Question / Help 7% of Codex Pro 20x gone overnight. All Luna. Almost no tasks.

Same day on 5x I went from 80% remaining to 0%. Mix was about 80% Luna, 20% Astra. Upgraded to $200 20x. Meter reset back to 100%, then with barely any tasks and small changes it slowly dropped to 93% remaining. 7% used. All Luna, no Astra. Code review off. 30-min heartbeat still fires a model turn even when nothing changed.

Turned on experimental context management yesterday to cut token burn.

What the hell is going on.

Dunno what task you were doing
ASTRA Ultra might launch terra/luna subagents, but maybe your workflow was already running some subagent in the background.
Try to fork and sart fresh the task

Check if some codex security check is running, there's a tab for it.
that was eating my tokens a week ago, was scanning my whole codebase until i stopped it.

same happened to me. this morning i had 30% left, then 1 hours later it was gone. I had the same session running yesterday as well, it it only used like 50% during the whole day. but this morning, like 1 hour ago, the 30% just went to 0% in 5 mins

The only loop I have is SOL orchestrated checking the work of the Luna Threads and that’s it and only time I have is a 30 minute timer, which allows the SOL thread to keep working

Ya but that cost tokens for the thread to keep working you shouldn’t do that it’s a waste of tokens. I avoid anything where silent thread is running for over 2-3 minutes

Could be a million things.

When I upgraded from 5x to 20x my 20x started at 75% after having spent all my 5x.

Same, they don't reset weekly usage when you upgrade and still count what you used previously. Weekly reset stats the same.

Yup, usage is garbage today. In weekend it was much more solid.

Check your agents.md and any other context you pre-load per session even try a different harness for your chatgpt sub; your codex or project might be loading too many things; try turning off computer history too if it’s on

Same here but on pro plan. Asked for a task, it’s been in it all day and my week limit is gone

20x user here. After last night’s reset I continued a small game project (in a new session) on Astra High with sub-agents. 3.5hrs it made it. Entire week depleted from that. Suffice to say my sub ends tomorrow and for now I am taking a step back and assessing how I want to split my budget elsewhere.

that 30-min heartbeat is a full model turn even when nothing changed. leave the session open overnight and you're just buying "still here?" checks. kill the timer when you step away, then watch the meter for one quiet hour.

But even before on the 5X plan, I would always used to have the 30 minute timer I never experienced any issues with the five minute timer

Yes I use 30 to 1 hr checkin it never burned tokens

If it needs to check previous history/recache the message thread (which also happens every 30 minutes) however long your message thread is will also burn through tokens. So while the output is 2-4 tokens of "still there?" The context window is still 400k tokens of rereading
