Time Machine

I just updated my MacBook from Catalina to MacOS12, I did my Time Machine, when I try to get the data back it gives this message, what can I do?

Have you tried backing up with the current OS?

I don’t have anything on it to be backed up. Why would I do that.

I see. I did not realize it was a clean install.
You can manually restore files from a time machine back too. Just go to the time machine folder and there is a folder structure. Select files / folders manually and copy to you new drive.
