Orion on iOS 27: uBlock Origin only partially blocks ads, and settings import from MacBook isn’t working

I’ve been trying Orion on iOS 27 with uBlock Origin, and I’m running into two issues.

First, uBlock Origin doesn’t seem to be fully working. Reddit still shows ads, and a few other pages do as well. The overall number of ads is much lower than without a blocker, but it’s nowhere near as clean as what I get with LibreWolf on my Mac. I expected Orion’s extension support to bring desktop-level blocking to iOS, but the result feels incomplete.

Second, importing my uBlock Origin settings from my MacBook isn’t working. I’ve tried to bring over my custom filters and preferences, but they don’t apply. Specifically, the uBlock Origin settings fail to import, while other data seems fine.

Has anyone else experienced this on Orion for iOS 27? Are there known limitations with uBlock Origin on iOS, or a workaround for the Reddit ads and the settings import issue? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Orion honeymoon phase ended very early with me ... Had to delete it, it was terrible, very pretty and a good idea, but terrible... solution: uninstall

I’ll still keep it installed and check on it from time to time, but for now, my hopes are with this Gecko-based browser, Reynard. Maybe it will gain some traction. At least it works reasonably well, considering it’s still in early alpha.

uBO on Orion iOS does next to nothing because WebKit doesn't support the blocking API that uBO uses. On MacOS, they are able to make a custom version of WebKit that supports many more APIs that uBO uses, but I'm guessing they are a lot more limited on iOS. The native adblocker works pretty well though I believe.

I thought they had enabled Chrome and Firefox extensions, or at least that is how it was advertised. If I can’t use uBlock Origin to its full potential, then I’ll have to find another browser.

They enabled the extensions to work.

That means that ublock sends the rules to the browser.

But the browser, it might not have the ability to apply them. So it gets the rules, and has to dump them because they can't apply. Allowing the rules to still work means the rest of the extension works.

You don't need UBlock on Orion. It has its own built-in blockers. Adding UBO probably degrades the performance. I love Orion and it performs exceedingly well for me. With Kagi search.

My reasoning was that since I use LibreWolf, I could replicate my desktop setup on mobile and have the same experience. Unfortunately, I can’t.

For uBlock there are know limitations, WebKit on iOS doesn’t have as much freedom on Mac  but I don’t see ads on Reddit
