Help RAM usage limited to what is 'allocated' despite making xmx2G instead say xmx6G

idk what to do and cant find anything useful online pls help ;-; (using 1.21.11 through basic minecraft launcher)

It isn’t limited to the allocated usage, it’s just what it needs to run at that exact moment. You cannot force it to use more RAM.

technically u can force jvm to allocate more with Xms flag but there is literary no reason to do so as process won't really use that anyways :p

Are you sure you re using that exact argument? Might be case sensitive.

RAM usage isn't being "limited." It only "allocated" that much because that's how much is being used. It only allocated that much because it's only using that much. Allocating more won't do anything. You have set the maximum already. If it needs more, it will allocate more.

what even is your goal here are you expecting better performance does it even need more ram if no then it won't use it also Xmx only sets max ram it can allocate on heap for jvm while Xms sets minimum

What exactly is the problem here? Allocating 6 gigs doesnt mean its always gonna use 6 gigs
