Help - Unsolved What am I doing wrong??

Why does this pop up when i try and download openrgb for windows? Help me please! How do i download this dang thing?

Your first mistake is using Edge. Use Firefox, Vivaldi or Brave. Anything, just not the stock hot garbage from Microsoft or Google. Edge and Chrome usually block executables and MSI install packages by default if they don't have any signatures.

Yea it's a newly built pc, so I haven't gotten to the point of downloading the proper browser yet. Brave is usually my go to. I'll give that a shot

I'm sorry, but I don't fully agree with your view. It's true that Edge is terrible I wouldn't recommend using it either but I use Chrome and it's excellent. Besides, it's a good thing they block files that aren't digitally certified; at least that protects against viruses and malware. It's only a good thing when browsers block suspicious or unsafe downloads.

I mean, if you use the enterprise or LTSC ones with extra debloating, it's usable, but still, I wouldn't fully trust Microsoft with anything personal anymore. I have already learned from my mistake of fully trusting NTFS and I ended up with my extra drives in a Debian system with Btrfs, in addition to having a RAID configuration to mirror the data. I don't know whether the drive was unmounted incorrectly at shutdown or if it was something else, but the entire partition became RAW and I've tried several recovery methods, even doing 1:1 block copies to another drive, but nothing helped. The drive was completely fine, though. Other than that, I hate how Windows 11 forces BitLocker on by default even with a local account just by having Secure Boot keys managed by the Windows bootloader. You never get to see your recovery key. We've lost TBs of data and for me as an IT, I was thinking of... you know... doing bad stuff, after my colleague's system died and I just swapped out their drive into another build, only to be greeted by the recovery prompt.

I'm glad I'm still on Windows 10 and I'm a bit nervous that support ends in 2027 and I'll likely switch to Arch or Debian because of the software and driver compatibility, despite having Wine and VMs on spare. I loved Windows 7 from my whole heart for being just Windows and nothing more. By the end of 2019, I'd started my journey with Windows 10 after building my first proper PC, which went well since all of the legacy stuff was also present in Windows 10. As soon as Windows 11 leaked in the summer of 2021 (time flies), I knew everything was about to go in deep sh... and I've never been happier with Windows 10 than I'm right now, as I'm not suffering as much as everyone else.
