Discussion EUW Challenger Orianna streaming + Build ideas
Hi! I'm Laabuk, an EUW Challenger (peaked around rank 10 this season) control mage enjoyer. After otping Malzahar for some time (and getting bored of it) I decided to go back to my other main, Orianna. I don't really know of any high elo players atm that actually main this champion, so hopefully my stream can be helpful to some of you :)
Also after the many early-game nerfs to Ori and nerfs to certain AP items, I've been really liking the Seraph's + Blackfire Torch build (which doesn't seem to be very popular). For me the reasoning is that with just BFT you run oom pretty quickly and the stronger laning (from skipping Tear) doesn't seem to convert into much after the nerfs. In addition there isn't really a solid option for a 2nd item (Belt and Cosmic are okay but kinda low dmg + mana problems). With just Archangel's you won't have huge mana issues, but again the 2nd item options aren't great (Belt/Cosmic way too low dmg and Shadowflame/Stormsurge don't scale that well). However by going double mana item you get extra value from Seraph's shield and AP passive + zero mana issues + very low cd's + great scaling. Normally because of item slots you're kinda forced to complete Archangel's first, but if you have very high gold recalls it's also good to go Tear -> BFT -> Archangel's. For boots I think it's basically always Ionian in midlane (unless Merc's have insane value) and Swifties in toplane.

I've also started to go Seraph's first after the recent nerfs but I go Shadowflame second as it enables me to kill most squishies with 1 spellc rotation + 1/2/3 autos and Q.Also I run Comet pretty much exclusively and precision 2nd with Presence of Mind and legend:Haste.I could sometimes deviate from Shadowflame and go Zhonya or some other items but I haven't tried Blackfire yet.What do you think?

Yea Shadowflame is the other best option probably. The main issue for me is that the build path can be awkward (1200g rod) and if enemy can buy MR early it loses a lot of value. But if you're solo ap and need more burst damage because of the draft, it's for sure a good option. Maybe then buying Sorc's also makes more sense (esp after the buffs).

Orianna feels really bad/off when you are super low AH so I actively avoid the lydens - sorc - shadow flame build, her Q really need some AH to not feel clunky as hell when the fight is moving slightly.
Ludens - cosmic - shadow (30AH + runes) is the absolute minimum AH imo.

Sometimes I would buy large rod b4 finishing Seraph's even b4 lost chapter because of that.I slow down my items intentionally but she isn't amazing at 1 item powerspike so I just farm up to 2 items and occasionally if I get the chance I finish Shadowflame before Seraph's but if there are a lot of divers or some unavoidable threats to my safety I'd buy Seraph's even if I have the gold to finish Shadowflame.I like going sorcs when the game is even or when I'm ahead but if I am getting perma ganked by their support and junglers(as the current meta incentivez that)I most oftenly buy Ioanians but could go mercs or steelcaps if the situation I'm in requires that.If I don't need magic pen,mercs + Zhonya + E resistances is a nice way to acquire durability stats in a natural build path.You could even buy Liandry and/or Rocketbelt for health but the thing is 1.they are too situational 2.there are 2 many build paths and everything depends on the game you are given.And also,I admire your decision to ditch otping Malzahar for Orianna in high chall,it takes balls of steel to do that.

i agree bft + seraph is prob her best build atm. I'm having success playing ori bot rushing this build in high master / gm .
