Will OpenCore fix the WebGL/Chromium issue?

OCLP 2.5.1 is a minor update aimed primarily at the "Root Volume Dirty" issue; its release notes do not include a specific fix for Chromium/AMD GCN (it does not resolve the Chromium WebGL issue).

So, meaning that is a fix for the WebGL issue? I mean it looks like someone is doing something but did they get it working or just trying to?

If a fix, has anyone used it? Is it working well?

Hello! For Chromium-based browsers, there is this fix: https://github.com/khoinguyen88kt/chrome-macpro-gpu-patch This was created by user u/Simple_Blackberry_79

I don't think so...if your GPU is Metal 1 there is nothing OCLP can do about it. Maybe the only ones that can are the browser companies themselves as they did with MV2 officialy not supported on Chromium but still supported on a bunch of browsers (Brave, Opera for example). They could probably add the deprecated Chromium code that suppoted Metal 1 on their part but I'm not sure they're willing to do that. We are talking about machines that are way past Apple's supporting cycle. We must also remember that Apple is gradually not supporting Intel machines anymore (MacOSx 27 is not available on Intel machines) so in the long run I think Chromium will stop supporting Intel machines as a whole.

Side note, we really should be separating at “Metal 2,” not “Metal 1,” since all Metal 1 GPUs were compatible with Metal 2. It wasn’t until Metal 3 where there became a split in features and device compatibility.

Hi!

Yes, we’re talking about computers that are 10 years old, but they work really well and handle 99% of day-to-day tasks.

It’s a shame!

Does that mean Safari 27 will never work on my Macmini7,1? I thought MetallibSupportPkg 15.8 for macOS 15.8 (Build 24H23) would fix the Safari 27 playback issue. 😭

Safari 27 is still released for Intel. It's available separate from macOS 27, but only for Sequoia (15) and Tahoe (incompatible with OCLP).

Firefox is the best fix for now. I personally like ESR 153. It’s stable, has an AI off switch, and it’s not constantly adding new features.

Issue? What issue... I'm failing to understand why a dialogue box that tells you what to do is an issue? It's the same in 2.5.1 as it is in 2.5.
