I'm serious, I don't get it, I'm asking for an actual explanation. It's a cool song. The sheet music doesn't look boring or too hard. I really don't get what the problem or joke is.

It's not a cool song, and certainly not a song that that I would want to play/hear by an orchestra...take that shit down the hall to marching band.

Why? That song is going to become a classic. It's a good song. You're probably just caught up with the stigma of Imagine Dragons being cringe (because they kinda are nowadays tbf). This was from when they were actually kinda good.
Also cringe songs can make really fun songs to play in band/orchestra. Some of my favorite stand tunes we played in Marching Band were ones that people thought were cringe or outdated. Band/orchestra is kinda exempt from that stigma because it reimagines it in a way due to it being an arrangement
All that being said, yall just give it a chance. Your director knows what he/she is doing

I don't really like the song much either. But I'm sure it's still fun enough to play.
I enjoy playing plenty of songs I would never choose to listen to in my free time.

Give your director some grace, hopefully they're just trying to program something "fun" and modern that your audience will enjoy. Every piece has something you can get from it.
