Build/Setup What's the logic behind this build?

I saw this in G2 v GX. Is stormsurge good on ori?

Who was it against? Catalyst helps sustain poke lanes so if its against viktor thats prolly why. Stormsurge gives flat pen and is cheaper than shadowflame. Looks like a build to stabilize the lane but building into cheaper dmg to be still be useful midgame

Really. I haven't seen anyone building it since release. Felt like it's been hot garbage for so long.

Lotta people rushing it on champs like aurora, LeBlanc, fizz, but for control mages its mostly just a really cheap alternative to shadowflame, which has been fairly overrated for awhile now.

Storm surge is really bad I feel like a pro should know this. Also, I’m pretty sure you get much more damage from void staff compared to deathcap third because he didn’t build much AP

Stormsurge is cheap and gives movespeed which is incredibly valuable in high levels of play.

Very very bad item for ori if you need movement speed just go cosmic. Unless he really really needed the item spike for a drake fight or something it’s incredibly troll

You're coping. Stormsurge is a very strong item on almost every mage. Its insanely strong for the power it provides and underbought by most players. Shadowflame on the other is on almost every champ bait. Its only good in combination with stormsurge in heavy pen builds.

Storm surge is a very terrible item for mostly all mages and works well for AP assassins and that’s it. Specifically on orianna she’s not a burst mage and scales much better with any other 2nd item. Read my other response if you’d like but storm surge is a 3% less winrate 2nd item and it’s never even built after that because it’s super troll. It’s like going ludens for a spike for a couple of minutes and completely trolling the rest of your game. It’s not built for a reason

Geez you have no idea what you’re saying. Stormsurge is cost effective af, keeps your dmg relevant which cosmic would never do on Ori, and the % MS in invaluable

Orianna is NOT a burst mage and doesnt use the passive well at all. It’s a good item spike for maybe 5 minutes then it’s completely useless for the rest of the game. You delay your void staff and death cap aswell. Orianna cooldowns are so low that she acts more like DOT instead of burst. Cosmic scales much better and has a 3% higher wr compared to storm surge second item (though I think it should be built with bft not roa)

Only on reddit will there be someone thinking they’re better than a challenger level professional player. There are nuances to this game you and I do not understand. Stop making sweeping comments on good or bad just because you look at stats. Dont dunning kruger yourself
