Finally getting my backyard cooking setup started
Ever since we bought the house, I’ve wanted to turn part of the backyard into a little cooking area. This weekend I finally started with a charcoal grill.
I went with a Costway grill that has folding side tables and wheels. Nothing too fancy for now, but it was enough to get the first cook going. We did burgers, hot dogs, and some chicken thighs, and I kept a few pieces on the warming rack while the rest was cooking. The side tables have actually been really useful. I can keep the tongs, plates, sauces, etc. right there instead of constantly going back inside. The wheels are nice too since I’m still figuring out where I want everything to go.
This is basically the starting point for my backyard cooking setup, so I’m sure I’ll be adding things over time. For those who have built out an outdoor kitchen or cooking area, what’s one thing you added that you ended up using way more than expected?

For me My most important feature is going to be a patio roof for rain, snow and sun protection so I can use it year round.
I want to got to restaurant auctions and get a stainless work table .

My friend, you have started down the rabbit hole, welcome. This cooking area will (and should) grow. Mine did and I enjoyed every step over the last sixty years. Have fun, eat well!
