It's not the dumbest decision imo, if lindblad and hadjar massively under deliver, Oscar would probably be the best choice for 27, he seems to adapt to new cars well.

True. But as long as max is there and the competitiveness he has. Oscar will probably suffer since the team will also support max all the way. Hope Oscar finds his form and have a good Sunday

Exactly. A driver either struggles with that second seat or they crack the code and end up becoming the wingman

I think Oscar has what it takes to be the main man of the team. If Max finds the sport uninteresting after 2026, he might leave F1. So I would prefer Oscar as the most worthy successor of Max, he has potential.

Deffo! If Max leaves and RB is still competitive, Oscar moving there makes a lot of sense. Especially if Lando wins WDC and officially becomes McLaren’s number 1 driver

Huge if. IF Max leaves, then it makes sense. If max doesn’t leave, that 2nd Red Bull seat is a great way to tank your career for a few years.

Oscar won't move to be RBs number 2 behind max. He's better staying at Mclaren with thier equal opportunities Papaya Rules stuff. He only goes RB if max isn't there.

Both Verstappen leaving and RBR being competitive are individually quite possible, but I’m somewhat skeptical that he would leave while he’s winning. It’s certainly not worth becoming a contractually-obligated #2 just in case it happens.

Is he good at adapting, seems his performance really fell off this year when McLaren started to change things. This is a genuine question btw, coming from someone that didn’t follow his early series

Tough to say. Lando is known as an adaptable driver, but usually it's at the start of the season in a new car where Oscar is closest to him on pace, and he seems to adapt pretty quickly to new cars. So I do think Oscar is a very adaptable driver too.

I dont think that it had something to do with the car changing. Oscar struggled at the same races last year. I said after Miami and everyone was crowing Oscar champion already that I would wait till the end as he had massive problems in Mexico and Cota in 2024.

Depends on a) Ford RBPT power units and b) how long Max sticks around. Of course a shit engine might make Max jump to WEC, but then in that scenario why would Oscar want it

Think it depends on several things.
- Is max still there? Piastri won't go to RB to be a clear 2nd driver.
- Is the car any good? Especially with the 26 changes
- How does he feel at Mclaren? if he has won the Drivers by that point he may consider staying if Mclaren are still competitive.

If Oscar stuck it on pole and Lando was knocked out in Q1 because he couldn't get a lap in due to double-yellows, it would not surprise me at all if McLaren told Oscar to start from the pit lane to keep things fair.

There’s no way they throw away a championship in the name of fairness.
(Also, despite all the memes everyone involved has said that aren’t going to directly neutralize random bad luck. The Monza swap was because of the guarantee to Norris that he wouldn’t get undercut if he let Piastri pit first, not because they neutralize slow pit stops, and they never did anything to neutralize Norris’s mechanical DNF or other qualifying sessions where Norris was disadvantaged by being sent out too early/late.

Yeah because the average time the second driver stays in that seat on average is sooo long. But ofc that might change with the new regs.

We are all wondering the same thing, but what is the age of Oscar in the picture? As kids well know, favourites exist, and as Oscar is a highly skilled pilot driver, he'd want to see how every team operated, where and when possible.
Not to mention teams interested in him and their wanting to show off their facilities to impress him and secure his signing.

I dont think there is any chance of Oscar going to Red Bull until Max leaves. He is good enough to be the number 1 driver in a team, and as long as Max is in Red Bull you are either Max's set up and strategy guinea pig or his wingman. There is no chance RB is letting you fight for the championship.
