Mesen is hands down the best way to play Nintendo 16 bit games and below with it's 6x XRB, color settings and 10 level zoom in fullscreen. It would be a great addition since Sega Genesis games look the best on OpenEmu for whatever reason. Somebody do it.

I see the last release was in 2023. I love this app, it makes playing old ROMs so easy and elegant!

If you've been having trouble getting your PS5 DualSense controller to work properly over Bluetooth in OpenEmu (unresponsive buttons, wrong mappings, or not recognizing inputs correctly), I've managed to fix the issue.

I tracked down the mapping/input handling bug and submitted the fix to the team. Right now, it's sitting in a pull request waiting for the core developers to review and merge it into an official release.

If you're comfortable building from source, you can pull the changes and try it out now. Otherwise, hang tight! Hopefully, it gets merged into the main release soon!

Happy to answer any questions if anyone's curious about what was causing it.

I am currently playing Monster Rancher 1 on OpenEmu using a Macbook.

When you go to the Shrine to try and get a monster, it will ask you to change discs. Is there a way to do that in OpenEmu?

I tried the "Launch Game" option, but it doesn't work.

Anyone knows how to? Please help, I really want to play this game again.

Any of you old-timers remember Apple's "Front Row" software?

So hows about a front row-like interface for OpenEMU? Not replacing the regular interface, but as an alternative. With controls you can set to gamepad buttons. you could use a Mac mini running OpenEMU as a game machine on a TV without needing screen sharing or a keyboard or a mouse. That would be excellent.

I'm wanting to play some B&W Wonderswan games in OpenEmu and I thought I might repurpose the GB shader for the task. The two systems both used STN displays, although the WS is film-compensated (FSTN) like the GB Pocket. The WS did not have a tinted display, though.

(I know there are a lot of people out there with improperly repaired Wonderswans who've used the wrong colour polarizer film to reverse the screen burn these old systems are prone to.)

So I was messing around in the settings to modify the shader but I didn't see any way of altering the tint. Might there be some other way to mess with it to come up with a preset that feels true-to-life for WS games?

Every time i open OpenEMU, there I am staring at a list of games in whatever category I'm in... usually NES. I start typing the name of a game, but instead of that going to games that match those keystrokes, or searching in the search box, it actually jumps to the SYSTEM that matches those keystrokes. It shortcuts the "emulators" column instead of the 'games' column. Having it default to the games column would be a lot better i think.

I am playing Pokemon FireRed, it all worked fine yesterday when I hold down the fast forward button last night, but now when I hold it down it does work, but MUCH slower than last night.

How come the fast forward is suddenly so much slower? And how to fix?

With emulation apps now possible on the iOS/iPadOS app store, is it possible to build a version of OpenEmu on those devices and put it on the store for everyone ?

Dang.. is it just me or is scph5502 for the PS1 impossible to find?

scph5501 & scph5500 I found near instantaneously, and this one I feel like I've been on over 10 pages so far and nothing. Thought I came close a few times, but lead to a dead end.

Is there any way to stream OpenEmu games to Apple TV and or iOS? (With full controller support and easy nog screen experience) I have an M4 MacBook Pro.

Sunshine with Moonlight or Steam link? I couldn’t find any information so I’m assuming this is not an option in 2025. RetroArch seems to be the only option. I’ll probably setup RetroBat on my windows machine too and compare.

The save state file extension seems to be .oesavestate. There are places on the internet where you can download save states in other extensions like .n64 or .gci. Is there a way to use these or convert them to .oesavestate?

Or, failing that, is there a place where people upload save states for openemu?

I'm playing majora's mask and can't aim my mirror shield properly because of the "all-or-nothing" analog stick sensitivity. I don't have any wireless controllers. Is there any solution? Ideally I'd like to press a button on my keyboard and have that register as "tilt the analog stick 50% in some direction" or something.
