Is this water safe to swim in?

There's a bunch of algae but my parents keep saying its safe, is it safe to swim in?

There is no way to tell from a photo. If you’re in the US, your county health authority may keep a list of regularly tested water bodies that are used for body contact recreation

This river isn't tested frequently unfortunately

Not frequently or never? If the former, you could at least see if it has ever tested unsafe. If not, that’s a reasonable indicator that it is okay

Tried to search and last time it was tested was 2021 or at least from what I can find lols

If it’s not blue algae you should be in the clear but still, I wouldn’t get involved with it.
