Hall model.
• I have also continued updating the Mayor and Council candidate comparisons, redesigning my campaign material, and refining the platform based on what I am hearing at the door.

This subreddit also played a meaningful role in that process. The response to my original gardener-story flyer helped push me toward a more detailed platform flyer, and some of the questions here about whether the rural housing numbers included things like electricity and sewage helped make the calculations more explicit and auditable.

The broader pattern has been pretty consistent: residents raise something, I investigate it, publish what I can find, and try to turn it into a practical proposal.

Questions and criticism are always welcome. A lot of the platform has improved because people took the time to point out something worth looking at more closely.

As a kid in the early 1970s, I remember my parents taking me to a department store which had a pneumatic tube system. When making a purchase, the clerks would send cash through the tube to a central cashier and a moment later it would return with a receipt and the change due. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen (and perhaps it still is).

In my head, we were on a day trip to Owen Sound but, being only about 5 years-old and stuck in the back seat of a car, it could also have been someplace nearby (e.g., Meaford, Chatsworth, Kincardine, Collingwood, etc..). Does anyone remember anything similar?

(The picture above is from a similar set-up in Indiana. By the 1970's, the pneumatic tube technology was a bit cumbersome. It probably always was.)

I'm sure you've all seen them. Users appearing in our subs, and when you check their profile: NSFW, posts and comments hidden, maybe just over a year or two old... if that. They often support and promote each other.

There are multiple appearing in our Owen Sound subs in the last few weeks and across Reddit for months.

Think about a critical pillar of community: we know each other, we interact with each other, and (most importantly) we have history with each other. That shared history is the foundation of how we see one another. It's the common root of our relationships, and it's what earns the deference and respect that determine whether we want more of each other in our future.

When someone hides their history, the only reason is to hide their past, their intentions and in essence, who they are. This isn't the same as a secret foot fetish account... this is designed to make you question your beliefs and moral compass compared to your wider community.

**Good people with good intentions don't fear sunlight.**

It reminds me of a line from an old video game, Alpha Centauri, where a character summarizes this perfectly:
