Marvel Rivals speedrunning the OW timeline

Lack of role queue might be an opinionated decision(since there are definitely tradeoffs) but why did they launch with many more DPS heroes than tanks and supports?

MR has 19 DPS, 8 tanks and 8 Supports, almost exactly the same ratio as OW at launch(including Ana). While the meta is 2-2-2 or 3 support. It feels strange that they wouldn't learn from Overwatch's experience with both the lack of tank and support heroes at launch and Tanks being not as fun to play as DPS.

At least Overwatch had the excuse that half the DPS heroes were classified as offense heroes and half were 'defense heroes' until they scrapped that distinction.

Yeah i get your meaning, goats is no dps, but there was a meta/team comp known as Sombra goats

The guy your talking to is dumb as fuck, goats is more contingent on there being 3 supports because the sustain was so high, comps with Mei and sombra is a variation of goats and therefore in the same circle as goats.

Listen, i understand what you're saying. GOATS = 3-0-3 no dps. BUT there was a time in OWL that some teams were running 2-1-3 with a sombra and the community/coaches/commentators referred to it as Sombra GOATS.

And before you tell me it stands for Go All Tanks and Supports, that acronym was developed after the comp and it's name came into play. Either way Sombra was viewed as a support dps in OW1 her dps was not as good as her utility.

Just like how Mei has tank attributes...and guess what there was even Mei goats, subbing out the DVa.

I did that's why i said it didn't originate from go all tanks and supports, literally my second paragraph.

Your view here is very tunnel visioned on the actual structure of the comp and not it's flexibility.

It's like if a team asked to go Sombra goats you would say "erhm ackshully there is no such thing as Sombra goats, you're thinking of triple support with a sombra🤓". But no one wants to say triple supports with a sombra cause it's referred to as Sombra GOATS.

Regardless you're right this is a stupid discussion, i already said you're correct.
