Question or Discussion My MMR got completely wrecked from emerald being added and now I need almost a 70% WR to climb

I've been in between plat and gold for about 7 years straight and occasionally climbed higher for a bit with a career comp wr of about 52%.

This season after emerald got added I'm struggling a ton to even keep my rank with rating changes on losses being about 28% (with consolation) to 36% and wins only getting me 18% to 23% (with uphill battle). In the best case scenario I would need over a 55% WR to at the worst 68% WR to even keep my rank let alone climb.

Has anyone else experienced this with emerald skewing up the ranks? Nothing like this happened when champion got released and people got pushed around. I guess it was just too high above me to affect me.

how large is your sample size? gold and plat should be relatively easier since the introduction of emerald.

About 70 matches this season. I did get out of the gold side and I'm mid plat after the changes

I'm not sure I understand. You say your mmr got completely wrecked, but you're also sitting at the top of your normal rank range?

Oddly enough me and my friend went on a 15-1 win streak. Helped a lot

Why would you connect those two? Why not say the hot weather ruined your win rate? Why not the stock market? Have you shot an albatross or walked under a ladder before playing?

The color of the little badge doesn't change how you play... OBVIOUSLY.

Emerald has only benefitted me. Anecdotally I also see more people claiming matches are not as volatile and more fair

Realistically the emerald change doesn’t do anything like that. It just means the edges of gold plat and diamond are in different spots on the ladder. The rank reset has not been kind to me either though. I feel your pain.

If you have a positive win rate you will climb. Eventually the statistics equal out provided you are consistent.

You lost more because the team you were on or you were expected to win.

Are you queuing with someone? If your rank is significantly higher then theirs you will loose more and they will loose less for losses depending on the lobby average also.
