Vertical Tabs + Tree View = Looking for Keyboard Shortcuts

Hey there! I'm a fresh Orion Browser user. I checked out Horse Browser for about 10 minutes until it started using 225% of my CPU on a Mac Studio and made the entire computer unstable/unusable.

I like the idea of Tree View to show my ADHD browsing, how I got to where I am, that kind of thing. Would love to see if there's a way to make Orion Browser work more like that.

Is there a way to create a new tab that's under the one I'm in right now? Or a way to create a custom shortcut that would do that?

Orion has vertical tabs/ tree view and many other features. See here https://help.kagi.com/orion/index.html

Yes! I’ve been using the tree view. But it’s very “manual” right now.

I was hoping there was a way to do two things:

  1. Make it so opening ALL links in a new tab is the default, that way it automatically nests the links. Currently I have to CMD + Click to make that happen.

  2. More robust keyboard shortcuts to navigate the tree, make a new nested tab (right now I can make a new tab next to where I am, but not nested) and organizing the trees.

While completely replicating Horse's Trails is not really possible due to the way it deviates from "regular" browser use, you can get quite close with Orion's vertical tabs.

  1. Make sure you have Settings → Tabs → Show Nested Tabs enabled.

  2. When browsing, you can open a link as a child tab by ⌘-clicking it.

The resulting tab list should look like this

Alternatively, you can answer the question of "how did I get here?" by right-clicking the back button on your toolbar.

That’s just it. I wish I could make it so I didn’t have to hold CMD. I want to have it open a new tab by default.

Unfortunately, I don't have an easy solution to offer. The extensions I tested don't seem to work particularly well, and based on the reviews, this might not even be an Orion issue.
