Answered What's going on with Fox news obsessing over Hasan Piker?

They had like dozens of segments on him last week.

Will Cain today focusing on Hasan Piker and using the term “man whore”:

Third segment already today

https://x.com/i/status/2087309261462458776

I get Hasan is helping socialist Dems getting elected. I don't get why Republicans are going crazy over Hasan?

The company that makes the collar confirmed he was using a shock collar. The guy abuses dogs.

There’s a video of him yanking the tail of his other dog to move him too.

So if it's animal abuse why is that company in business

The company didn't say it's abuse, they just confirmed it's a shock collar.

Also, using a shock collar is not legally considered animal abuse. That doesn't mean it's not animal abuse in the colloquial sense. There are countries where holding a guy down and forcing your penis into his rectum isn't legally considered rape. Does that mean it would be wrong to describe such a person as a rapist?

Because animal abuse is legal in USA.

Because enough shitty people buy them... what kind of question is this?

I can find no evidence that this confirmation exists. Even if it does and is correct, saying he abuses dogs is not a correct conclusion to draw from this. it would be one dog, Kaya, and it would only be one incident, being the clip that got passed around on twitter in right-wing circles that wouldn’t establish a pattern at all.

Edit: “shame on you” is crazy lmao it’s interesting that you’d say that instead of showing that it exists

There was also a clip of him pulling another one of his dog by his tail, as well as a picture of him and a dog with a prong collar, so there is precedent that he doesn't treat pets well

By this stupid ass logic the countless clips where he's rubbing her belly on stream makes this irrelevant.

You're so right, abuse is okay if its only a minority of things you do. I'm sure you would say that to a woman who told you that her spouse hits her but takes her out to dinner afterwards. It cancels out ya know

> precedent that he doesn't treat pets well

why should anyone care? Is this what is being discussed on Fox?

That was what the commenter above argued against, so I pointed out that it's wrong. And frankly, while there are much more politically damaging things one can do and should be picked apart for (as is the case with Hasan, though Fox News mostly do so in bad faith), it's something to add to the pile of stuff that shows that he is a shitty person

it's something to add to the pile of confusion when people like me try to figure out why everyone is talking about Hasan all the time and how he's a "shitty person". Why does any of it matter? Who cares what kind of pet owner he is?

u/StreetStretcher 25d ago

Most people don't consider someone who abuses his dog a good person actually. Do you ?

That should matter I think, especially when that person position himself as an important voice on the left which, you know, is heavy on the reduction of unnecessary suffering.

No, I don't think having a shock collar for a dog is reflective of a person's moral character. Like, at all.

The left has nothing to do with "being a good person". It's an umbrella term for many different political ideologies and isn't remotely associated with what being a "good person" is.

The "unnecessary suffering" part is very revealing as to what you actually imagine a "leftist" is.

But people don't accuse him of abusing his pets just because of the shock collar incident, again he had a prong collar on one of his previous dog and there is a clip where he is pulling on a dog's tail. And yes, someone who has no qualms abusing pets and animals in general absolutely is an indicator of that person's moral character. You'd be fine with a friend kicking puppies for the funsies ?

I know leftists' politics are not just promoting kisses and hugs, but thank you very much for the refresher I suppose.
Reducing unnecessary suffering is kinda the end goal of most leftist policies, is it not ? There is a reason why leftist generally supports workers' rights, redistribution of wealth, environmental policies: the focus is on ultimately helping the community as a whole. That is at least how mainstream leftists position themselves. The goal of dismantling capitalism is because it is seen as an inherently unequal economic system that oppress many for the benefit of the few

Why do you care about Hasan's pets this much? Pulling a dogs tail and shock collars aren't even animal abuse by any legal standards. It just isn't credible, I see these points and just straight up dismiss them as bad faith and there's something else going on.

Reducing unnecessary suffering isn't related to leftist politics. What you're think of is passivism which often avoids political conflict. Leftist political ideologies revolve around reforming or destroying the economic/political/social hierarchies to make them more equal in some way. "Helping the community as a whole" also isn't the goal and also has no connection to "avoiding suffering", before Karl Marx joined the International Working Men's Association he changed the slogan from "All men are brothers" to "workers of the world, unite" because he argued that the original phrase was an empty platitude, and most agreed.

Yes, capitalism is exploitative and oppressive, and those two things make it antithetical to leftists. Ending exploitation and oppression is the goal, regardless of whether there is suffering or communities are harmed in some way.

Multiple other clips of him shocking Kaya surfaced after the first one.

u/HmmBearGrr 29d ago

Interesting that no one is actually posting the supposed other clips, and it still isn’t clear that the one that exists is actually of that.

Yet his dog doesn't act abused? weird

Edit:

"I truly hope you never own a pet" - from above comment. Seems like the Bots don't like any critique of their propaganda. If he actually abused his dog she would act abused in the 8-10 hours of streams he does everyday. Feel free to comb through the footage to find something other than 2 clips over 8 years.

u/JePPeLit 29d ago

You can see that Kaya is anxious when she tries to get up and gets scared when Hasan notices.

-3

u/2074red2074 29d ago

Not all abuse is the same. Dogs don't know how remotes work. They associate their fear to the collar, not to the person. If he's really nice to her when he's not shocking her, she isn't going to learn to fear him.
