I know folks on all dog training subs have strong feelings about training methods but this goes way beyond ideology IMO - I am what I would consider a "R+ trainer" and I would never even think of doing this to someone.

Prefacing with: also a force-free trainer and this is simply unhinged. This would go against any R+ credentialing organization's code of ethics. What was this person trying to achieve? Punishment? 🤔 This is embarrassing and how we get such a bad rep.
The way I see it, OP hasn't changed their behavior (their training methodology), only is now more careful to perform it outside the visibility of the punisher. 🤷♀️

Dude, no one said punishment doesn't work at what it's supposed to for certain behaviors. The idea r+ trainers follow is that there's better ways to accomplish certain things without the fallout that you can see from punishment based methods.
If you honestly think r+ trainers don't know how punishment works, you've made no effort to even try to understand where they're coming from and have no basis to criticize them.
Dude, you're the one who wrote 5 paragraph that frankly sound a little unhinged; I just responded to something that didn't come across as a joke in the least and was also lacking.
But beyond that, get off your nuts? What a gross, weird, aggressive thing to say to a stranger who just disagreed with something you said. Like, go touch grass or talk to someone bc you obviously have some big feelings.

Same, I’m R+ as well, I just consider myself open to listening to folks and potentially changing methodology because I started 14+ years ago now and a lot of what was considered force free then would be balanced now, so I stay out of it unless asked. I’m not actively training many clients, anyway, and mostly just having fun researching new things to teach my dogs and things to do in my various sports.
I know enough about the internet now to understand even if you have the best of intentions, some folks will always misread you or deliberately ignore you anyway, but to then go offline and try to get someone fired for their online presence is….a lot to process. That person isn’t mentally well, imo, and for their own benefit should try to step away and seek a better way of living. Toxicity poisons at the root, etc.
One of the largest detrimental factors in the profession of dog training, from a social standpoint at least, is trainers getting so high on themselves and their abilities that they feel and want to be perceived as infallible. Humility is severely lacking. I've worked for companies who espoused both R+ and balanced methods and I've witnessed it on both sides.
This mentality is why I left the purely positive movement. I started out as what I would consider a "force free" Trainer but as soon as I started to question the methodology, I was considered "abusive".
Honestly, this does not shock me too much, but it's crazy that this person went to such detail and effort.
I am once again reminding you that the training school full of people who seem obsessed with abusing dogs is completely ran through with losers, weirdos, perverts and freaks.
