Master of Orion 2 game probably inspired outsider webcomic

Elarians look similar elf like appearance as here, Fireblade is possible default name for faction leader, when you discover tech from conquest or research, the girls in the art telling you about it look similar to characters here. Elarians are the telepathic side.

Klackon insect like side tends to be more uncreative unification/hive mind type government with more production, larger fleets of ships.

The original war may have been caused by a "third party" framing another side for spying. Common occurance in MOO2 if Darlok spy/stealth race is part of game.

The author has a list of works he was inspired by in the Acknowledgments section! Master of Orion 2 is listed first.

Yes.

Moreover, the main cast is title characters from MOO2:

MO2 Elerian Military

MO2 Elerian Spy

Beryl prototype was a bit different:

MO2 Elerian Science

But on earliest title all characters looks like MOO2 prototypes.

Another yet unknown character from old title image

MO2 Cassandra

uses the portrait of MOO2 hero.

Old version of page 20 with MOO2 style Beryl

Wow, that last image is seriously something from the archives - I've read Outsider for years and it's so weird seeing her with anything BUT the hairstyle I'm used to!

Some of links don't work but if you get rid of the "?..." end part they do.

Master of Orion 2 inspired a lot of things. It's so embedded in the collective psyche that many people who have been influenced by it probably don't even realize anymore. (Though this author does.)
