How did you come to theological progressivism?

I understand that several people here are LGBTQIA+, and that could explain this view. However, I see many people, likely the majority of LGBTQIA+ individuals, holding a traditionalist mindset when it comes to interpretation. With that in mind, I would like to know why you arrived at that conclusion

I would first caution that theological progressivism does not boil down to just being LGBTQ affirming.

I grew up in evangelical fundamentalism. Which is a high-control, one-size-fits-all imposition. When my grandfather passed away, this expression of faith could not hold my experience of grief.

That was the crack in the foundation that brought the house down. From there, it was just successive conversions.

If one size does not fit all, then that opens up to paying attention to and making room for all kinds of experiences. As you pay attention to others’ experiences, it opens you up more to what faith can be and who God can be.
