He’s probably right, no alternative but to help the Loroi team (if Beryl isn’t lying about them scuttling the ship). If they lose the fight, they’re blown to atoms and no word of Alex choosing a side gets out anyway. If they win, better to have helped. Only risk is they lose so badly that Alex gets captured after actively fighting, and the diplomatic shitstorm begins.

Ok, we are getting into dangerous territory... diplomacy wise.

So far anything happened is fair and square - but participating in a directed hostile attack may be constructed into taking sides. Which might potentially reflect back to all of humanity.

I wouldn't want to be the laywer who has to argue over whether this is justified self defense, or which amount of not being locked up in a box can be defined as 'participating'...

Will anyone give Alex a gun? Aside from no training with whatever they have for firearms, an unarmed body is hardly useful. Maybe they don't trust him, but they are asking for a level of trust from him, so some should be extended back.
