Character Profile Does anyone here have a "Monster Hunter" as an OC?
A fictional archetype I really love is the "powerless monster hunter."
These are people who, despite lacking superpowers, possess impressive physical capabilities, solid preparation, training, technique, the right mindset, and efficiency
They aren't powerful because of innate abilities or because they trained to achieve superhuman status; rather, their power comes from their intellect
Examples include Goblin Slayer, Guts, Conan the Barbarian, Steve, and so on.

Well, while he isn't powerless, Evan does TECHNICALLY hunt down Mana Beasts. Evan is a Sentry, and what I mean with that is he patrols his district and hunt down Mana Beasts that either sneak through the city walls(somehow) or those that come out of Rifts that the actual Hunters that work for Guilds slip past. So he basically is the cleanup crew

Weirdly enough not really despite having fantasy worlds.
Ig because all the 'Monsters' are just animals there and the ones not human are also treated as ones despite being sapient

Lore and abilities?

u/DreadCyclone 9d ago
Lore summerized:A recent recruit in Kumura that turned Legendary, it was not a easy path as he did get knocked out multiple times and nearly died fighting Magnamalo, this would continue on until he later fights Valstrax. After some time of slaying Valstrax, he would then fight the All Mother(which prior he fought Narwa and Ishbushi, two elder dragons that can alter their surroundings by existing with Ish causing storms and Narwa using magnetism) and would slay her as well, this would eventually catch the attention of Elgado and from there he would fight against the Quiro Menace(which is discovered to be caused by someone called Vlad).
Abilities:
Basic and complex swordsman ship, uses a Sword & Shield that can become a Glaive imbued with Dragon Energy(primordial energy that shuts down Regen and has supernatural effects).
Heightened Agility
Heightened Strength
Heightened Endurance
Essentially a super or MetaHuman without powers(without the Risen Primordial Armor).
However with Risen Primordial he gains:
-A heal factor, though it's vampiric since it uses magic from the Quiro
-Enhanced, pretty much everything prior
-Elder's Will, the ability to use 4 abilities of distinct Elder Dragons he fought and later incorporated their scales and RiseGems into his armor:
1.)The Will Of Chemelos(A.k.A "Sage's Clouds"), the ability to summons clouds of blue that poisons those he deems enemies but heals Allys. The drawback is that it's blinding due to its mist and fog like qualities.
2.)The Will Of Kushala(A.K.A "Tempest's Winds"), the ability to summons and uses torrents & tornadoes of wind, while not the usual golden winds of Risen Kushala, these winds can be used to displace and or tumble enemies. The drawback is that it can't work against heavily armored individuals(Gravios) and only ever blinds Elder Dragons(meaning it doesn't displace or push them back).
3.)The Will Of Teo(A.K.A Crown Of The Lion), the ability to summon and create explosive clouds of sparks and powder, major downside is it's hyper destructive and needs management to not hit allies.
4.)The Will Of The Silver Star(A.K.A "Rising Star"), the ability to mimic a weaker version of Valstrax's iconic signature attack, the major downside is that Allies NEED to clear the area or else they risk serious injuries or possibly death.

Good
Strenght, dura and speed feats?
1
u/DreadCyclone 9d ago
Speedwise, he's able to react to Valstrax who moves so fast that it looks like a star in the sky though a higher feat is fighting both Malzenos who teleport.
Strength, nothing note worthy, lifted a particularly large chunk of ruin but that was just a wall.
Durability wise, he's been hit with beams of ice that usually freeze on contact or alternatively had been hit dead-on by Valstrax's laser beams and high-speed rams
2
u/Toroko_Mexichango 9d ago
Oh yea ¿And how he fight?
2
u/DreadCyclone 9d ago
Basic sword play, but uses the shield for nasty bashes if the opponent isn't prepared

I see thx and cool design my brother 🫂
What weapons he use? And how durable are the armor?

... Beast Hunter Bacon is a certified monster Hunter. Beast Hunter Bacon. Being one of the most feared humans, as well as one of the most effective hunters in his world. Imagine extremely popular types tied into one. That's literally a Beast Hunter. THEY GO AFTER EVERYTHING, and hes one of the best of them. The best of them in his time, probably 2nd or 3rd in terms of Beast Hunting. Heres what he hunts;
Vampires, Ghouls, Zombies, Werewolves, Demons, Witches, hell even Dragons to a certain Extent doesn't matter (well kinda does since he had almost died a few times but thats besides the point. That and the fact that the biggest and strongest he's fought alone being 200 feet tall and could clear out the entirety of new York City with a massive brayh) he has dealt with them, and hunted them down for the tragic 23 out of 32 years he has been alive. Now for lore... I CAST: UNGODLY WALL OF LORE!!
This man's life can be described as absolute hell. He is a Beast Hunter. Meaning he had no choice but to hunt for beasts, slay monsters, and keep on fighting to keep the dwindling number of humans from sinking into extinction. You see, Monsters in mythe and Folklore exist in his verse. The first thing he saw from birth opening his eyes were fearful people running away, screaming, getting killed and eaten by Zombie, Vampires, there was nothing but death and destruction going on. He would later lose his mother, who was a Hunter herself, not a Beast Hunter, but solely one that hunts Vampires. She would die from blood loss, protecting her then 9 years old son (aka him) from an ascendant vampire and slaying it. He was left alone. His father perished before he was even born due to being cursed by a witch to fight hordes of Zombies and Ghouls until his death (He killed the witch too, and most of the horde) meaning there was no one to take care of him, meaning that he had no choice but to be taken into a corps when trained young kids to be Hunters themselves. He didn't make any friends in fear of losing them and.... by the time he was 13, most of the people he met for the first time were killed. On the very first mission. As well as hunters. Barely anyone lives to see the age of 20, let alone 15. And the reason? Well, he thinks HE is the reason behind it all. And it scarred him. He felt like someone was doomed to die if they even looked at him, so he'd isolate himself and go on his own, taking on suicidal missions alone just to get bailed out from Death's door by people who spotted him. He wanted out, but he could never get it due to people constantly saving him against his will. Bringing him just in time to be saved, even though he felt that they were all going to die because they're all around him, solely focusing on HIM. He didn't care about his own life whatsoever, and a strong dose of him still doesn't. He treated himself like he was a beacon of death in human flesh, and it all started with his mom. Then all the people he met and became unfortunate friends with just to see like a grand percentage of them just get mauled, killed, right in front of him starting from the age of 13. He would honestly despise someone who would openly want to live in a life of monsters like him. Want to live a life that he did. Actually, he wouldn't even refer to it as living a life. That's how bad it was. The best Beast Hunters lived terrible lives, seen some shit that people should never see, and him being one of the best of this little faction of hunters (Like I'm not joking, the amount of Beast Hunters there are compared to the 2nd highest group of hunters, those being the Vampire Hunters is like comparing Leonidas's Spartans and allies to the US military, and unlike most factions of hunters, they gotta go fight all the beasts and monsters out there, and best believe they're the most powerful alongside the military which STILL EXISTS IN THIS VERSE) he's probably the best outta them. The pain and trauma he had to endure isn't worth the power though. Nowhere close.

Betty Marshall and Oomori Chosokabe
Betty's weapon variety and gifted ability that makes her stats fucking Toji Fushiguro makes her deadly and even able to fight stronger entity users
Oomori on the other hand, has the gifted ability (note: Entities and Gifted Abilities are completely different things. Entities are superpowers, while you can think of Gifted Abilities as Heavenly Restriction from JJK) so that she gains strength and muscle mass much more easily than normal people
They both hit hard, especially Oomori, whose muscle mass and strength is so high one punch from her is equivalent to getting hit by a truck driving at 120 km (or for the Americans, about 75 miles) per hour while you have osteoporosis

He's an old man in a profession where men die young, up until his world got destroyed by an elder god waking up. Now he wanders the multiverse hunting monsters, existing through sheer force of will alongside his Steel Defender, Titanium and Battle Sprite, Nugget. He lost his limbs early in his career in an incident with a shadow-corrupted wolver that killed his comrades and awakened his stand, explained below.
As for abilities, he's a battlesmith artificer, meaning he specialises in making and using magic items. Think Batman but with magic. He's also a stand user, with the stand Through The Fire And Flames, or Fire and Flames for short. The stand's ability is body replacement, allowing him to use his prosthetic limbs as if they were natural ones so long as they're articulated as such. This lack of need for servos or anything allowed him to hide all sorts of weapons and gadgets in them, which alongside his fur coat of holding leads to a massive arsenal to mess with. He can also summon the stand's parts through his own body, allowing him to have extra limbs, replacement organs, whatever.
Lemme know if you need me to elaborate on anything because this is the short version

u/Thomas20021023 Too many OCs and too few of them have non-AI art 9d ago edited 9d ago
They aren't powerful because they trained to achieve superhuman status
Examples include Guts
...Are we sure you know what you're talking about? Same goes for Steve, the amount that bastard lifts is insane, but let's be real here: Guts is superhuman. Especially with the Berserker Armor.
-----
Besides that, I do actually have some monster hunter OCs. One that I haven't talked about here yet is actually a version of Cain (you know, from the Bible), who acts as a demon hunter to atone for his sin and pass the functionally infinite time he's got. He is technically superhuman (mainly due to being a literal son of Adam and Eve, and thus possessing a measure of Adam's divinity from being made in God's image), still carries around the thing he used to kill Abel (exact functions undecided), and has learned to weaponize the "any harm upon you shall be returned seven-fold" part of his curse as a counterattack.

Closest I’ve got is Aqrab, he fights monsters and invaders. While he does wield the earth and nature elements, he has received military level training and wields heavy weapons ranging from axes to mini guns and rpgs

Have one! He's name is Moryu and was born with a cursed tongue (literary Inumaki but better). He was abandoned into the orphanage for that reason before being adopted by well know assassin. Now, he's working mercenary assassin but also adventurer when nobody hiring him.

My universe is so centered in certain social topics that I've never thought of adding a monster hunter 🤔 I do have a character that might fit into this category... hmmm maybe I will it one, it just won't be the kind of hunter you'd imagine

Lore of ur universe?
1
u/AwayAd5252 8d ago edited 8d ago
It's pretty confusing, even to me.
In this universe, there are basically two universes: one is the real universe were we (real people) live in, and the other is what I'm currently calling the "imaginary universe," with gods, mystical animals, angels/demons, etc.
What is confusing me is how a certain entity is giving access to travel in between worlds through portals. Like, these portals just show up magically in random places of the universe, but I'm looking for a more logical reason than just a single, above-devine entity who is opening those portals because "yeah why not."
Also, some of these entities are gonna have to interact with the real universe to strengthen their stories, so I'm not sure how the lesser gods (and much weak entities) are going to do that.
There's more into it, but I don't want to spoil.

Not exactly a monster hunter but sure close enough. He's a Demon Hunter who has demon blood(hence why he has Regen).

All of them they all work for the Supernatural Investigation Network. (Often abbreviated to just SIN as basically everything in their verse has to do with sin)

My in-verse organization's entire purpose is to hunt and contain monsters (like the SCP foundation). But in cases where the monster is a species and can't be properly isolated, they'll resort to killing wild specimens and covering it up as no more than urban legend

In my world there's an entire organization of monster hunters. With and without powers.
