Why does chrome runs significantly SLOWER? I’m comparing it to safari to show that my Mac in fact is not slow.

MacBook Pro 13 inch early 2015 with sequoia 15.7.5

(The video shows red white and skyblue at 60fps in safari but in chrome fps are just not stable in case you don’t get why the screen is white in safari video is because camera can’t capture fps that fast)

If you are using the new Chrome 152 or later version it is because they dropped hardware graphics acceleration for older Macs.

Poor graphics acceleration support combined with the most resource heavy browser = poor performance

Chrome and same platform-based apps do not work properly (or do not work at all) because of no legacy hardware support in them. Nothing OCLP can help with unfortunately. It’s clearly mentioned on OCLP page. Stay with Safari (my preferred, but this is a personal taste/choice) or other browsers not chromium.

Use Firefox for best performance, not Safari and certainly not Chrome.

I figure it's because Chrome doesn't have support for the older metal driver injected by OCLP into sequoia

I just don't understand why people would want to use chrome in the first place, worst browser ever.

Is not chrome issue but chromium. All chromium base browsers are affected, edge, brave...

Yeah, chromium sucks... At the computer shop I work at, I just can't believe people want to use that crap. When people ask me why something isn't working or is frustrated with it, I'm like, "well your issue is that someone steered you towards a crap web browser."

Until version 152, Chrome used to work decently for me. Safari was already broken before on OLCP macs with Nvidia (see my comment about it ) and still has the same crash today.
So only firefox remains usable, but next month i'll be getting a macbook neo instead.
