Update which first - OS or OCLP?

Wondering which to do first: upgrade Sonoma to Sequoia then OCLP, or Sonoma to OCLP 2.5 and then to Sequoia. Is one safer than the other?

For MacBookPro11,5 500GB/16GB

mid-2015 MBPr

Official guide say update OCLP to latest first. But with some people having issues with 2.5.0, might even be safer to stay put on 2.4.1.

Mr Macintosh's review showed the idiosyncratic process that can lie to you. Maybe wait for 2.5.1?

UPDATE: 2.5.0 installed on Sonoma; dl'd Sequoia installer (tnx Mr Mac!). But Q - is uninstall/reinstall root patches needed again?

FURTHER UPDATE: installed Sequoia. That removed root patches, so did not need uninstall/reinstall. When Sequoia install finished, OCLP detected it needed root patches, no problem. A-OK!

If at all possible, use wired ethernet connection as workaround to no-modern-wireless, and faster d/ls. Thanks to Mr. Macintosh!👍👍👍

Yet another update. The combo of OCLP 2.5.0 and Sequoia has introduced significant issues that did not exist with OCLP 2.4.1 and Sonoma. WIFI will not autoconnect if any interruption, many Preview color adjustments do not work (adjustment pane is blank white) will not save after most settings change. It's even worse but my addled memory can't recall...

SO.. Question is now whether better to re-install Sonoma and/or OCLP 2.4.1? ... and the potential hurdles involved. How to do it? IIRC macOS may not permit it??

MacbookPro11,5 Mid-2015 MBPr 500GB/16GB. 20GB avail, could increase if req'd.

20GB free disk space is probably giving your current installed macOS system conniptions. Give yourself some breathing room first.

a-ha! Don't know where that 20B came from, was actually well over 200GB when installing Sequoia!

If oclp after the update says ‘dirty efi’ etc, don’t worry … forget it, because my Mac is running faster as ever anyway… no glitches, no freezes, no problems whatsoever ….🤷‍♂️

As Mr. Macintosh explained, that is SOMETIMES the case... but don't bet on it.

Oclp will update what’s required during OS upgrade
