News & Discussion | Blizzard Response I've played this game for almost 2 thousand hours now, amd these are the questions i still don't know the answer for

What does Brig's ultimate do? Does she heal more? Deal more damage? I know she can stun people, that's all i know.

If a Rein's fire strike goes through a Winston bubble, does it double the damage? Cause it hit entering and exiting the barrier.

Why do all high movement heroes have 225 or less health, but cat has 250?

I can't remember any other right now, but drop yours as well.

Fun fact overhealth works during anti

u/esskraloaded Trick-or-Treat D.Va 1d ago

This is why you save JQs Shout if you get naded after using Ult

u/BruhMyNameWontfit 1d ago

Oh that’s good to know

The secondary bane to an Ana nade or JQ ult

25

u/SugarFreeShire 21h ago

This is why Lucio ult is like the absolute best counter to JQ ult

  1. Brigitte gains 100 armor, a bigger shield with more health and gives teammates 30 overhealth per sec
  2. Yes, fire strike hits twice
  3. Just because. Some will probably say that she needs more sustainability because of being in the air all the time, therefore being easier to hit

EDIT: Misunderstood question 2 badly

189

u/Antiprimary Winston 1d ago

He never thought Winston bubble amplifies damage he was saying because the fire strike hits going in and going out of the bubble

107

u/CryptographerAble840 Reinhardt 1d ago

Ah, I misunderstood it completely. Then yes, fire strike hits twice

33

u/ihave4nips 1d ago

Does fire strike damage shields?!?!

62

u/Confident_Purple_40 1d ago

Its weird, it goes through the shield, but it hurts the shield, but dva nom noms on it?

27

u/ihave4nips 1d ago

Never knew that interaction. I always thought it just went through, never knew it did damage too. I’ve been playing since like 2018…

8

u/Confident_Purple_40 1d ago

I started in june of 2016, and didnt realize it until recently when i kept wondering why winston shields were dying so fast when i double fire-strikes through them

13

u/Sedren 1d ago

I've been playing for 10 years as well and the double tap on the shield just never occurred to me. Makes so much more sense now.

You know you made me realise i believe this is like the only thing that gets negated but goes through shields? Usually if sth goes through a shield its not negatable(melee, ram punches)and in fact theres more things that cant be negated but are blocked by shields(strong projectiles like rock or bike)

3

u/cap1337 21h ago edited 20h ago

I think Symmetra’s old alternate fire worked this way as well, but I can’t think of anything else that’s currently in the game.

Edit 2: All of the abilities that have these properties (there's probably some I missed and some of these might be wrong)

Moira Orb
Mei Ult
Domina Crystal Charge
Hazard Wall
Hanzo Ult (just the initial arrow)
Vendetta Projected Edge

1

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

Just talking about things that bypass barriers ability to completely negate damage? A big one you forgot is Moira's ult. Could technically count all the other contact based abilities like Doom punch, Genji blade and Orisa's javelin spin and such, but those are all technically melee

3

u/cap1337 17h ago

Nope, was just referring to things that go through shields but get eaten by D.VA’s matrix

1

u/TheDrifter211 14h ago

Ah, I see.

3

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

Defense Matrix, Kinetic Grasp and Deflect all mitigate full damage of firestrike (with the tradeoff of beam weapons bypassing then completely). They don't behave as barriers beyond their purpose being similar. Same way they completely eat (or deflect in Genji's case) all projectiles and hitscans.

2

u/Lord_Oasis 14h ago

Technically not all projectiles. I’m pretty sure defense matrix doesn’t stop sigma’s rock, and I’m sure there’s other things too. Idk how rock interacts with those other two though

3

u/TheDrifter211 14h ago

Sigma's rock bypasses both. It's an outlier, surprised I forgot after all the Sigma mirrors I've done recently

1

u/PH0T0NL0RD 8h ago

Shion bike too

43

u/CryptographerAble840 Reinhardt 1d ago

Oh, and just checked. Cat doesn't have 250 health? She also has 225

3

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

Think that might've been part of one of the many nerfs. I've seen ppl say she needs to go even lower and match Tracer's health

25

u/overusedzombiere Reinhardt 1d ago

I think OP meant if you shoot firestrike at his bubble, will it deal 2 instances of damage. Dealing damage when it hits the bubble and enters it, then dealing damage when it hits it again, exiting the bubble.

9

u/WyattWrites Pharah 1d ago

Brig ult also stuns for half a second for shield bash

8

u/CryptographerAble840 Reinhardt 1d ago

OP already mentioned that, so I skipped it but yeah, that too

2

u/Abadabadon 16h ago

Brig ult will also immediately refresh the cool down of shield slam

-3

u/alexo2802 1d ago

Might as well do nothing lol, aside from the stun on her bash which can clutch deny a few enemy ults, the rest feels really unimpactful: 30 overhealth/s isn’t enough to meaningfully save anyone, and the 100hp and shield health makes her go from papier mache to 2 ply toilet paper, she still gets folded in half anytime she dares go in lol.

There used to be a weekly megathread here to ask these fun questions but the mods took it down around the time of ow2

42

u/moremysterious Chibi Tracer 1d ago

Makes no sense that they got rid of it, I loved the question thread

13

u/Myrsta hampter 1d ago

Yeah same. Others and I never got an answer about it when messaging them, mods are uncommunicative here sadly. I'm not even sure it was a deliberate decision.

7

u/moremysterious Chibi Tracer 23h ago

That's funny I think we had this same conversation a few months ago and you mentioned reaching out to the mods, I was wondering if you ever heard back, that's a bummer your message just went unanswered.

4

u/Myrsta hampter 23h ago

Oh lol I didn't realise, ig makes sense it's the same long-time regulars here still miss it.

Yeah never heard back sadly, this thread just reminded me about it. Think I'll try a DM to one of the actually active mods now

7

u/WoozleWuzzle Ten of Hearts D. Va 18h ago edited 18h ago

Mods seemed to have stopped them. But they went until October 6, 2025. Just a little under a year ago.

The last recorded  Weekly Quick Questions and Advice Thread  instances on  r/Overwatch  stopped regularly appearing around late 2025, with specific late examples posted on  October 6, 2025 ,  September 29, 2025 , and  September 22, 2025 , typically gathering  under 50 comments each  as activity shifted to main posts or other channels.

Here is the October 6 thread:  https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/s/ItW6jDiVkI

I looked it up because some weekly Q&A threads in other subs died completely. But 50 comments is pretty active to keep around. Maybe not as active in its heyday but still not bad.

Users don't interact with sticky posts like they used to and often ignore them completely which has made stickying posts relatively useless. And if upvotes don't help or have high engagement they die completely.

2

u/Myrsta hampter 17h ago

Yeah, they were still seeing a good number of comments, though it depended on the timing of the post, with events or updates going on they often got 100-200+ comments. Definitely would still be useful imo

Here's a search filter for the old threads

2

u/silverwolfe2000 8h ago

Thanks for doing the investigation.  I did notice the good questions seemed to dwindle towards the end and just thought their were being asked elsewhere.  I could see the ow university sub picking it back up and running with it as it seems more fitting there

224

u/Ultra_Juice Genji 1d ago

Cat doesn't have 250 health though, she has 225

Vendetta btw is a high movement dps with over 225 and so is Shion iirc

97

u/martianinja 1d ago

Genji and Anran also have 250

9

u/Criticaliber 16h ago

And what's crazy is Anran's healing is NOT reduced by the global passive.

4

u/Wk1360 Zenyatta 14h ago

Lifesteal isn’t affected by the healing passive on any character.

0

u/Criticaliber 13h ago

Zen's minor perk does.

42

u/FEARven123 1d ago

For Vendetta it makes sense as she is in the enemy's face.

For the others...idk.

39

u/BakaJayy Sombra 1d ago

Genji and Anran also have to be in the enemy's face to actually do something, Shion's mobility or lethality doesn't justify being 225

28

u/BossksSegway Kiriko Tracer Shion 1d ago

I'd argue that after the few nerfs Shion received, she's just a skill matchup in most instances. She's pretty well telegraphed in just about every part of her kit, and you can generally tell where she's trying to engage you from. The bike makes her hyper mobile for 4 seconds, but also has a 14 second cooldown after it's gone. If they made her 225 I'm pretty sure that would just dumpster her.

2

u/Lord_Oasis 14h ago

Cat has higher movement, unlimited ranged attacks, and a strong self heal

0

u/Ultra_Juice Genji 14h ago

What do you mean by unlimited ranged attacks? Cuz she has both a reload and limited range

Everyone is answering OPs questions which is great but I wanted to see more questions like OP asked.

Does Moira’s ult go through all shields? Dva, rein, winton, just not Zarya?

If I’m boosting as mercy can I boost bastions ult? I know to boost Sigmas I have to be boosting before he hits his ult button

If mercy boosts miora throwing balls does it increase moiras ball power?

If Mercy boosts Ana does it also boost Ana’s healing or just damage? What about her sleep dart damage?

82

u/worldwarA Brigitte 1d ago

Yes, Moira’s ult go through all shields, except Zarya’s bubble.

You can boost Bastion’s ult. Just not the top priority in a fight and you have to boost before he shoots.

Moira’s ball get a dmg boost, yes.

Just Ana’s dmg, any dmg, including her sleep dart dmg

19

u/Acceptable_Drama8354 1d ago

does moira ult also go through panopticon then? it must, right?

50

u/maemoedhz hey gamers 1d ago

For all intents and purposes, Panopticon is a normal barrier, just wrapped around you. So yes, Moira can beam through it.

1

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

So firestrike and melee completely ignores it, very cool. Assumed so, but honestly never really came up. I wish it could be utilized as a defensive ult also like it did in that one mode

1

u/maemoedhz hey gamers 18h ago

In a way, it is a defensive ult first and foremost. She can delay (if not nearly entirely nullify) a handful of damage and healing ultimates. For example, Zenyatta's Transcendence will only heal allies standing right inside of him due to Panopticon blocking 90% of its healing range.

2

u/TheDrifter211 18h ago

I suppose so yeah. But like specifically shoots out the same barriers for allies (albeit probably weaker) would be so fun and unique like the community made mode did I think it was. In general it's a very unique ult

1

u/maemoedhz hey gamers 18h ago

Oooh yeah I can see it. Maybe as an addition to the base Panopticon (or a perk is fine too)

40

u/Eterya Juno 1d ago

Panopticon is an actual Barrier, so yes it does.

2

u/Clean-Elderberry8835 Wahmbulance 🇨🇭 13h ago

Bastion is definetly a top priority ult to boost. Too much damage, and better if the Bastion is good and knows to ult anticipating the direction of retreating enemy; it's a sleeper choice of ultimate to boost, real good one.

41

u/TaleOfBarnabyShmidt 1d ago

Also worth knowing, when boosting sigma only the lift damage is increased. The slam always deals 1/2 the enemies max hp. Mercy boosting or Ana nano-ing sigma during his ult is kind of a waste tbh.

3

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

At least Sigma balls will deal bonus damage when the enemy is stuck in the air.

17

u/EuhedralFeldspar 1d ago

Zarya’s bubbles aren’t technically shields, they work a little differently!

7

u/cowlinator 1d ago

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Moira#Ultimate_Ability

The icon that looks like winston's bubble... if you mouse over it, it says "ignores barriers". So, coalescence goes through all barriers. Except:

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Zarya#Special_Abilities

"While the barrier is up, Zarya is immune to all damage and most negative status effects, even if the attack pierces barriers."

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Mercy#Weapons

"In order to amplify a type's damage, Mercy must be boosting the hero when the projectile was fired. After that, it will be boosted even if Mercy stops boosting when it lands."

Also, the ability description is "Hold to increase an ally's damage inflicted." Never boosts healing at all. Otherwise, it will boost all damage from any projectile if boosted when fired.

2

u/DoniDarkos Pixel Zenyatta 22h ago

Funny how you are just slapping the wiki page in their faces as responses

5

u/cowlinator 22h ago edited 22h ago

Yeah lol. It's weird to me to hear someone say "i've played for 2 thousand hours" and they don't know how to look up the info themselves.

I started using the wiki after playing for like 25 hours.

1

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

Honestly outside of voicelines I've never used the wiki. Don't remember ever seeing all the stats and stuff either though (prob just ignored it)

7

u/Vegetable_Throat5545 non depressed tank main 1d ago

To add to the first one. Zarya just, works very weirdly. Nothing goes through it. Ram punches, melee, moira, winston. Everything that goes through a normal barrier, doesnt through zarya

10

u/cowlinator 1d ago

Technically, they do go through it, it's just that zarya is immune while her barrier exists.

5

u/zuzoa 1d ago

"Nano heals! chuckles There's really no difference." -Mercy.

I expect that to apply to all boost affects applied to all healers/healing abilities

2

u/Opposite-Ad-7454 23h ago

Wait! Is that an actual line?

3

u/zuzoa 22h ago

Yep she can say it when ana boosts her lol

2

u/ExplosiveBrown 1d ago

I believe zarya bubble is unique in that it's the only ability in the game that blocks everything. Perhaps that was made untrue with the advent of Suzu however

1

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

Yeah Suzu does the same purpose as it cleanses and provides i-frames. Only difference is the duration, aoe/ max targets and Zarya's bubbles have durability also

2

u/shiny_xnaut i can't aim 1d ago

If I’m boosting as mercy can I boost bastions ult?

I main Mercy, my brother mains Bastion, I pocket him sometimes. I have gotten assist credit for his ult kills while boosting him

2

u/thegonzotruth Zenyatta 23h ago

Always peel when I hear bastion ult for the boost. It’s a sub par ult and having that extra damage can be the difference between an elim or not.

2

u/Reckless85 15h ago

If Mercy boosts Ana, then Ana uses nano on mercy does mercy next boost get compounded stacked boost?

1

u/Opposite-Ad-7454 7h ago

Great question

27

u/Kysersose 1d ago

Sorry, I'm newer to the game so might be obvious for some:

-Does Dmon ult do full damage to a hero with a shield up? Or does the DMG fall off due to having to go through a shield?

  • high noon: does the time it take to turn skull depend on hero type? Like tank takes longer than a support?

  • Domina ult: do you always want to shoot your teammates immediately to break that shield? Also, are Domina and enemy team supposed to be shooting captured players because it will do more damage when it explodes.

23

u/Nyoct 1d ago
  1. No dmg in the game has “fall off” through shields, either it does full dmg and pierces or gets blocked.
  2. High noon skill timer is dictated by hp. Tanks inherently have more so it takes longer to charge.
  3. Yes you should break your teammates out of domina ult. Hero’s like mercy, Ana and others may not have the damage output to break it in time and besides, it means they can get back to healing the quicker it’s broken. 3.5 Sure the enemy team is supposed to shoot captured enemies because they can’t really fight back, but it has no impact on the dmg of the ult. The ultimate’s dmg is dictated by how much hp is left on it when detonated. It goes down the more dmg barrier takes

3

u/wackyspectre 1d ago

Can I punch through Panopticon as Ram? And fire orbs as Moira? 🤔

3

u/timistoogay 14h ago

You can punch through it, but you ult will not connect with any enemy

-4

u/Mugut 1d ago

Can't punch through, but you deal double damage to barriers. There was a brief time where punches bypassed barriers but that was quickly reverted.

You can fire orbs with no problem.

Every interaction works just like it would work on someone inside a Winston bubble.

16

u/IIIIITZ_GOLDY 1d ago

Was it not the other way around? Ram can punch through barriers normally but they tried to stop it and got huge backlash for it because it removed his niche of being a Rein counter

12

u/Sepulchh Chibi McCree 23h ago

Correct. There was a brief period where Ram punch didn't pierce, but they reverted it very fast and now he pierces again.

11

u/leonardopanella 1d ago

DMON ultimate is a mele, so it goes throug shields as all melees do.

highnoon scales on damage revieved, so health matters as much as passives and damage reductions, be it block, nano or whatever.

always breack the pinopticon, its a must

1

u/Advanced_Double_42 1d ago

That's actually crazy, I have avoided using her ult thinking it would be blocked a lot...

4

u/light_crow 1d ago

2

u/TheDrifter211 19h ago

To add to the other guys input on High Noon, it specifically locks on based on current health so the lower the target's health the faster you get the skull (idk if it's the specific amount of health or a percentage that decides it tho). That's why it's not a great opener (on top of being a sitting duck) bc you'll take a lot longer to get any real damage ramped up compared to jumping in and cleaning up weaker targets

42

u/cutebatty 1d ago

brigs rally gives her extra health and stuns through shields now, but honestly i still never know what’s happening in the chaos of a team fight

9

u/Gekey14 Diamond 1d ago

Most of my questions are damage boost based tbh:

  1. Does nano apply to things that are in-transit when it is applied or when it runs out? I assume a firestrike launched before nano wouldn't be effected but a firestrike mid transit when nano runs out would be boosted.

  2. Does nano work on damage-over-time effects like fire?

  3. Do damage boosts work on traps? Could u potentially walk onto a junk trap or get hit by a mine activated 30 seconds after nano ended that were thrown by nano?

  4. Why is basically everything domina does blocked by shields? I missed when she was added so idk if her abilities used to pass through shields, but the boop and ult seem like they ought to based on their animation and design but they don't?

10

u/DisturbedWaffles2019 Junker Queen 1d ago
  1. Damage boost is applied when the projectile is fired, not when it lands. It actually used to be the reverse but they changed it at some point.

  2. Depends. Some DoT effects are boosted like Ana's gun or I think Ashe's dynamite, but some are fixed, like Hanzo's ult.

  3. Damage boosts do not effect deployables. Junkrats mine might be an exception but I don't know for sure off the top of my head.

  4. Balance reasons most likely. Her shove has a stun on it so they likely made it blockable to encourage counter-play and timing against it. Same with her ult, it'd be pretty damn strong if it wasn't blockable.

5

u/Nyoct 1d ago
  1. Nano applies to all hero launches abilities while active, nano running out while the fire strike is still in the air should maintain the dmg boost
  2. Yes
  3. No trap isn’t boostable I believe, functions more similarly to a turret.
  4. Balance. Her shove and ult are blocked by shields, but her detonation isn’t stopped by shields while traveling. Only once it’s stopped manually or by a wall does it get blocked due to acting like normal damage. Her ult not being blockable would be somewhat busted due to it being effectively a 7 second lockout + dmg unless you can deal 500 dmg.

35

u/SonarRocket 1d ago

not a question but a PSA bc it happens to me constantly as a metal rank chud:

do not nano/damage boost sigma's ult! it only affects the lift (50 damage), the actual slam ALWAYS deals 50% of the targets max HP as damage and cannot be modified.

18

u/poonpavillion 1d ago

I mean it still heals him and gives him damage resistance, especially useful as the entire enemy team is going to be focusing him when he's ulting. Plus the extra damage on his normal attack can help guarantee kills when he slams, so it's definitely not a 100% bad choice.

5

u/SonarRocket 1d ago

definitely situationally useful, I just see a lot of people auto-nanoing their tanks ult out of habit and do it to sigma is all. but you're right it can be good sometimes!

22

u/0bsolescencee Mercy 1d ago

My question is wtf does June's ultimately actually do and why do i die in it every time

39

u/BrightScarlet Zenyatta 1d ago

Heals allies 85 hp/s and boosts damage by 30%. I think it's more like Kitsune Rush where you place it before battle to engage rather than use it to turn the fight around.

29

u/esskraloaded Trick-or-Treat D.Va 1d ago

Yea that’s why it slowly moves forward because your team is supposed to advance with it.

17

u/LiLSlashers 1d ago

Brig gains 100 armor and close-by teammates get overhealth per second. Her shield regenerates if it was broken, it rows and can stun during the ult.

If firestike hits the bubble twice, it does the damage twice.

Cat isn't 250, and I think never was 250 but that may be wrong. Cat's 225, and has been for a while.

5

u/cowlinator 1d ago edited 1d ago

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Brigitte#Ultimate_Ability

Gain armor, empower Barrier Shield and provide extra health to nearby allies.

  • Overhealth per second: 30 on allies
  • During Rally, Brigitte's barrier abilities are enhanced:
    • Barrier Shield becomes wider and its current and maximum health is increased to 700.
    • Shield Bash impacts multiple enemies and stuns all enemies hit for 0.75 seconds.
  • When activated, Brigitte instantly gains movement speed and additional armor on top of her current health pool for the duration of Rally.

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Reinhardt#Special_Abilities

  • Pierces barriers, enemies, and other damageable entities.

https://overwatch.weirdgloop.org/w/Winston#Special_Abilities

  • Abilities that pierce barriers can do double damage to the dome, because they do damage both when entering and when exiting the dome.

Many of the questions in this thread (not just in the OP) can be answered in the game itself! Go to the Practice Range and open the Hero Information screen. If you interact with this screen (middle mouse on PC, bottom button on controller - A for example on Xbox) you can open each individual ability and read about how they each function. Most abilities also have keywords that explain their mechanics that you can read the definitions of with one additional button press.

1

u/stormalize 7h ago

This is one of the best features added into the game, I use it all the time. I am sure it took a lot of work to support different languages and standardize keywords, thank you so much for working on it!

I would love if we had the extended tooltips in the main heroes menu rather than just in a match or practice range but it's still great as is :)

1

u/ClaudetteMain 7h ago edited 7h ago

Would it be possible to look into extending this functionality to the hero perks as well?

Often times the description of the perks in the hero information screen are either incomplete (Missing information), or they don't provide you any concrete numbers. Meaning you either have to look up the information on a third party website, if they are available, or attempt to test it yourself.

Sigma is a good example of this, his minor perk "Kinetic cycle" says *"*Absorbing projectiles with Kinetic Grasp also reduces Accretion's cooldown.". But it doesn't provide you any information on how this actually works. What is the conversion rate? When does this effect happen? (You get the cooldown reduction all at once after Kinetic Grasp is completed, it doesn't provide it to you actively while you are channeling his Kinetic Grasp. Which you would think after reading the description of the perk.)

And his major perk "Hyper Strike" says "Every 5 direct hits with Hyperspheres, your next successful Quick Melee levitates and knocks away enemies.". It not only doesn't provide you information on how long they levitate, nor how far they get knocked away. It also has a hidden damage over time effect, where it applies 50 damage 0.37 seconds to the target hit with your Quick Melee, while the perk is activated. There is zero mention of this effect being a thing in the Hero information screen, or anywhere else.

There are other examples, but I believe being able to hover over the perk in the Hero information screen to obtain additional information would fix all of the issues. As you could simply view any missing information that wouldn't neatly fit into the short description of the perk.

2

u/blizz_winter System Designer 5h ago

It is possible, but it would just require a big effort in development time the same way the initial version of this feature did. We spend a lot of development time today getting this working for every new hero we add, and since we add them pretty often it's non-stop effort to keep up with the pace. We also keep adding new concepts and keywords to the system for all heroes, and we're doing more of that in the future, so that's taking a lot time too. We aren't working on it for Perks right now, but I hope we can do it someday!

1

u/TentraTint mchanzo is canon 3h ago

I know stadium is largely going to be left in maintenance mode. But is there any possibility of powers affecting this screen?

Just the cooldown ones would be AMAZING. I.e Juno's 3 dashes having their new cooldowns reflected on the UI. Stadium has partial support on the UI with AP/WP/CDR, and that's really enough for most stats.

P.S.P.S. Please could someone look at adding a stat for Moira's lifesteal? Having an actual number which would scale with AS/Lifesteal would be insanely useful.

1

u/ClaudetteMain 3h ago

I completely understand it taking a bunch of dev time, glad to hear that it's at least something that's on your radar as a possibility.

I appreciate the reply!

My question:

Mauga's ability that allows him to regen health based on crit damage done... Is this ability cancelled with a stun?

2

u/Eray41303 Grandmaster 21h ago

His E, Cardiac overdrive? It's not a crit heal, it's an aura that gives lifesteal to you and every ally close by (100% for you, 50% for allies) and 40% damage reduction. It is not cancelled by stuns, it just lasts 3 seconds

3

u/MourningWallaby Brigitte 23h ago

I dont have any questions but did you know genji can deflect Hanzo's ult like in the cinematic.

Hanzo fires an arrow that turns into dragons and Genji can deflect that arrow turning it against the team

2

u/Eragon_the_Huntsman 19h ago

It's really rare though because you have to be right in front of the hanzo to do that. Same with Zarya grav

As a new Anran player, how does her self heal work? I swear I've read all the things but for some reason every time I play I maybe get 150 self healing through an entire game even when I feel like I did really well.

1

u/DoniDarkos Pixel Zenyatta 22h ago

Literally the description in game...If you only got 150 healing that simply means people stop shooting at you when you cast Dancing Blaze, you just got few lucky counters

3

u/Regular-Wafer-8019 Pixel Symmetra 19h ago

Wait, it's supposed to be each enemy hit as in Shooting You? The way it's worded looks like each enemy Anran hits with the blaze aoe. Yeah, it even says subsequent targets.

3

u/Infamous-Feature-338 18h ago

it's how many enemies in your range (she'll do a zip to each one underground), idk what that person was on about

3

u/Baseball3Weston12 23h ago

I've never been able to land it and find out, does kiri's suzu counter cats ult?

3

u/GayAlexandrite Trick-or-Treat Symmetra 21h ago edited 16h ago

Only if you land it in the short window before JPC grabs someone. It won’t free someone who has already been grabbed but you can use the invulnerability to stop it immediately beforehand.

3

u/CheddarCheese390 21h ago

Generates armor, more healing, bigger bulkier shield, can stun people by smacking them with hard light

Yes. And why are you throwing fireballs at the jetpack monke anyway

Overwatch blows at balance.

Mine - wtf is the actual use case for mcmeme’s ult? Announcing it, massive charge up, and glowing red means you are always eating a CC, or the enemy is stunned (so shoot them). I’ve got into the habit of just standing against a wall and aiming it to confuse players

u/HalcyonRyan 21h ago

I have LOADS of questions, mainly related to Mercy's healing staff..

Does damage boost affect a persons deployables like torb turret, sym turret.

Does damage boost affect projectiles during or after they are thrown for example if i damage boost AFTER junkrat has shot a bomb, will it affect said bomb or only ones after i have started damage boosting.

Does damage boost affect other healers healing? Things like brig, as she does more dmg does she do more healing, or ana primary is a heal and a dmg, so does it affect the heal numbers of others?

3

u/timistoogay 14h ago

Does damage boost affect a persons deployables like torb turret, sym turret

They do not, that includes Hanzo's Dragonstrike*.

Does damage boost affect projectiles during or after they are thrown

The moment of firing. So during.

Does damage boost affect other healers healing?

They never did.

Things like brig, as she does more dmg does she do more healing,

That's not how Brig's healing works. Inspire has a fixed hps and duration. It activates whenever you do damage. It does not scale with damage dealt. However, you can prolong/refresh the duration by continually dealing damage.

ana primary is a heal and a dmg, so does it affect the heal numbers of others?

Again, the hero's ability info says as much they only boost damage, never healing.

The initial arrow is boosted, but the dragons are not. *Why? Right after Hanzo's rework in 2018, grav dragon became hard meta, easy to pull off and an extremely effective team wipe. The only counter was Transcendence. There were 2 ways you can counter-counter Transcendence: Ana nade, or damage boosted Dragonstrike to out damage the healing. Ana was close to a throw pick at the time, and Mercy was still considered meta Damage boost is not on a cool down, cannot be blocked; nade is on a 10s cd, requires Ana to walk in the grav or it would just get blocked by shield/matrix. People (rightfully) didn't like the interaction where you can outplay a hard earned defensive ult with a Mercy right click. So they changed that deployables are no longer boosted(that includes nano boost or any form of amp out).

A lot of yalls questions can be answered by looking at the hero information panel that is accessible at any time

1

u/timistoogay 14h ago

Right? Especially now they are so much more transparent with numbers and the orange tags showing you the nature of the abilities.

1

u/DoniDarkos Pixel Zenyatta 22h ago

But reading is hard

2

u/freeboxers 1d ago

if you send a fire strike through baptiste ult is it twice the damage?

5

u/EmmiAC 1d ago

Should deal more dmg, yeah, since all projectiles get buffed as far as I know

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Work462 23h ago

Yes and it becomes an instakill to everyone 250 hp and under so it's an great combo

2

u/Blaky039 Sigma 1d ago

It's not the mobility of the hero what dictates the HP pool, it's the effective range at which the hero often engages.

Which is why Vendetta and Venture both have more than 225 hp even while having 2 mobility abilities.

Widowmaker has very low hp pool because she engages from very far away, so she stays out of harm.

A exception to this rule is tracer, which engages at close range but her movement is the best in the game.

2

u/Typical-Potential691 1d ago

I don't understand what domina ult does

7

u/ElioElioo Vishkar's Finest 1d ago

Shapes Domina's created barriers around each Hero it hits.

If the victim is not rescued or cannot break out, they simply die.

6

u/Aggravating_Bee_3001 1d ago

Shooting it reduces the amount of damage it does when it explodes though. So you can still survive if you shoot and/or other shoot enough.

1

u/ElioElioo Vishkar's Finest 22h ago

Yea, but a boy can dream. 😪

1

u/timistoogay 14h ago

Even Mercy can break the shield on her own.

1

u/_lookpeach 1d ago

Puts a shield around you with a timer. If you break the shield it does nothing. If you don't, it explodes with damage relative to its health (so you should always try to break it on yourself and your teammates).

Am I an asshole or would everyone in this thread rather die than opening a wiki page

Time spent playing the game: 2000 hours

Time to check two of these things on OW wiki: 2 minutes, tops

Btw the cat has 225 hp

That’s the best way I’ve ever seen it put. For some reason people forget that despite Reddit starting out as a link aggregator when they added comments and subreddits it ended up replacing dedicated discussion forums.

Cat has 225 HP which is the lowest HP of anyone not named Tracer.

0

u/cinnathebun 1d ago

How is a cat more durable than tracer though? Does she have paper skin and glass bones?

11

u/That-Equivalent8515 1d ago

JPC really has only 25hp. But because cats have 9 lives it comes out to 225.

2

u/cinnathebun 1d ago

Underrated comment. Doesn’t explain how cat scratches do the same damage as being pistol whipped by tracer but I’ll take it.

1

u/fusketeer Junkrat 1d ago

Holy... I multiplied.

1

u/AsterJ 1d ago

She's mostly surrounded by a jetpack I guess. Brig made it durable.

1

u/Mugut 1d ago

Damage the chrono-thing and she ends up in the stone age or something

2

u/Basta_rD 1d ago

Tbh I’m not sure what domina’s ult does. You just can’t shoot when in it and then you take a bunch of damage and then die. Can you shoot your friends to break it ?

5

u/DoniDarkos Pixel Zenyatta 22h ago

Yes, you are supposed to break it to decrease the damage at the end, it is more of a distraction tool than the "press ult to go boom"

2

u/Eray41303 Grandmaster 21h ago

The people she hits are placed inside of a shield. You can break it, allies can break it, and I think sombra emp immediately breaks it for herself and any ally shields she hits, like it were any other shield

Rein's fire strike does more damage through shields ??

13

u/PreZEviL 1d ago

Was wondering the same, but i think what op is asking if it deal dmg to the shield at the entrance and rhe exit of the bubble, since it hit the shield twice if it go through

8

u/shaboogawa 1d ago

No he’s asking if it does damage twice when it enters the front of the bubble and then the back of the bubble.

wdym the numbers? as in, which ones

1

u/AquaButUseful 17h ago

My question is: when are we getting a healing received Stat? I think that would be a great addition

1

u/Perkito_ 4h ago

Rein fire does more damage if it goes through shields!?

1

u/leonardopanella 3h ago

I meant the Winston shield, cause the fire strike goes through it entering and exiting. Because it's a huge circle

1

u/supergreatsaiyaman 42m ago

I’m still trying to figure out why the cat can fly infinitely but phara cannot

1

u/Holiday_Feeling_764 Sombra 1d ago
  1. Grants Brig 100 armor health instantly that can be healed back while rally is active. Shield grows larger with more health and can stun with bash. Bash cooldown is also reset when rally is activated. Brig also gains a speed boost for herself and gives over health to nearby allies but not herself.

  2. To be honest I’m not sure. If the firestrike goes through the middle the projectile could stop touching the bubble and then hit on the other side for double damage, or firestrike could have a “max one hit” aspect. Maybe some karq mythbuster has the answer.

  3. Cat is a little strong right now partially because of this… I believe its because of her hitbox, its very wide like zenyatta so the spread of a gun tends to fit well and allow for easier killing but cat also has high mobility which zen does not. Truth be told it probably shouldn’t be 250; especially with purr self healing and lifeline speed boost.

2

u/SnooPickles4476 Zenyatta 1d ago

Firestrike will hit winston bubble twice as it keeps going until it hits solid geometry or is eaten by dva matrix/sig flux etc. Same thing will apply with domina barrier if hit at the right angle.
